Two old faces are back in the ring, proving reports of the dynasty’s demise were greatly exaggerated! Pick either of our finalists, and tell me what about them impresses you the most! I have to pick Winnipeg on that one. You would think that after years and years of domination, they would eventually fall off, but here they are again, with a different core going in the final. I was very impressed with the performance of Tremblay, and Farquaad this season, they really poppped off in S74. (55 words) b. Upsets were a theme this year - which of our finalists had the more difficult road to the promised land and why? Again, I would take Winnipeg on this one. I think that overall their division is harder than New England division. NEW only have Buffalo that can match them, the others 3 teams were pushover this season. WPG were on the same level as TEX, And CHI, with NOLA creeping up on them. It was more difficult to stand out in their division. (62 words) c. Which of the finalists had the more impressive conference finals victory, and why? NEW for sure, not even close. For many, Philedelphia was one of the favorites to win the challenge cup. It was a tough test for NEW before the finals, but they managed it pretty well. On the other side, SFP was probably the weakest teams of all fours in these conference match, and it was not a big surprise that WPG won it in 5. (65 words) d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why? I will choose NEW to win it all. Even if WPG was impressive in playoff until now, I think they will fall against the offensive onslaught that Lacksamus and his pack can bring out on theif defense. I found that overall, NEW have a more solid and complete tean than WPG. (53 words)

I am specifically excited to see Philadelphia Forge prospects Leonard Wood and Gewmba Stolemamoney win gold for Team USA Blue then go beyond and make the IIHF squad later in their careers. Trevor Lahey is a current World Juniors star who will soon dominate in the IIHF. He's about to age out of the junior tournament after winning three gold medals for Team USA (S71, S72, S73). Don't be surprised if he does it again in his fourth and final World Junior Championship tournament. Lahey just won the 4 Star Cup with the Detroit Falcons and is hungry for more hardware. Furthermore, I hope to see budding defenseman Trent Wiseman make one of the USA teams in future tournaments. That young defenseman who currently plays for the Colorado Raptors is a star in the making! Let's go USA in the upcoming WJC!! Code: 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) The New England Wolfpack won the Challenge Cup for season 74. They beat the Winnipeg Aurora in six games after eliminating the team that drafted me, Philadelphia Forge, in six games as well. Their tremendous achievement can be accredited most to the hard work and vision of their general managers. Luke and JR95 built this championship team after seasons of excellent drafts. Now in S74, they took their dominant team and got over the hump. My favorite part of the series is when the Wolfpack won the cup. It was awesome seeing them all out on the ice celebrating their achievement, taking turns carrying the cup.

These two teams are some of the most dominatant over the last several years due to 1 simple fact. Great Locker rooms. Both these team sport great lockerrooms starting from the top down. Both have great General Managers who are active and engaged with both their players and future prospects. This engagement allows them to build outstanding war rooms of some of the great humans in the Simulation Hockey League. These great users theyve assembled doubles as both a work reducer, thus allowing you to actually enjoy the league, as well as a beacon to other great users, Why wouldnt you want to be on either of these teams? Finally this in turn creates an active lockerrom of genuinely kind and engaged users that want to see the team do well and are willing to be engaged to work toward a goal of mulitple cups. Other teams can try to emulate this but at the end of the day some people just have " IT". Winnipeg will be back for years to come as they have the best prospect pool in the league.

Juke 3. Written, 3 TPE, Haven’t I Seen This Before? (150 words min.) Despite being the 8th and 10th ranked regular season teams in the league, our finalists from Winnipeg and New England represent two of the most dominant teams over the past several seasons. What do you think is the secret to their success? What can other teams learn from them? Which one is more likely to be back again next year? I think the secret to their success is that you should ignore the regular season. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together could have told you that these two teams were much better than their regular season records suggested and it was more than reasonable to assume that they'd be able to gone on an absolute run to the finals. Did I predict that in my SHL Predictions? No. Did I claim to have two brain cells to rub together? No. I think they're both likely to be back next year because they're still within good compete windows and I'm sure they'll have some strong additions coming this offseason to continue to shore it up. If you wanted to learn from them, just be better. Be an elite hockey team. Look in the mirror and think about being an elite hockey team. Also don't draft bad. Also trade for firsts. Then draft well and trade for more firsts. Then sign some FAs and trade for top players. 5. Written, 3 TPE, Upset City (150 words min) An impressive string of upsets took place this season, especially in the West with San Francisco’s Cinderella run. Which upset series impressed you most, why, and what in that series sticks out most in your memory? For the purposes of this task, any series won by the lower seed is an upset. I think the upset that impressed me the most was Winnipeg squeaking by Chicago in their series. Chicago looked dangerous all year, and was the much better team on paper and on ice. I think that's just the nature of hockey though where no matter how outmatched the Aurora were, they were able to find a way to get it done at the end of the day. Good teams do that. Chicago carried play the entire series, Chicago had the better scoring chances, but sometimes the puck just doesn't go your way and that's something as a player and a fan that you have to be prepared for. I think it took the league by surprise too given how Chicago has more cups in recent memory than Winnipeg, but sometimes you have to expect the unexpected. Look for Chicago to be a big contender again this season in a big get right spot. They won't be upset again by Winnipeg this season, I'll tell you that much. - -

It's very impressive that both of these teams made it back to the championship to face off yet again. It's even more impressive that this is a split series in the finals after New England won 5 years ago. New England is stronger than Winnipeg being in the more difficult conference and are hungry for another championship. Now, That's Impressive! Code: 89 Words c. Which of the finalists had the more impressive conference finals victory, and why? +1 =8 When you look at the conference championships, San Francisco wasn't even supposed to be there so when Winnipeg beat them in only 5 games it *was* impressive, but it wasn't quite the fight you expect in the Conference championship. But when you have New England taking on a powerhouse like Philadelphia and beating them in 6 games. That is impressive! Code: 60 Words

Despite being the 8th and 10th ranked regular season teams in the league, our finalists from Winnipeg and New England represent two of the most dominant teams over the past several seasons. What do you think is the secret to their success? What can other teams learn from them? Which one is more likely to be back again next year? I think the secret to their success starts with the GMs. I'm very biased since I've played under both Ace and Luke but I think they are 2 of the best GMs in the SHL and Ace might be one of the best GMs in SHL history. Both are very strong teambuilders and are very good at acquiring talent by either moving up in the draft or acquire a player via trade. Both teams have had some of the best players in the league over their runs, you just have to look a the awards on both teams; 13 combined All Stars, 3 MVPs, 2 goal scoring and points leaders, 3 best defensive dmen, 2 best defensemen awards, 1 best 2 way forward, 2 Rookie of the Year and 1 Goalie of the Year. If that doesn't sum up their domination I don't know does. Other teams should learn to make a strong core and keep it, Winnipeg has stuck with this principle and because of it, it kinda looks like this will be their last dance. NEW is a little bit younger but they play in harder conference but they have the better chance to come back next year. Two old faces are back in the ring, proving reports of the dynasty’s demise were greatly exaggerated! Pick either of our finalists, and tell me what about them impresses you the most! Honestly Winnipeg has impressed me the most, their stars of the dynasty are starting to burn out a little bit and it's starting to show. But they've gotten hot in the playoffs and are once again back fighting to once again reach the promised land. I will say though NEW has been DOMINATE in these playoffs and is definitely worth noting. d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why? Give me New England, I think they are the more talented team and they have been burying teams in the playoffs this year. They are on fire and I don't believe that Winnipeg can cool them off. The series won't be a blow out, it will probably be a 6 or 7 game series but NEW will be the team that comes out on top. CW TRIVIA greatness

2a. I am impressed by both teams making it this far once again. Neither team blew anyone away with their regular seasons and it seemed that regression would finally take down these two giants on the recent SHL past. Good job by the GM's to keep the contention window open for yet another run. (54 words) +1 TPE 2b. The New England Wolfpack seemed to have a tougher slate of opponents coming into the finals. Hamilton, Buffalo, and Philadelphia all had good regular seasons and many people had picked either Buffalo or Philly to come out of the east. Winnipeg's opponents were nothing to scoff at either, but if I had to pick one, it'd be New England. (59 words) +1 TPE 2c. The New England Wolfpack once again take the cake with the tougher Conference Finals win over the Philly Forge. Taking down the regular season beast of the East on the way to the finals, especially in 6 games, is very impressive. Meanwhile, Winnipeg disposed of the Cinderella team from San Francisco in 5 games, but the Pride were clearly playing out of their minds to make it far. (68 words) +1 TPE 2d. Even before the completion of Finals, I thought New England had the upper hand. They were battle tested coming into the finals with grueling series during their playoff run. Winnipeg looked great working their way through the Western teams, but had avoided any of the real heavyweights on their way there. (51 words) +1 TPE 12. The New England Wolfpack came out ahead over the Winnipeg Aurora as the S74 champions. The primary reason was their powerful offensive attack which Winnipeg was only able to hold to less than 4 goals once in the six game series. New England used that attack to jump out to 2-0 and 3-1 series leads and kept Winnipeg with their backs against the wall throughout the whole series. In particular, Bruno Tooyo leaps off the stat sheet with an incredible playoff run with 33 points including 17 goals for the Wolfpack. He was truly unstoppable throughout the postseason and a huge part of the Pack taking home the Challenge Cup. (110 words) +2TPE

Two old faces are back in the ring, proving reports of the dynasty’s demise were greatly exaggerated! Pick either of our finalists, and tell me what about them impresses you the most! Who you calling old? I'm still in my prime other than the fact I am not as good as I was at just about anything. But then there are other people on NEW that are better than they were so I would say that evens out. What is impressive about NEW? I would say it is their shoes. They have really nice shoes. +1 TPE Code: b. Upsets were a theme this year - which of our finalists had the more difficult road to the promised land and why? Well as both of the teams came out on top I struggle to say who's was harder than the other. Though I would give the edge to NEW as they had to take out the #2 and #3 seed to get to the finals where WPG had to take out #6. All other teams were lower ranked than them. Lets give a shout out to LAP for the upset of the season though! +1 TPE Code: c. Which of the finalists had the more impressive conference finals victory, and why? This feels almost redundant with my last answer, but again going to give it to NEW (I am a homer I guess). But going into the series WPG and PHI would have had to be favored so WPG beating a lower seed (while not easy) should not come across as a big surprise. +1 TPE Code: d. If it ain't broke don't fix it: Who you got? Who wins? Why? Well clearly it will be (and was because I am late) NEW. We felt really good coming into the series and feel like we were able to finish the job and won it in 6 games. Regardless of the outcome, I still would have voted NEW for this because I will not bet against my team. +1 TPE Code: 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) Well I am definitely the procrasinator and NEW came out on top in 6 games. I can not really say what WPG could have done to change the result other than win some more? I know that is not all that helpful but I am not good at the FHM strategies nor do I know the details of the shots/goals ratio or anything. Favorite part of the series? Winning it obviously! It is my second cup with NEW in the past 5 seasons and I am pretty pumped about that. Now just on to the next season and try for another cup. We still have the talent! +2 TPE

New England impresses me the most by the way they consistently put pucks in the net. The top 5 leaders in points these playoffs were all from the wolfpack. Bruno Tooyo lead the league in goals in 17 in 24 games played, Outdoor Truck lead the league in assists with 22 in 24 games played. b. With no debate New England had the tougher path to follow. Starting with 13 seed Hamilton, who was the only team to bring New England to a game 7 series, the wolfpack then beat 2 seed Buffalo in a 5 game series, followed by 3 seed Philadelphia in a 6 game series, before defeating Winnipeg for the Cup in 6 games.

Upsets were a theme this year - which of our finalists had the more difficult road to the promised land and why? I think New England probably had a bit more difficult of a road to the final this season. While Toronto was probably an easier matchup round 1 than the plucky Syndicate, having to go through Buffalo and then Philly in the next two rounds is tougher than Texas followed up by the underdog miracle run San Francisco. c. Which of the finalists had the more impressive conference finals victory, and why? Definitely New England for me. No disrespect to San Francisco at all, they are building something really nice over there, but they definitely went on the dream underdog run getting to the conference final, and that's where the steam ran out. Philadelphia is a much stronger team overall and has been a force in the East for a long time now. Quote:3. Written, 3 TPE, Haven’t I Seen This Before? (150 words min.)There are teams in this league that are relatively happy to build a team, create friendships and then ride or die with those friendships, win or lose. Sometimes they are able to grab a cup or two at their peak, sometimes they just aren't quite good enough, but the vibes are immaculate, so they ride it out and eventually fall off. Some teams will do whatever it takes to win and make tough decisions in order to keep their competitive windows open as long as possible. I feel as though Winnipeg and New England are two of those teams. They continually make those two decisions letting players go or making moves in order to bring in the bigger fish that will allow them to keep going, so that's why I think they've been at the top of the league for so long now. As for next season, hard to say. I would say Winnipeg by a small margin as their depth is ever so slightly better. Credits to OrbitingDeath, Tweedle, Incite, Wasty, and Slothfacekilla for sigs!
