New England Pt1.5 Winning
#1

Ok so now the fun part of all rebuildings. Being actually good.
Incase you didnt read part one a big TLDR

TLDR of part one:

Became GM of New England in the S62 offseason. Thought I would do it temporarily but ended up committing to being the GM. Tried to compete in S63, but ended up backfiring so went with a rebuild. Sucked from S64->S67. Within that time frame drafting players and trading for some players. Trading for most notably, Makrus Tater, Cup Noodle, Petr Svoboda, Borje Samuelsson, Paul Koivu, and Olof Karsikko.

Then got Burlok Sulfurgold in FA in S68.  Along with having prospects like Ivan Lacksamus, Outdoor Truck, Jayson Aittokallio, Seamus O’Slapahan.

The S69 draft went well too! Drafting Pork Tenderloin with the 9th OA pick. Having his best season this season! Leading the league in points at the moment of writing.

Entering S69

S69

S68 to S69 offseason we acquired Kayden Pale back from CHI for a 2nd and a conditional 2nd if he was on my roster in S71. Which from the start I had no intention of keeping, as we needed another defenseman to round out the team with Seider not really cutting it. Trading Seider away for a 2nd to NOLA soon after the trade. Also traded longtime IA Johnny Tsunami away for another 2nd. The price for like around 900 TPE Inactives was strong, and I was able to get 2 2nds all while getting a great player in Kayden Pale for a 2nd and a conditional 2nd that was not happening. Not only that but we also called up top prospect Edward Elric as well.

With the roster of

Koivu - Jager- Sulfurgold
Elric - Lacksamus - Svoboda
Towelie - Aittokallio - Truck

Noodle - Pale
Samuelsson - O’Slapahan
Bara- Yxshaft

S69 is when we took our first leap into being an elite team in this league. Breaking out for a 45-17-4 record we ended up with being 6th in the league in points that season. On Top of that we had Karsikko getting nominated for the John McBride award and 2nd all star team. With Eggward Elric getting the Jesster nom and Rookie All Star team.

Most importantly though, we went deep in the playoffs. Beating Buffalo in the 1st round 4-0. Then beating Montreal in the 2nd round 4-2. Then getting swept in the conference finals by Philly 0-4.

“ So, that was the end of the season. If you aren't aware, we finished 6th in the league, 45-17-4. We beat Buffalo in the first round 4-0 in the series, beat Montreal in the 2nd round 4-2, and fell to Philly in the conference finals 0-4. Sad ending to the season, hate getting swept, some unlucky bounces here and there and who knows. BUT, it was a damn good season.

Thank you everyone who was on the roster this season, this was one of my favorite seasons as a GM ever. Thank you to Jeffie who is our coach and co-gm, helped us get to this point where we are. This season I was expecting the 1st round win, I was happy that we got 2. Beating Montreal was great, one of the top teams in the league and we won. If the coin flips went our way we would be in the finals, but luckily we are an extremly young team. This season was the start of the run of being an elite team in this league.

Almost everyone is not in regression yet, almost everyone is about to be reaching their peak TPE. We have the young prospects that can replace the old vets, we have the vets that want to stay here. Not a lot will change this offseason, we will get better because we will just continue to update. We are calling up our prospects in runningman and hammer to help. I am excited for the future of this team.

Thank you,
Luke

S70

In this offseason, as we were getting pressed up against the cap, we needed to get some cap relief. And we got it in a trade! Acquiring defenseman Sven Svechnikov for our S70 1st, as Manhattan was taking the dive into rebuilding. With that, we subsequently traded away Kayden Pale for a CGY S73 1st. Swapping for a better defenseman and getting a hopefully better pick out of that as well. Calgary was really trying to become better or compete for the cup. So being desperate, I had offers for 2nds only, then the GM at the time was able to beat it with a future 1st. Not only that but we also called up what I thought were the last of the prospects we needed in order to be a good team. Forward Jaques Hammer and defenseman Sean Davies. Both young and promising. As well as the last of the S62-S67 core I envisioned.

So going into the season we had a line of

Truck - Lacksamus - Svoboda
Koivu - Jager - Elric
Sulfurgold - Aittokallio - Hammer

O’Slapahan - Samuelsson
Svechnikov - Noodle
Davies - Yxskaft

Then in S70 in the regular season we had a similar season. Went 41-19-6 for 88 points and 6th OA in the standings. The 2nd season of being actual competitors. Not favorite at all to win the cup, but scrapy enough to try to win some important games.

So here comes Round 1 with the Buffalo Stampede. We have home ice advantage

1st game: 7 -3 win - Olof with a .930 SV% and Svoboda with 2 goals on the game
2nd game: 2 - 3 loss
3rd game: 6 - 3 win - Olof with .910 SV% and Aitokallio with a 2 goal game to keep us in the lead
4th game: 2- 4 loss
5th game: 3 - 1 win - Olof with a .970 SV% and Svoboda again with 2 goals to get us the win
6th game 4-5 loss in OT
7th game: 9-0 win - Olof with the shutout and an absolute drubbing of the stampede to get us the game 7 win

Onto round 2 against the Montreal Patriotes. This time we do not have home ice advantage. This time around Montreal were the favorites to win against us and frankly to win the cup. Coming in 4th in the league that season. They were at their peak

1st game: 3 -2 win  - Olof Karisikko with a .940 SV% to get us the victory
2nd game: 2 - 5 loss
3rd game: 4 -3 win in OT - Olof Karisikko with a .950 SV% to get us the victory.
4th game: 2 - 1 win in OT - Olof Karisikko with a .970 SV% to get us the victory
5th game: 4-7 loss
6th game: 2-3 loss
7th game: 4-3 win - onto the conference finals

Conference finals would be the start of a long rivalry with the Philadelphia Forge. The only team that we have faced in the conference finals since S70 onwards. Who was 1st in the league in points, and massive favorites in the series

1st game: 4 - 7 loss
2nd game: 5- 2 win - Olof with a .950 SV% and Svoboda with 2 goals
3rd game: 4-5 loss
4th game: 4-3 win - Olof with a .930 SV% and Outdoor turck with a 4 point game to get us the victory
5th game: 2- 5 loss
6th game: 2-1 win - to force us to game 7, Olof with a .970 SV% and Ivan Lacksamus with the GWG
7th game: 6-3 win - the 3rd game 7 win in a row. To get us into the finals. Olof with a .920 SV%, Jager with 2 goals. Edward Elric with the GWG.

Now onto the finals. Against the team that just went to the finals. The Winnipeg Aurora. The other juggernaut in the league. With a great S62 core and nothing to stop them. They came out of the gates strong

1st game: 1 - 7 loss. And a 21 - 48 shot differential
2nd game: 2 - 5 loss. A 27 - 52 shot differential. Not looking great. But we go back home. And we made the most of it
3rd game: 9-4 win. Olof with a .900 SV% flat. Elric with 2 goals, Lacksamus with 2 goals, and Tater with the GWG. The shots were better. 47 - 41 shot differential
4th game: 4- 0 win. Olofs 2nd shutout of the playoffs. 33 - 31 shot differential.
5th game: 5-6 loss. Brutal but close loss. But down 2-3 in the series
6th game: 3-2 Overtime win. This is when we started to believe. Olof played out of his mind. A .960 SV%, Paul Koivu with the GWG goal in overtime. And we head into game 7
7th game: 6-3 win. Olof with a .920 SV%. Seamus O’Slapahan with the game winning goal. Going down 2 goals in the 1st. Ivan Lacksamus and Jacques Hammer tied it up later in that period. 2 minutes into the 2nd period, Burlok Sulfurgold opened the 2nd getting us to a 3-2 lead. But 5 minutes later they tied it back up. Then with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd Seamus O’Slapahan scored to give us the lead. Then in the 3rd, Edward Elric with the 5th goal, and Petr Svoboda with the Empty Net goal to put the dagger into it.

The New England Wolfpack were your S70 Challenge Cup Winners. 4 straight series that went to game 7. 4 game 7 winners.
Petr Svoboda with the GWG in game 7 against BUF
Edward Elrich with the GWG in game 7 against MTL
Edward Elrich with the GWG in game 7 against PHI
Seamus O’Slapahan with the GWG in game 7 against WPG

This was the longest playoff run in the history of the SHL. No one else has played 28 games in the playoffs before. And we were the champions. Couldnt be done without everyone involved. But most importantly the Anton Razov Winner. Olof Karsikko. Posting a 32.91 Goals Saved Above Average.

Everyone did their part. Petr Svoboda leading the way with 19 goals and 13 assists with 32 points. Ivan Lacksamus with 30 points. Tater with 29, and Truck with 29.

There were a couple players I was super happy about getting the cup to.

4 players I have in mind

Borje Samuelsson - R1c3Bowl. In his like 8 years of being in the SHL. That was his first SHL Challenge Cup. I am super proud that I was able to get him it
Cup Noodle - Someone I brought in and he believed in me that he could win a cup here. And I fulfilled that promise to him. Super happy to get him that cup
Tater - Someone I brought in through a trade. When NEW was not a good team, but had a lot of promise. And he believed in me and gave his best years TPE wise in order to try to win the cup with me. And he got that and a MVP trophy out of it
Sven Yxskaft. - Kenvald. Someone that stuck the rebuild out. Someone who wanted to be apart of the wolfpack through thick and thin. Someone that truly deserved to win the cup with New England. In his twilight years of his career, won it with us. I am super proud of that

For that S70 season, Olof Karsikko was nominated for the John Mcbride. Won Anton Razov, and got 3rd all star team. Petr Svoboda was nominated for the Razov and got 3rd all star team. Then Ivan Lacksamus was nominated for the Jeff Dar award as well.

Onto S71.

My plan of being a great team has just started.

Edward Elric wanted to see new teams, so we traded him to Edmonton in exchange for great prospect Antoine Beauregard. Trading up a couple spots I drafted Adelbert Steiner who ultimately did not pan out. I drafted Scary Jerry in the 2nd round as well. For call ups we called up forward Matiss Ozolinsh as well who we replaced Edward Elric with. So went back a bit in TPE, but still gained a younger player for the season

I also traded for Caleb Hayden, as the user was co-gm of SFP and retired to recreate. So I gladly acquired him to be a backup to Olof to try to get him the cup.

So with the roster of

Svoboda - Lacksamus - Sulfurgold
Hammer - Aittokallio - Ozolinsh
Truck - Jager - Koivu

O’Slapahan - Samuelsson
Davies - Yxshaft
Svechnikov - Noodle

Karsikko
Hayden

So off to S71 we go. And we excelled. We got 2nd in the league, with a record of 50-13-3. With Ivan Lacksamus getting 4th in points that season amongst all forwards. As well as Borje Samuelson leading all defensemen in points with 81. Sadly, I think we used all of our luck in the regular season.

In the playoffs we easily dispatched Tampa Bay in 5 games. However, in round 2 against the Buffalo Stampede… We got swept. A heartbreaker, however Buffalo beat the Winnipeg Aurora in 6 in order to win the Challenge Cup. So we lost to the team that won it all. What can you do.

It is that time again, I'm sorry that this message came sooner this season than last season. But... we got swept in round 2 against Buffalo, which is unfortunate. It sucks to see the sweep, after this amazing season, but that is the life of the playoffs. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some. Thank you all for this great regular season though! We reached new heights as a team in the regular season. A lot of personal achievements that I am proud to help. I would like to say thank you!

The goal of the team is to constantly be in the playoffs, in order to get as many kicks of the can as possible. Though it does suck that we won the cup last season just to lose in the 2nd. We will be back though, I promise you that. I Would like to say thank you to @kenvald @Burcup Sevengold - Burlok Sulf  and @Vulfzilla  who will most likely not come back. Thank you for all your seasons here. Thank you for believing in my vision for the team. I am lucky to GM you guys, and I am happy to win the cup. @Caleb , I am sorry I couldnt win you that cup. And we all know SFP won't win one for you anyway :KEKW:

Go Pack :AWOOO:

In terms of the regular season however, we had a great season. With Olof Karsikko getting another McBride nom. Borje Samuelsson getting a Mexico nomination as a defenseman. As well as winning the Scott Stevens and the Aidan Richan. And Sven Svechnikov winning the Turd Ferguson. Borje getting 1st all star, Ivan getting 2nd all start, and Tater getting 3rd all star

Onto Season 72

We started by not making any moves in the offseason. The first in a while. However we called up recently traded for prospect Antoine Beauregard and top prospect Pork Tenderloin on defense. With Tenderloin replacing Yxshaft on the defensive end. Then Beauregard replaced Sulfurgold on the forward end. Making our teams so much younger as we replaced our 2 oldest players.

So with the roster of

Koivu - Lacksamus - Truck
Svoboda - Aittokallio - Hammer
Ozolinsh - Jager - Beauregard

O’Slapahan - Davies
Samuelsson - Svechnikov
Tenderloin - Lothbrook

Karsikko

The biggest move was made In the middle of S72 we made a trade with Toronto. Bringing in prospect Nathan Cormier and defensemen Conner Tanner in exchange for Ragnar Lothbrook, Colt fox, a conditional 1st(that hit), and a 2nd. We acquired a really good prospect in Cormier, and my future co-gm.

In the regular season we were the best team in the league. 51-15-0 for 102 points. Leading the league in points, and leading the league in points. Not only that but our very own Ivan Lacksamus led the league in points that season with 131. Seamus O’Slapahan also led the defensemen in points with 73. We are really hitting our stride in both as a team and individually. Getting players to reach their peaks and win awards. But as a team we were dominant. It was a lot of fun just winning a fuckton and never losing. The locker room was great as well. Really coming together with older guys and then the new players. Having everyones but Conner Tanner earning. Going into the playoffs we were feeling good about our chances

And it was pretty easy too. First round we dispatched Tampa Bay easily. Sweeping them, with the scores of 5 -3, 8-2, 6-5 OTW, and then a 11-0 win to seal the deal. Moving on from that we had Montreal, who was a dominant team as well. Placing 5th in the league in points that season. However, we were easily able to beat them as well. With the scores of 5-3,4-1,5-4,1-5, and then an 8-1 win to seal the deal. And with that, Montreal’s playoff runs from S68-S72 came to an end. With them blowing it up after that season.

Then came the conference finals against the Philadelphia Forge. A tough series for sure

1st game: 5 - 2 win
2nd game: 7 - 3 win
3rd game: 5 - 4 win

Now you might be thinking. Cmon NEW you just won 3 games. How tough can it be. Well…

4th game: 4 - 7 loss
5th game: 2 - 4 loss
6th game: 2 - 4 loss

Ruh roh. Easy comes easy goes with that. But, we got 1 more game left. And we are home. So time to win or get reversed swept

7th game: 6 - 2 win!

Onto the finals against who other than the Winnipeg Aurora. 2nd time facing each other in the finals. Lets see how it goes

1st game: 7 - 3 win
2nd game 6 -7 OTL
3rd game: 0 - 4 loss
4th game: 0 -5 loss
5th game: 3-5 loss

Ooof. the presidents trophy curse for real. But well played to Winnipeg. This was their 4th final in a row and they were able to seal the deal. In the locker room I said

“Thank you all for a great season! It is unfortunate that we lost to Winnipeg in the Finals. A couple bad goals here and there, and different luck and it would have went the other way. But it is an achievement still, to get to the finals and win the Presidents trophy. I would like to thank you all for an amazing season. Like always, this offseason is the time for me to improve the team. And we will improve. We are still the best team in the East. We will get back to the finals again, and win again like we did in S70. I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish. I can't wait for next season.

Thank you for @CountChocula  for a great rookie season! Next season will be better

Congrats to everyone reaching bigger and bigger milestones. @thiefofcheese - Ivan Lacksamus @Simon - Paul Koivu :3 @Makrus "The Tater" Jager  all are in the top 10 in points for the Wolfpack. @Boomerang?? -Seamus O'Slapahan @r1cebowl22 - Borje Samuelsson  are charging up as well for defensemen

It wont be our last time there.

S72 is probably our best season awards wise.

We got Ivan Lacksamus winning the Ron Mexico, Sarmad Khan, Sergei Karpotsov, 1st All Star team, and a Anton Razov nomination

Seamus O’Slapahan won the Bojo Biscuit, Scott Stevens, Ron Mexico Nomination, won the Aidan Richan, and 1st all star team

Outdoor Truck was nominated for the Aidan Richan

Borje Samuellson was 2nd all star team

Now onto S73

Season 73

In S73 we also said goodbye to a longtime player in Paul Koivu. With 2 2nds sending him to Hamilton. Where he wanted to get back to. In exchange for Thomas Sawschuk and a future 1st. With Sawschuk being the future forward to eventually be a stud on the roster today. We traded that S74 1st to Tampa Bay in order to do a sign and trade to acquire forward Bruno Tooyo. So replacing Paul Koivu and getting a prospect in return. Still being a top tier team, we called up Cormier

Our lines were

Svboda - Lacksamus - Truck
Cormier - Tokyo - Beauregard
Ozolinsh - Jager - Hammer

O’Slapahan - Davies
Tenderloin - Samuelsson
Aittokallio - Svenchnikov

Karsikko

And surprisingly we led the league again in points. With a dominant record of 53-11-2! The 2nd season in a row winning the presidents trophy.

Not only that but our players were out of this world, doing record breaking things. With Ivan Lacksamus breaking the single season record for most points. WIth 142 points that season. We also had Seamus O’Slapahan come in 2nd in points by defensemen with 78. We have really peaked as a team. Being one of the top teams in the league, and making sure that we earn every single win. Olof Karsikko led the league in SV% in 0.918 as well. Now onto the playoffs

We easily beat Toronto in 5 games. With the scores of 4-5 loss, 12-2 win, 6-2 win, 4-3 OTW, and 8 - 1 win in order to win that series. Against hamilton it was a bit harder. Beating them in 6 games. With a 5-1 win, 10-0 win, 3-5 loss, 6-2 win, 2-4 loss, then finally a 6-1 win. We were rolling well into the conference finals. Where we face Philadelphia again! The other juggernaut in the league and in our conference.

However this season was not our season to go all the way. With a hard fought 6 game series. We lost in the conference finals… And the president's trophy curse continued. And with that, ended our S73 season. Regular season we did amazing as well. In the playoffs we fell short than our goal to be in back to back finals.

We once again cleaned up the awards.

With Ivan Lacksamus winning the Jac McDonald with Evan Winter, winning the Ron Mexico for the 2nd time in a row, and winning the Sergei Karpotsov, as well as a 1st all star team.

We also had Seamus O’Slapahan get nominated for the bojo Biscuit and Scott Stevens again. Then another 1st all star team

Ivan Lacksamus winning the John McBride for his 1st time in his career, as well as the Mike Honcho.

We will have to see how S74 stacks up, but for now. That will be the end of pt 1.5. As we went through 5 seasons of events. Pt 2 will be S74 - S77, so the next 4 seasons worth of events. This is also where I feel is when we were at our peak in terms of being one of the top teams in the league. We are still a great team, but S74+ is when we shifted towards a consistent 4-8th place seeding. While being a sustainable team like Buffalo. So its naturally a good ending point. Look out for part 2
