Gaining TPE

First of all TPE is basically the experience you can earn to make your player better. Below is a list of ways to earn it.

For anything weekly, new week starts from Monday 12:00AM PST.

Activity Check: Once a week, you can gain 2 TPE, just by clicking the Activity Check button on your player page or on landing page on Portal.

Weekly Training: Once a week, you will have option to buy one of three Weekly Trainings. These are also available on Portal on you player page. If you buy either of the cheaper options you will have an opportunity to pay the difference in cost to upgrade to next tiers later during the week. Buying training will let you go up to $1 500 000 into negative. Following training options are available to SMJHL rookies:
$100 000 for 1 TPE
$250 000 for 2 TPE
$500 000 for 3 TPE

Team Training Camp: Similarly to Activity check, you will have option to do a Team Training Camp, once a season, just by clicking the button on Portal. From your first training camp you will gain 14 TPE.

Seasonal Coaching: Each season you have an opportunity to buy TPE in form of seasonal coaching. For SMHJL rookies total of 20 TPE is available for $4 500 000. Seasonal coaching can be bought incrementally for price of $225 000 for 1 TPE.

If player is created between trade deadline and season switch, TPE can only be earned from Activity check and Weekly training until the season switch happens, coaching or team training camp wont be available on portal.

Point Tasks: Tasks that you can do to earn TPE will be posted on this subforum. Users won’t need to claim TPE from the tasks, but instead it will be added to their player on portal once task gets graded. More about them below.

Deep Dives: Special opportunity only available during SMJHL Rookie season to earn 10 TPE by writing two 500+ word articles. More about them on their own subforum.

SHL Fantasy: Each offseason you have opportunity to sign up for SHL fantasy, everyone who finishes their draft will receive $1 000 000 and about top 50% of the users will gain 1 to 8 TPE based on their performance in their group as well as globally compared to others.

Catch Up TPE: Shortened to CUTPE on Portal, automatically added to your player when they get approved if you created more than week from the last trade deadline.

Planning for the future: After your rookie season coaching will get more expensive, costing up to $8 500 000 for 28 TPE, there will be new weekly training available, $1 000 000 for 5 TPE and amount of TPE earned from Team Training Camp will change depending on how many seasons it has been from your SHL draft, from 24 TPE during the season you get drafted to 6 TPE starting from 4th seasons after the draft.

Opportunities for money: Money plays important role in earning TPE from training and coaching. There are some unique opportunities available when you are starting out. Only during your players first season you can earn up to $9 000 000 from Rookie Tasks, which are available on their own subforum. Note that these are available only once for each user and not for each player, if you miss them on your first player you can complete them during your future players rookie seasons.

For those that join after Trade Deadline but before season switch there will be opportunity to earn some money from DFA Bounties, also on their own sub forum under SMJHL Player Progression.

Chirper, media and graphics will be available for everyone for all of your career. Also keep your eyes open for Jobs.

Spending TPE

Similarly how you created your player, you can update their attributes by spending the TPE. This can be done on your player page on portal, by opening the drop down menu from three dashes on Attributes header.

You can also redistribute 80 TPE each season for free.

Eligibility

On SMJHL Player Progression, Point Tasks are for the SMJHL Rookies only, so players that are not yet drafted to SHL. Each tasks specifies who they are and are not for. If you are unsure of which season (S**) your player is you can check that on portal, it is listed after your players name, this refers to your SHL draft season. So S79 after your players name means your player is S79 SHL draftee, also meaning they are S78 SMJHL rookie. Users will get no TPE for doing tasks they aren’t supposed to do.

As season swap happens before SHL draft, TPE checklist might show tasks the user is yet not eligible during the offseason after their rookie season in SMJHL.

About Tasks and Requirements

Most of the PTs are either prediction tasks or creative prompts that require users to write up to 150 words or create a graphic. Requirements like word count are listed on opening post for each PT. Graders can give less or no TPE if those requirements are not met or the submission is too low quality.

If user posts multiple replies to prediction tasks with proper answers only the last one will be graded.

Users who have PT pass, offseason pass (used to be called CW pass) or are to receive average TPE from PT based on site job they have, they will need to reply to thread before deadline to receive the TPE.

Wordcounter on site isn’t reliable as it doesn't recognize some characters and basically counting them as spaces splitting the words and inflating the number of words. It is advised to either use another word counter (for example wordcounter.net) or try to hit at least 160 words for 150 word tasks to ensure being over the required word count. Also note that copying the prompt from the opening post that isn’t included in the word count.

If graphic submission to PT cannot be viewed at the time of grading (for example if user links the image from Discord that only hosts images for limited time) user might not gain any TPE.

Using AI to write your submissions or create your graphics is forbidded. Any such submissions will receive 0 TPE and TPE from past PTs can be removed at later date if they are found out to be created by AI. Creating your own graphic using AI created assets is still allowed.

Schedule and Deadlines

For most PTs expected due date is about a week from them being posted. If any PTs fall behind on schedule their deadline will be moved accordingly. Exception to both are some prediction tasks which are tied to the sim or site schedule.

PT department uses PST for all the deadlines and threads are set to automatically lock at the deadline. For simplicity we use PST to reference both PST and PDT. Should there be issues with automod and thread closes early, users can post their submission on Chirper (or elsewhere) and send link to it to user who created the task. You should expect regular PTs and mPTs to be posted on Monday mornings and be due on Sunday 11:59 PM PST. Primetimes should be posted on Friday morning and be due on next Friday 9:00AM PST.
