Dale Murphy Report- S77 Forge Playoffs Game 1 and 2 R2 (2x Media)
#1

Hey everyone, it's Dale Murphy
We are on the other side of our first two games here in the second round. And the Forge should be happy with how they went.

Game one did not start at well, as the Inferno controlled play, and Billy Herrington gave Atlanta the lead. But Ubba Lodbrok was able to get it back late in the period. A true backbreaker of a goal for Atlanta, and a very good period for them was still a tied game.
The second period was far more even. A penalty to Cale Salad for tripping did put the Forge on the PK for the second time for the night, but Tony Sparano got a shorty to give a 2-1 lead to Philly.
The third period started quietly. A penalty to Graj Virrok for interference about halfway through didn't result in the same as Salad's penalty, Jae-ik Barron tied the game. The tie was short lived as Antonio Flusso made it 3-2 not even a minute later. Ricky Koivu added an empty netter in the waning seconds.

Best Performers:
BASE PACK turned aside 33 of 35 for a great night from him.
Lodbrok would be named first star, his goal plus the primary assist on Sparano's.
Gnabe Dabson with 2 assists, on Sparano's and Flusso's.
Sam-Sam Emerson with 2 assists as well, the secondary on both Sparano's and Flusso's.

But for as bad as game one started, game two was a disaster. A Marek Carda major for boarding led to two Atlanta goals, by Philippe-Eko Eel and Billy Herrington's second of the series.
The start of the second period was not either what the Forge wanted as Viktor Krunk made it 3-0. Not the best night to date for BASE PACK. But the goaltender settled in nicely, and the Forge got to work. A Jiggle E Puff penalty gave the Forge their first PP of the series, which came up short, but Ubba Lodbrok scored just 20 seconds after. Ricky Koivu took the second major of the game for the Forge, but a Jiggle E Puff minor gave some 4v4. Tony Sparano made it 3-2 during the 4v4.
In the third, the Forge killed of a Ricky Koivu minor, but then were tasked with a Red Kirkby penalty. Needing to keep it a one score game with just 5:30 minutes to go. But Gnabe Dabson one uped that with a shorty to tie the game. Overtime was on it's way.
It took just 30 seconds until Barg Hazbite made it 4-3. Huge, as now the Forge have a 2-0 lead going to Atlanta.

Best Performers:
Johnny Shuffleboard assisted on both Gnabe Dabson's game tie-er and the winner from Hazbite (both secondary).
Dabson had his hand in the game-winner as well getting the primary assist. Huge plays from him. When the team needs you most as they say, and Gnabe Dabson would be named first star, with those 2 points, and the only assist on Lodbrok's goal that started the rally.
BASE PACK likley had a solid claim to that as well, giving up just 3 goals on 45 shots good for a .930. Settled in very nicely and gave his team a chance to win.

That's all folks,
I'm Dale Murphy signing off,
