S76 PT #1: One night in Tokyo Due: Sunday, April 14th @ 11:59 PM PST

Option 2.

Being an American, MattyJ has never left the country besides playing in Newfoundland. Is that really even leaving the country though. He feels indifferent about the trip. He just tried to prepare as he would for any other away game. On one hand, the new atmosphere and country is exciting. It is cool to experience a new culture. However, MattyJ is very disappointed to miss out on the home opener. It is the best night of the year. He hopes that the first home game back will serve as the home opener and the crowd will be buzzing.

While on the trip, when not training with teammates on the ice, MattyJ hopes to see whatever he can and hit all the touristy spots. He does not get this opportunity very often so he hopes to make the best of it. Although disappointed to not start his new season in Newfoundland, MattyJ is very determined to return home undefeated.

Option 1:

The game show is "played" on an indoor soccer field. In the spirit of hockey, there are two goals on either side of the field. There are three people on each team, and each are given one of those floppy hockey sticks from gym class. Like any sport, the goal is to get the ball in the goal, but this ball is a beach ball. Seems simple enough, right? Wrong. There is also a team of 6 that are instructed to hit anyone as hard as possible. You may not even be the one with the beach ball. As a team gets close to scoring, a randomly timer-ed wall goes up in front of the goal. No score! Better watch out you have someone coming after you! They have a slo-mo replay cam to highlight all the heavy hits. First team to 1 wins. It's much harder than you think and insurance is waived.

Option 1

Crystal McLeod is cautiously excited for the trip to Japan. While she has traveled abroad for hockey before, she knows the vibe in Japan will be quite different than the vibe was in Belarus when the Knights went.

She quickly fell in love with the local culture, especially the Kawaii culture plushies and such. In fact, she ended up needing to buy a whole new suitcase just to get all the mascot plushies back home, "for Jane".

On her off day, the SHL had decided to send her to take part in a game show. Turns out, the game show was a physical competition between a soccer player, a baseball player, and an ice hockey player, where they would all do challenges based on each others' sports and see who succeeded the most. Due to being married to a professional soccer player, Crystal was able to easily get past the soccer challenges.

She struggled slightly more with the baseball challenges, but her hand eye coordination and arm strength were enough to send her ahead in the home run derby. Of course, she went on to dominate the ice hockey portion of the show, resulting in her being crowned the winner. Afterwards, she had bought a life size plush of the show's mascot, a wolf with a hockey helmet, baseball jersey, and soccer shorts and cleats.

Quote:Written Option 1: Your team is taking part of this seasons SHL Global Series and they start their season with 2 games in Japan because HO has heard there is untapped market potential there. As your team arrives at the arena your player discovers that they have become quite popular among local fans after their Chirper actions. On their offday between the games they get invited to some Japanese game show. What kind of game show it is and how does your player perform? Will this make them big in Japan?

First of all, he's very surprised to be popular in Japan. If there was one untapped market that Jae-ik would have assumed he'd be popular in, it's South Korea. But maybe there's just been more press in the East Asia area about his exploits in the SHL, which would naturally lead to more exposure to the Japanese audience.

The game show would be one of those game shows that have people running on a treadmill while foam boards come barreling at them. Inside the foam boards is a cutout shape, and the contestant needs to contort their body to pass through the cutout without falling off the treadmill.

Jae-ik's athleticism and flexibility would help him make it further than anyone else has ever gotten on the show. It would impress the Japanese audience so much that the SHL will take off in the country, to the point where there'd be public pressure to get an SHL team in Tokyo. Men and women would be fainting in awe of his athleticism and competitiveness, as well as his handsomeness. He would become even more of an overnight sensation.

Option 2:
An expenses paid trip to Japan! Sign me the F up! Who wouldn’t want to travel to a new country and also get to play the sport you love? To top it off the team is paying for it!? This sounds like a match made in heaven if you ask me! BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!? Everyone I would even consider travelling there with to share the experience is on my team! This is a great step to help grow the game and help attract some new fans to the Forge! Of course it is still a business trip and we need to come ready to play the games and do the press conferences and what not but in the end it would overall be just an incredible experience! The effort would definitely be probably less then in a regular home opener but wouldn’t take away from the excitement of the game as a whole. Send me overseas for this game lets goo!

OPTION 2
Jaromir Jagrbomb is thrilled about it! He acknowledges that the atmosphere at the game itself might be underwhelming, as it often is when games are played in neutral locations, where neither team has a passionate fan base. This also can affect the quality of the game itself, because the crowd's passion typically carries over to players. But besides that, Jagrbomb is very excited. He's always curious to see new parts of the world, and enjoys traveling whenever he has the opportunity. Japan is especially interesting for him, because he's really much into Japanese food, and he also finds the Japanese culture in general very interesting, because it's so different from the cultures he's grown up and lived in. Jagrbomb will certainly spend a lot of time just traveling around the city, eating sushi, ramen and all the other local delicacies, as well as maybe visit some izakayas in the evenings. He hopes the team will have a lot of free time for exploring, so that it won't be all hockey.

Zedward Zilliams is invited onto the game show that is roughly translated to "Athlete Sits on a Stool and Gets Splashed with Liquids" and it has become very popular with the biggest stars in sports. Zedward had no idea what he had in store, but there were so many fans wearing fake mustaches taped to their lips, that he couldn't resist the extra popularity. So Zedward arrives at this giant amusement park and in the middle of this amusement park is a large crowd of fans circled round a comically big wooden stool. There is an extensive filming setup with copious lighting and cameras set up. Zedward has brushed up on Japanese and is following along roughly with what his assignment is. As soon as he sits down on the wooden stool, immediately someone takes out a garden hose and begins spraying Zedward with orange juice. Before Zedward can orient himself, this is quickly followed by a bucket of water to wash him off. Judges to the side put up scores of 7, 5, and 8.

written option two

so binko was very happy to learn that not only did his new team the minnesota monarchs get selected to participate in the global series in japan, they were also picked to play against his former team, the atlanta inferno! what a crazy coincidence that is! and binko thought of a really really funny prank to play on one of his former team mates in particular. of course every one knows that sushi is very popular in japan and in fact it is the place where sushi as a type of food originated. it is also the case that eel is very popular in sushi form! so binko's devious plan was to try to bring his former teammate pee @hotdog who is an eel to a sushi restaurant just to give him a little scare and try to coax him into some light cannibalism however he could not find eel anywhere he looked! he knows that pee loved to hide his slimy self in the sleeves of teammates like @Jepox sim wen so he went and checked the sleeves of all of his former teammates and gave their armpits a good sniff too just for good measure but the eel sure is slippery and may have been migrating between the sleeves of his teammates!

Option 2:

As the Kelowna Knights prepare for Japan, Savva finds himself both nervous and excited. The idea of traveling to a country he has never visited has given him restless nights with his mind racing over thoughts of what awaits him. Japan is a land of both tradition and cutting-edge technology... all of which seems like a world away from where Savva grew up. He wonders what the streets of Tokyo will be like, or if the language barrier be too much? Will he find ways to communicate despite his limited grasp of Japanese? But the opportunity to represent the Kelowna on an international stage is too much to ignore, a chance to test his skill against players from across the globe. He imagines the thrill of stepping onto the ice in a foreign arena, the roar of the crowd in his ears as he skates. Will the competitors in Japan be as fierce as he thinks they will, or will their level of play fall short of expectation? Savva knows that the only way to find out is to face them head on, and embrace the upcoming challenge.

Making the trip to Japan is something that excites Andrade La Sombra more than ever before. Thus far, traveling between his father's wrestling promotion in Mexico and the United States, as well as the press trips he's done with Colorado, are all he's managed to do. So the idea that he gets to travel all the way across the world to show Japan exactly how hockey is played by a skilled forward is an opportunity he isn't about to pass up. Not only that, the home opener is delayed for at least two games, meaning that when the Raptors return to Colorado, the fans will be rabid and cheering on their home team for a win, not only inspiring La Sombra, but the rest of the team. The jetlag is going to be La Sombra's biggest concern; being tired means you're not likely to play at your best, and La Sombra's going to need to find a way to adjust to the different times very quickly.
