Good evening, and welcome to the Season 74 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I would like to remind everyone of the voting rules! Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th). Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to support their choices. These points are then totaled and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Before we celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season. Twenty players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 74 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame. Our first inductee tonight was a journeyman, playing for 5 different teams throughout his 17-season career. But just because he was well-traveled doesn't mean he didn't make an impact wherever he was. 4 All-SHL nominations and more than 600 points as a defenseman made him stand out, and the committee was more than happy to recognize his talent and success. Please join me in welcoming the first of the Class of Season 74 . . .

The 4-time All-SHL has the Stevens win, a Challenge Cup, over 1000 games played, and over 600 points. The Bojo and Mexico nominations are icing on the cake that demonstrates his ability to be among the elite at both ends of the ice." "Adam Barron has 4 All-SHL team nominations which are the most out of any eligible skater, only defender on this ballot with a Mexico nomination, also won a Stevens trophy, and has a Bojo nomination. Also put up an impressive 650 points in his career which puts him at second best amongst eligible defensemen on average and over 0.6 points per game which is best amongst pure defensemen throughout his seventeen-season career." "Adam Barron has 4 All-SHL nods, a Stevens award win, and an over .6 PPG across both the regular and postseason. His 640-point total comes second among all eligible defenders, and the only one with more spent half his career as a forward. He also has the rare distinction (for Defenseman) of being nominated for the Ron Mexico."

Our second and final inductee of this evening started his lengthy career in the tail end of the S40s, playing for Buffalo until Season 59, taking a year off (according to his stats), then bounced around the league before retiring in Buffalo after Season 66. The committee recognized his "consistently elite talent" , multiple All-SHL appearances, and awards, and were more than happy to vote him in. Please join me in congratulating our final inductee . . .

The 2-time All-SHL led the entire league in scoring earning him a Khan and Karpotsov win to go along with a Mexico nomination. Over 1000 games played he collected 857 points and 2 Cups." "Sharp was one of two Khan winners on the ballot, also has a Mexico nomination and two cup wins. Scored an impressive 857 points, and tied for the skater on this ballot with the most combined award wins/nominations" "I will happily admit to overlooking Sharp for much longer than he deserved. While he wasn't necessarily the best at anything, he still managed an exceptional 857-point total and sits above the Hall average in several categories. More importantly, he has a Khan award win to go along with a Karpotsov, and neither are common career milestones/achievements. He also of course has the (personal) prerequisite 2 All-SHL appearances, and two cups to top it all off."
