Dash Jackson loves playing Defense there is no doubt about it. He eats, sleeps and breathes defense; maybe even dreams of blocking that Game winning goal in the SMJHL Finals. But that is exactly what that is just a dream. You know what else is just a dream? Playing quarterback for the offense the Center position. Being a faceoff specialist with some defensive prowess (which Dash already has in his blood) a Patrice Bergeron type of player, a 6 time Selke award winner, a true leader on and off the ice, Now that is a dream! Maybe sometime in the future he could make a player as good as him. Dash has some of the traits needed but if he wanted to ever achieve that goal he would have to mirror his game like a Bog Damsel. Boy they aren't afraid to take one for the team or sacrifice offense for defense and lay some wood. Great player all-around and that's the kind of player Dash Jackson would rather be than a defenseman. WC 176 LD #6 Dash Jackson-Edmonton Blizzard/Yukon Malamutes

If Miovski played a different position then it would definitely be on the right wing, with elite pace and laser accuracy there is little doubt that Miovski would be a goal scoring machine. Unwilling to do the dirty work, Miovski would hang out at the blue line on defense looking for any chance to get out on the break and have his defender grasping for the ice.
While defense fits the inexperienced skater that Miovski is currently, his best fit might be on the wing. As a defensemen he currently posts up at the blue line and hammers one timers - get assists regularly on his forwards feasting on rebounds. Once he is more comfortable and a bit more skilful Miovski could make the most of his potential by moving to the forwards where he can be a bit more impactful. His football skills would translate to some dirty dangles and fire one top bins.

Option 2:
Beck would probably be a center, and also probably be a two way forward at that. His defensive prowess is just too great to go straight offense all the time. In fact, recently I have come to the realization that his offense is really no longer a strength. Regression has hit my buddy hard and although he tries to keep up, he is not the all-star player of his glory days. He would make a great second or third line center with redistributed faceoffs to enhance his possession game. He would continue to put his body on the line and block shots, but his physical edge would start to blossom as his skilled hands start to decline. Throwing his weight around and being the scrapper inside would be a good change of pace and lend the team a good level of sandpaper. All in all, it doesn't matter what position he plays, as long as it is for his hometown Winnipeg Aurora. Credit to enigmatic, Merica, tweedledunn, and jaypc8237 for sigs

Option 2:
Shadow Fenix, if able to, would play as a winger. It's not unusual for centers to play on the wing, and Shadow Fenix's playstyle would be well suited for it. Specifically his speed would allow him to truly shine as he would get many breakaways per game. My personal hockey fandom would be better fulfilled because in real life, I play winger sometimes. So my player would literally be me. Except for the part where my player is very good at hockey, whereas I am dog water. Regardless, I don't think that this change would ever happen because at his core, Shadow Fenix is a play maker, and wingers simply aren't going to be the play makers like McDavid. Sure, you might say that I could become someone like Patty Kane with slick stick handling, and filthy passes, but I would much prefer to have the player that just is really fast.

Dunkler has always been a role player on defense. He prefers to be less physical, and more focused on sound positional play and controlling the puck. But he will play whatever role is needed. He’s not afraid to block shots or throw the body, despite his favored playstyle.
That being said, the defensive side of the ice doesn’t carry with it many scoring opportunities. Since Dunkler does love to control the puck and the flow of the game, he would probably like to play center as well. Center’s certainly get more action in the goals and assists department, but they also share responsible for setting up plays in the offensive zone. Dunkler could apply that same positional knowledge from being a defenseman to exploiting weakness in opponents defenders as a forward. It should also be noted that swapping to forward doesn’t completely relive someone from fulfilling their duties on defense either. I think Dunkler would play a strong two-way game, and focus mostly on being a playmaker rather than a scorer. WC: 171

Option 2:
Squidwardo Tentacles would switch from Left Wing to Left Defense if he could change his position. This was already suggested by Squidwardo this season but due to the amount of players graduating from the Malamutes they needed Tentacles up front and not on the back end. Tentacles is already a solid two way forward who likes to hit and back check which would translate well to defense. As a winger who can't really take a slap shot and has a weaker wrister compared to other forwards, playing defense and dishing the puck as a puck moving defender would be a fun choice. He probably wouldn't be able to throw the body as much as he does on wing though, as he wouldn't want to put his defensive partner into bad positions. On wing it doesn't matter as much, but throwing a ton of hits could leave to multiple odd man rushes and could screw over the team in the long run. ]

I think that if Will Tomlander was not a forward with an aggressive forecheck playing style, he would probably be a crease clearing defenseman or similar. He's a big physical guy who wants to lay the body on hits, so that style would be the best stylistic fit I think. However, I would like to ensure that Will Tomlander would still retain a scoring touch. I guess an Alex Pietrangelo equivalent, or maybe Victor Hedman? He would never be that top scoring, finesse defender like Erik Karlsson or Quinn Hughes, but Tomlander would be a tough opponent to play against in a 1B or second pair role perhaps. But since I already kind of did that with a two way defender in Magnus Liljestrom last time, that is why I decided to go with a forward this time around in order to change things up a little bit in my second go through the SHL.

The position that my player would switch to would definitely be a position on the Defense. Probably Center defense but I could definitely see Morley playing on one of the wings too. I think he would change to this position because as a Forward (and Center in particular), he has always played both ways (offensive and defensive), but has generally leaned toward a more defensive playstyle because that is what his mindset and attitude allow him to flourish in. This season, Morley got in to his first SHL fight and to be honest, it was invigorating. Morley has always been kind of a grinder and has used his tenacity to set the tone of games, but the way that a fight sets the tone is different than that of an agitator. If Morley started off every game with a hard hit followed by dropping the gloves, teams would be terrified to face him and Manhattan as a whole, and that is what Morley would love to do if he could change positions. Option 2:
Well my first player, Paul Binder, was a balanced two way forward. While he did have a couple seasons of budding offense, he was primarily a defensive-leaning forward. Paul Bondage on the other hand, is an offensive-leaning defenseman. With all of this knowledge, I think it's glaringly obvious he would be perfect on the wing, preferably with a sniper center that he could continuously feed assists to. I was imagining a Brent Burns style player when building Paul Bondage, who started as a forward before swapping over to defense, so I suppose he would be perfectly fine filling back into the forward position. As a kid, Paul Bondage also spent a few stick and puck sessions padded up and between the pipes, but he needs another many years of yoga and flexibility in order to fully position to that of a goaltender. With all that being said though, he's still happy where he is on the blue line. WC: 162

Ricky Koivu started his career playing at right wing, but over the seasons found an affinity for center due to him turning out to be a reliable faceoff winner and jack of all trades. As his career winds down, though, center will probably not be a position on the cards for him due to starting to lack the speed and stamina required. Already it is very likely he will transition to being more of a defensive winger like he was early in his career, as he very much still has all the same technical ability that got him selected 2nd overall 11 seasons ago. The problem is just that its less likely he will be able to carry as much of the load as he did at his peak. Way later into his career, though, Koivu could see himself becoming a full fledged defenseman, as his two way prowess would lend itself well to the position even when he lacks the speed to continue playing on offense. I think I'd switch to goalie honestly. I've played as an offensive Defense man, and now as a kindof shitty 2 way forward. I think I'm finally just about ready to be the brick wall I was always born to be. But as a goalie, I think I'd wanna be an instigator/goon goalie kindof like drunk Ed Belfour in the 90s/2000s. Racking dudes when try to screen me, elbows flying anytime somebody gets close, and a big face off circle goalie fights kinda guy. I also wanna be a big chirper. Somebody that really gets under the skin of my opponent, I feel like thats something that as a goalie you can really use to rattle those big jerks trying to get in your crease.
As far as sim hockey goes, I'm not sure being a goalie is the best idea because people don't seem to like to draft them and it seems like they're never really necessary, but at the same time.. doesn't everyone need a goalie? So, why not...hm I think I just decided on my next player.

Obviously, i'd be a one use tool on defense. I'm already an absolute nightmare for a coach when it comes to playing in our own defensive zone, but oh god can I shoot the puck. Think of the elite puck moving defensemen, think of the elite powerplay anchors, think of the most agile and speedy bunch of them, and that's essentially what Derek could be on the blue line. Now, are the goals against and shots against metrics going to turn up being a nightmare? Surely, but as long as he can contribute a positive corsi and balance it out with high danger elite scoring chances, then who cares? The best defense is a good offense right? As long as the puck is in their net more than yours, then who cares!! I therefore strongly urge the Los Angeles Panthers' management team and coaching team to consider their captain primed, locked and loaded to help out in a time of need, that's pure leadership and captain material. LET'S GO!

If Chuff D'Lee could change to another position, I think it would be a winger. The reason I think this is because so far this season he has been leading in penalty minutes in the league overall. This shows that hes got the gusto to be on the front lines. |
