It is pretty easy to nominate Tomen for any individual award that the SHL can bestow onto someone part of our community. Tomen was a long time serving Buffalo General manager and he was a pillar of the SHL community. I have been lucky to share a locker room with him for the past few years since joining the league. He is kind to every single person that joins the league regardless if they are on Buffalo. We are lucky to have someone like Tomen in our community and I think it is time that he started to get his flowers for everything he has done for the league.

Let's talk about the best player on the Philly Forge for season 77. There's only one clear answer, and a few that could be up there as well. But this player led the team in Points with 124, goals with 60, assists with 64. Most Even strength goals, most power play goals, most power play asssists, most short handed assists, had an astounding 20.9% shooting percentage, played more minutes than anyone else, won more face offs, hadf 10 game winning goals. It's the one and only Cale Salad. It should be mentioned that while Cale Salad led the team in all those categories, he did so while being on the best team in the league. To finish off the season he only dragged 1 goal behind viktor hargreeves, 13 assists behind Chris Valentine, but did end up being the leagues top points getter. It's also crazy that there were 3 other players who had a better shot% than he did. All of this effort helped him catapult the Philadelphia Forge to the top of the standings and win the President's Trophy for best team in the league. This should put Cale as a first All Star Team player, and should give him a leg up on winning the league MVP trophy.

It shall be called the hall of extraordinarily average players. The players who never get an award, never get considered for an awards, never make it to the all star team, squeak through the playoffs without winning a cup. It's a pretty obvious distinction as to who will make this hall and who will make the "other" hall. It's a tough call, but some one has to recognize these average players for being stalwarts on their team and being generally good "team players". But never quite good enough to win anything. This could be due to injury, black magic, a curse put on them, or just them being good enough. Will this catch on?

If there had to be another Hall, it would be called the Hall of Wannabes, because it is for those that truly want to be in the main hall, or it is for those who truly believe they belong in there, even though they might not deserve it. You obviously could not be a part of both because it is for those who almost made it, but never fully. It is something you are not eligible in being apart of until your entire tenure for your hall of fame eligibility is gone, because it is not possible to be almost there, and fully there at the same time. You will be selected by receiving a certain amount of votes throughout your hall of fame chances. So basically if you need 80% of voters to get into the HOF, and you only get like 70% of votes each year, you will be eligible to get into the hall of wannabes.

Team Spotlight series brought us some quality graphics and media, one of them being FuriousChicken’s series on draft numbers of each SHL team, highlighting seasons, rounds, positions and teams they made their picks from. All in all there is a lot of cool data to anyone who likes charts. Personally I was most interested to see where each team drafted their prospects. While most teams draft from almost anywhere there are clearly some teams that feed into certain SHL teams, as shown on the last graph of the linked article. Do you think the league is in a healthy place when it comes to pipelines for SHL players or should we aim for even more even spread among teams? Or maybe you would like to see even more players carrying on their careers with teammates from SMJHL?

Looking back at some of those graphics from the articles, I do think we are at a pretty good point of where players are carrying from the minors to the big leagues. If it is affecting teams as a whole becoming to strong, then we may have a case for that, but as it is, it only seems to be select few that will not play for teams unless they are with friends. We also have to remember that this league thrives off of the connection that we make with each other in the locker room, so if you bond/vibe with someone that much that you want to carry it over into another team, I see nothing wrong with that what so ever. I think the main issue maybe comes from once those players retire, they try to do the same in the minors, which causes more difficulty, as the high picks are usually ones that matter the most. If you have two top players in the minors draft, we should not be letting them team up together, unless they are paying significant draft capital to acquire this other player/players as well. The health of the minors usually determines the next stages, especially for the newer players, so discouraging them from the beginning is not the answer we need if teaming up from players is a problem.

4. Who are the best players you shouldn’t pick in fantasy? Why?

Now I may not be no fantasy expert but I am going to attempt this question and I think Nevek Kove is a big name that will be overdrafted for how their performance will be during the season. Being a retired player we do expect some decline from last season and I have seen some people draft him super high which may not be good but who knows they may be cooking. Then another hot take is Viktor Hargreeves has a fall off year and to be honest the only reason I am thinking this is sim will be the sim, Hargreeves has one of the strongest groups around him so should still be good but who knows.

You start with Chris Valentine as the face of the party. He steps up wherever he needs to, he can be vocal, and everybody just likes him.
Marton Diehm (that’s me!) will slot into the sneaky role. Often under the radar, he’s there to quietly make the party shine, to rough people up when they need it, and he’ll step in for the final blow when necessary.
Hodor joins up as the protector, the tank. He can absorb all the blows, is never afraid to put his body on the line, and he makes his presence known even without saying much.
Anthony Dionne and Dirty Boots are going to be wizards. They’re a bit fragile as they get up in years, but they’ve spent that time gaining wisdom and making the magic which holds this party and this team together.

You have to give Hodor the Bojo Biscuit. It’s his sixth season in a row leading the league in blocked shots. Yes, this one was a bit closer than some of the previous ones, but he also stepped up for his career high in hits this season. Now in his 8th SHL season, he’s only have ever finished one with a full season Defensive Game Rating below 80 (and that was his rookie season). It’s an absolute travesty that he doesn’t have a hutch full of Biscuit trophies at this point. In fact, he only has one! I don’t know who anyone could think is a more defensive defenseman at this point, season after season. Maybe it’s his fault for getting more and more assists now, as if that’s making him slack on the defensive side. But everyone in Texas knows the big guy is the one to rely on to hold down the fort while other D was McCarty are free to really get involved in the offense.

2. Who will be the star of the All-star game? Why you think they will be better than the rest?

With the All-Star game not yet announced, I am afraid to let everyone know that I have the leaked rosters. In fact, it's an easy leak that made me doubt its veracity but I know it's a true one. All the people who may think they know any of the players who were announced are faked out, there is a big new twist this season for the all star game and it is a doozy. In fact I think most players will be surprised to realize that this season is the season of the one player all star game. In a shocking twist, the head office of the SHL has decided that there is only one star in the league and he is the starting center for the Quebec City Citadelles. In a huge twist, we've got my player 3WW Wingmate Roc cloned 20 times and each team will be twenty copies of Wingmate Roc. It goes without saying that the star of this game will be the star of the league, 3WW Wingmate Roc. In fact, to commemerate this event, the SHL trading cards will become packs of Khans of Tarkir and we will just start playing duel commander to figure out who wins games.

6. If you had to form RPG party with 4 of your team mates, who would you pick and which role would they play?

My RPG party is a team of dead players (graduated to SHL). I am alone, my teammates of the Solbergs are gone, the glory days of quests (winning the cup) are behind me as we lose in the first round of the playoffs. Celly D remains a distant memory as the adventurer's guild recruits fresh blood for the ice based slaughter machine that is the SHL. Surely one day i'll be back to my glory but it is not now and may not be for a long time. After all, the larger guild of the forge loses a lot and makes the playoffs for no reason!

3/ My three favourite items in the auction are the ability to design the Québec City Citadelles's ice, the chance to be the first guest on Troy and Seany's podcast and the shrine to your SHL player. Designing an Ice is always a fun thing to do and of course there is also the fact you got to do that with the best team in the J (no bias there at all) so that's just an extra bonus. The podcast spot is also great because you can have some fun and talk with some really great people from the SHL in Troy and Seany. And last but not least, who wouldn't love a shrine of their own player? The idea itself is so funny that it's great so love that one too. And the best about all these items is the simple fact that you're donating to a good cause, after all there is hardly any feeling that's better than helping people.

It would be incredibly hard to form a 4 man party with any teammates, unless technically, it would just be about forming said party. As some of my teammates may attest, with the real life component almost always in the way, it's almost impossible to play video games nowadays. Everyone is always busy, nobody replies to my invitations, or has the game proposed. However now that I think about it, I have actually formed a 4 man party for Baldur's Gate 3 two weeks ago albeit two members aren't teammates of mine. This kind of came out of nowhere one day, but Ace, HFFO, Ruggsy and I have formed this unique alliance. I usually play the support role or healer in RPGs, but I didn't mind doing whatever this time around. I don't know much about this game and these guys are all veterans of multiple campaigns but I believe it goes like this: Ruggsy is our tank with a big flaming sword, HFFO is a monk that will punch you in the face, Ace is a bard and master of the lute and I play a ranger that will shoot from high ground. But then I looked up more guides and this fire sorcrer seemed interesting so I changed classes, but I was still using a crossbow, and now I'm dual wielding a staff and a wand and I look stupid. But this is our party and I look forward to play with them every thursday.

Viktor Hargreeves is gearing up to be the greatest player of all time. He's a must-have for fantasy teams, and had an incredible run in the IIHF round robin. He's the core of a very powerful San Francisco Pride team currently, and is at the peak of his career. Last season, he was circulated as a popular pick for many awards, and the awards won in S76 is crazy. I'm expecting him to win just as many this season, and definitely to make the all-star games. He would probably even be a captain of one of the teams if that was the format due to his popularity on the ice. Viktor is a franchise player for the Pride, and no doubt will lead them to many more finals along with a standout roster. His contributions on the ice are just as valuable as those he has made in the locker room, and if he's not already a captain on the team officially, he's definitely one in spirit. He will continue to make great strides and set new franchise and league records. He's going to be the most popular player in this all star season, and I bet most of the fans coming will be there to see him.

7. Which PT(s) should be changed, how and why?

I don't like that the Championship Week PT task was changed to take place over 2 weeks. It's hard to rally the energy to write long PTs so close together, especially when all the other leagues still have the 1 championship week. It's also quite annoying that the all star week PT is due before the all star list has been posted, as I believe the reason why it was split was to give more attention to the ASG. I think this season it's a bit stupid. Everything else is fine and I like the mPTs, but if the all star list was going to be postponed, this PT should have as well, or we should go back to the end of season + all star CW format.

3. My favorite Charity Auction items are 1) whatever Jess decides to crochet. It’s a cute way to inject some creativity and homemade quality to a charity auction and really homes in on the interpersonal element of sim leagues, which often go underestimated. If I were any user I’d take that easily over copies of FHM8 or a month of discord basic. 2) I also think Toast’s Roasts is a cute way to encourage auctions. [72, +1]

12. The Hall of Fame has a ridiculously long list of players that will probably never make it in – I mean, look at how few inductees there are on a seasonal basis compared to the length of candidates who have been waiting for their turn for, like, 15 seasons or whatever the limit is. A separate hall might be the (Team-Specific) Hall of the Pretty Good Players With Lots of TPE, where we at least reward longitudinal dedication for users who have hit somewhere close to the 2K club and just haven’t had players that can casually collect awards – whether that’s from a challenging team situation they dedicated themselves to trying to remedy in any way they could, putting up great stats in a team that just got unlucky in the playoffs, or anything else. Every team could add one player to the list every three seasons or so, meaning the team wouldn’t be able to just load the league up with all of their vaguely significant player, but all of those who have significant dedication to their teams at least can get recognized at some point. It encourages some degree of loyalty between players and teams (and maybe it’d only be available for players who played 10+ seasons on their respective Hall-electing team) even in the prime of their careers as a competitor for jumping off to ring chase. 3. the auction for naming the discord bot is going to take all of my money. I personally think it is dumb that we are going to rename the bot from the dude who made it because people don’t like him but if I do win this I will be sure to rename the asron bot “asron bot”
4. No one in the league should be picking gnabe dabson in fantasy this is mostly due to his propensity to drink heavily prior to games and this will leave his performance to be highly variable. This has nothing to do with my desire to make sure that I can draft my own player in every draft.
5. the best way to stea money from luke is to have some dumb auction that makes him want to pay a sum of money to make sure someone else does not fuck it up. What I wil llikley do is have an auction for a team rebrand and luke will for sure bid to make sure that the name stays the same. It is very smart
6. I would pick gabe, gurbs and bloos. This is just for the memes. They all are going to be the jester and will make sure to make jokes all the time. They wont be able to do much else so we are just gonna chill and play a low key game. This is the best way to build a team with the Phorge guys.

Every heist has four important roles: the mastermind, the distractor, the muscle, and the get away driver.

Obviously Jiggle is the distractor. He will do an impromptu concert to distract the guards and put everyone asleep. Hotdog obviously is the mastermind as he's the mastermind behind Atlanta. Micool is the muscle because he's the strongest man I know. Who else could eat a whole bagel in one sitting? Man's mad. Jepox is the getaway driver because he got so sick of missing the bus to school every day that he went out and bought a bus to drive himself to school, so he's a pro driver.
