Hey everyone it's Dale Murphy!
And with the Forge beginning their playoffs run with 2 wins, I would say it's time to break them down. Game One certainly started off on the wrong foot. With the crowd rocking and the players flying, somehow Jani Manty put a goal in just a minute into the game. Silencing the crowd, and a major damper on the playoff start to the league's best regular season team this season. Ubba Lodbok got that one back just 5 minutes later. Manty then took a penalty for hooking that led straight to an Antonio Flusso PPG. With five to go in the periord, Activity Check took a cross-checking call, and Cale Salad made the Forge 2/2 on the PP. The rough start was 3-1 by the end of the first. In the second early, Ubba Lodbrok and Clint Clampton were sent to the box to give us some 4v4 but nothing to come of it. The aforementioned Clint Clampton would make it 3-2 for the Steelhawks, but the Forge put that to rest with 4 unanswered, Hazbite, Wood, Salad with his second, and a third period second goal of the night from Lodbak gave us our 7-2 final. Just the same way Game one started, so did game two, Wide Peepo Happy 3 Koivu gave the Steelhawks an early lead on the powerplay. This one lasted far longer, but Gnabe Dobson tied the game with just under a minute to go in the first. With under 2 minutes played Cale Salad scored again, giving the Forge a 2-1 lead. Lodbak with another goal, made it 3-1. Those 2 players with 3 goals each. The third period started off with Marek Carda made in 4-1. Activity Check got himself on the scorecard to make it 4-2. Marek Carda had no interest in that, letting the 2 goal game last just 2 minutes before giving the Forge the 3 goal lead again. Busy night for Carda, two goals and a penalty. The first two games went the way you'd expect them, with the Forge handling an inferior opponent at home. The series now shifts to Hamilton. Difference Maker: Cale Salad With 4 points (3-1), and quite a few shots put at the net, the Forge's best player has done his job through two games. ---- 387 words, 2x Team Spotlight
