Olof Karsikko

From Los Angeles to New England, Olof has been one of the best goalies in the league. To the nickname “Playoff Olof”, winning multiple cups over his career. Olof has been around the block. A starting goalie for 2 franchises, he is one of the rare ones.

Drafted in S60 by the Tampa Bay Barracuda. Specifically 23rd OA, Olof never played for them. Instead, getting traded o the Los Angeles Panthers for a 1st round pick and Vorian Atreides. Olof would make his start there.

First season in the league was 62, where Olof had a really good season. With a statline of 28-14-1 with 6 shutouts and a .915 SV%. Olof was able to get a nomination for the Ryan Jesster along with being a Rookie All Star.

S63 was his first taste of playoff action. After an underwhelming season. 29 wins, 21 losses, 5 OTL, 2 shutouts. But a horrendous .89 SV%. In the playoffs, he was 2 wins away from glory. In 22 starts in the playoffs, he had a .932 SV5 over that time.

S64 was also a good season, going 32-13-8 with 4 shutouts and a .916 SV%. S65 was the same thing, as Los Angeles got even better. Going 37-13-8 with 4 shutouts and a .916 SV5. Furthermore, he got another crack at the cup, and won it this time! Winning Los Angeles their first cup since S17, Karsikko won the Anton Razov award for playoff MVP. Winning the 16 games required, along with a amazing .937 SV% over those 20 games in the playoffs.

S66&S67 were Olof’s last seasons in Los Angeles. Having a decent but not great record, and decent save percentage. Los Angeles was looking to rebuild. And with that, Olof was dangled on the block. New England took the opportunity to trade for a starting goalie. Trading 3 2nds for Olof in the offseason of S67.
S68 was bad for Olof and New England. Not making the playoffs and olof going 21-25-8 with 1 shutout and a .88 SV%. It did not look good for him. S69 however, his luck started to change .With New England on the rise, Olof went 34-16-4 with a career high 8 shutouts. Along with a .910 SV%, Olof finally got his first John McBride nomination. Along with a 2nd All Star Team.
S70 he took a slight step back, but was still one of the top goalies in the league.

Going 27-13-5 with 4 shutouts and a .907 SV5. He got his 2nd McBride nom, and a 3rd All Star Team with that. However, he showed that he is a clutch goalie. Winning his 2nd Challenge cup and winning his 2nd Razov. In that playoff run, playing a career high and a league high 28 games. He had a .916 SV% over that time and 2 shutouts. No one played more games in a playoff run than Olof.
S71 Olof again had one of his best seasons in the league. With New England coming into dominance, Olof went 38-7-3 with 6 shutouts and a .908 SV%. Good for his 3rd McBride nomination in a row. S72 however, he struggled, even with New England doing great. Going 39-15-0 with 2 shutouts and a .89 SV% Olof did not receive anything for that.
S73 however, came with his best season to date. With a career high 41 wins, 10 losses and 2 OTL. Along with 7 shutouts and a career high .917 SV%. Olof won his first McBride. He also got his 1st All Star Team and won the Mike Honcho.

S74, which was the last season. Olof settled down from that high. Only going 27-16-3 with 2 shutouts and a .900 SV%. Olof did not look that great in the regular season. But in the playoffs… Playoff Olof Arrived. Winning his 3rd Challenge Cup of his Career. Olof again popped off. In 24 games played, olof had a .913 SV%. And right now is nominated for the Anton Razov Award. With the award winners not yet announced, we will see if he wins his 3rd…

With a players career still going, Olof has as record of 676 GP, 411 wins, 201 losses, and 46 OTL. Along with 48 shutouts and a .903 SV%. That is good for 7th most wins out of any goalie ever. Becoming the 9th player ever to hit the 400 career win mark.
In the playoffs, he has went 120-74-10 with a save percentage of .912 SV%. a .11 SV% increase from the regular season. Carrying his team to 3 Cup Wins, and 2 Cup Final losses. Olof in the playoffs has become clutch, and one of the best goalies ever in the playoffs.

Posting a .930+ sv% in 2 different runs is nutty! This series is awesome, as someone new to the league its interesting to read about all the crazy achievements
