Jeremy Joins the Ottawa Highlanders

Quite frankly, calling Jeremy a monster on the ice would probably be a mistake. The fact is, Jeremy was nothing more than a nervous wreck for the start of his first game. It isn’t so much that he actually signed with the Ottawa Highlanders, as it is that he showed up to a practice one day, and they just happened to be a short a player. Jeremy would never reveal to the general managers just why they happened to be short a player, but needless to say he didn’t need a meal for the first day of practice.
As the Highlanders were practicing on the ice, some basic passing drills, Jeremy found his way to through to the ice itself. While the siamese cat wasn’t quite prepared to have his toe beans touch the ice the way that they did, he worked to suck it up until Kiwi could ship his special booties. If she ever shipped them. Jeremy had the feeling she was slightly annoyed at the fact that he wasn’t making his way to Nevada with her. Letting out a large meow, Jeremy gathered the attention of most of the skaters as he continued out onto the ice with confidence. At first, there were some giggles from the players, as all of a sudden there was a cat on the ice. After he took their puck, however, many of the players were laughing less, and beginning to grow annoyed. Batting the puck between his paws, Jeremy let out another loud meow. (The team would later realize that this meow meant “Bring it,” or that it meant “My toes are cold.” While they’ve learned to communicate with Jeremy on some levels, on others he still remained a slight enigma.) As Jeremy's new teammates, not that they knew that at this time, came to try and get the puck away from Jeremy, he continued batting it around the ice, avoiding the majority of the players as much as he could. His agility and ability to evade most of the players might have made him seem like an offensive threat. As he skated near the goalie, in an attempt to score, he noticed a small string of the net that was out. Instead of continuing with the puck, Jeremy raced over to the string, batting it in his paws and chewing it. (This action is ultimately what led to the coaches recognizing that Jeremy’s strength is as a defender, not an offensive player. Well, this, and the other thing.) One of his teammates went to take the puck from Jeremy, very quickly the cat grew enraged. How dare he try to take the puck from Jeremy. Jeremy opened his mouth, and from seemingly nowhere, tentacles began creeping out of Jeremy’s mouth. In what felt like the blink of an eye, Jeremy’s teammate was there, and then he was wrapped in the tentacles and making his way toward Jeremy’s mouth. Looks of sheer panic came over all of his teammates faces, and Jeremy licked his lips as a cat does while staring down at them all. The coach came over, flabbergasted, and Jeremy continued to stare back at him, blinking slowly. “Can, can you not eat my players?” he stammered out. Continuing to stare and blink, Jeremy kept looking at the man until he started to back off slightly. Hunching his back and preparing to vomit, just as suddenly as they appeared the first time, the tentacles escaped his mouth, with the hockey player inside of them. Disappearing again, the hockey player seemed covered in spit, but otherwise okay. Jeremy’s tail flicked slightly as he continued to stare at the team that was in front of him, and the hockey player he had eaten as well. “Are you okay!?” the coach yelled out, sliding over to the player. He was shaking completely, and seemed unable to do anything but nod. He wasn’t harmed, but was he okay? Well that would become a question for his therapist. “It’s not a stomach,” he finally muttered out. Jeremy continued to sit, staring at the team, tail flicking side to side. He let out a meow that could either mean, “Am I a part of the team?” or quite possibly, “What other food do you have?” Nodding at him, the coach kicked the puck his way, and Jeremy skated off, continuing to bat the puck between his paws. It was clear that Jeremy wasn’t going to go away. It was also clear that the team was absolutely terrified of what he brought to the table.
