S78 PT #3: Dress to Impress Due: Sunday, September 1st @ 11:59 PM PST
#91

Sydney Shaw has been known as of late to no longer care what other people think of her. Hopefully other people can learn this rare skill. There has been a shift in her attitude in the last year, more focused on her own success in a self loving way, and that has obviously reflected in her pre game outfit. She still aims to be presentable. But the days of stuffy and uncomfortable pant suits are over. She has turned towards the WNBA for inspiration. Comfortable and fashionable. Their outfits are truly amazing. What a great combo. Also it lets Shaw express her eccentric creative side through her fashion. Her teamates are fully supportive, some have even joined her. Media was skeptical at first but seem to be hoping on the train. The goal is to get this to spread and become the new trend. Be yourself. Do not change because you are "supposed" to.

WRITTEN OPTION 1

Aumy Junior II is all about the business. He is a professional hockey player who is mostly focused only on hockey. To be fair, he doesn't love to wear any outstanding outfits. He usually wears a solid suit and some shoes that fit well the outfit. He loves to be as professional as he can. He doesn't follow any trends or what other athletes are wearing. However, sometimes when he is more lazy, he loves to wear something fresh. For example, some cool jeans or shorts with some Jordan shoes and Calvin Klein t-shirt. He just understands that he isn't a fashion guru, but a hockey player. Everyone has their niche and fashion isn't his. He respects art and how unique everyone is dressing, but he isn't following the train. It's better to be unique on the ice, not with clothes. He thinks that many athletes should understand it and focus on what they are making living of.

Option 1

My team mates think it is hilarious what I wear to game days. It is quite simple really, I want to be comfortable and look like I give a shit. I have a, what I call, a "one piece suit." Now you may be wondering what that means exactly. It means, I have a custom made union suit that looks like a three piece suit. It has a zipper in the front, and a nice button patch on the rear. It is warm, so I will not be cold in the rink or winter, and it is classy looking. I have been tempted to wear it during cocktail parties, but feel like I would get too much attention. All press is good press though, right? I really do not care what someone wears before a game. As long as it covers the necessary bits, you should be good to go. Now, maybe there are exceptions to this. Like on Pride Nights, you obviously wear the rainbow colored one and show your support to all people. After all, hockey IS for everyone.

Option 1
Willow is a mixed bag when it comes up to dressing up for gameday. Granted San Francisco doesn’t enforce a strict policy on what players can wear but most of the team tends to dress business casual to appear nice. Willow does not do this. Willow for almost every occasion will show up in a team hoodie and joggers with some running shoes which makes her stick out like a bit of a sore thumb when doing team walkthroughs. For the most part the team doesn’t care about it, it was an issue with some veteran players when Willow was a rookie but now that she’s the veteran no one really cares. The media takes more of an issue with it, as you’ll see on ESPN articles and panel shows about how Willow has no respect for tradition and the old boys clubs and similar, to which her answer was “I literally could not care less.”

Option 1
"At first when it came to fashion, I had a weird mix of wanting to be flashy but cautious. Most outfits would be very expensive and with my dangerous lifestyle, it was bound for tears and rips to happen. Getting the chance to not only have the money for outfits but a way to express it for a small amount of time before gameday.. it's special and I savor it greatly. I have a good mix of how I want to arrive to the arena: Flashy, Silly, Tributes and 'I just woke up get the camera out of my face pls'. Flashy is simply who I am as a person, my style of fashion wearing my own custom pieces or something you can easily see from afar. Silly outfits for the stadium because the social media absolutely loves it... and so does the locker room. Tribute attires are fun to pay homage to those I look up to but also other athletes and sports that I respect, it's fun giving back to others in various ways. Last one is self explanatory but I'll go on record and say I have the best pajama pants in the SHL."

Jett Labyrinth has a, let’s just say unique fashion sense, and he brings that uniqueness to the rink every game day. Last season as a rookie in the SMJHL, Jett kept it pretty safe with his outfits, sticking mainly with the standard suit and tie look. After his first paycheck from Winnipeg however, Jett went on a shopping spree in his homeland of England, specifically London, known as one of the fashion capitals of the world. These expensive designer clothes combined with accessories and hats that Jett has found through his countless hours at thrift stores across Newfoundland has given him a style that most find “interesting”. Jett’s favourite piece of clothing to wear on game days is a magenta cowboy hat he found at one of these thrift stores. His teammates are known to make joke’s at his expense when it comes to his fashion choices, especially the magenta hat, but Jett could care less about what others think, he just does him.

You would think that the higher ups/powers-that-be in the hockey world would have learned by now not to go to Viktor for anything outside of shoving the puck into the net, but here we are. Perhaps SFP's management managed to avoid running into the giant forest that Viktor erected next to QCC's arena the last time he was asked to "help", or perhaps they simply want that ridiculousness unleashed upon San Francisco. Viktor won't think to ask as he will be much to busy agonizing over what the hell he should do with all zero of his qualifications for graphic design. Charity choice is easy: the now customary Hargreeves "lesser known/funded local animal shelter". May as well stay true to the theme and style the jersey after a calico cat. His first instinct would have been a dalmatian's pattern, but he would then have been mortified when the entire LR started mooing at him. He'll even dump the $11 million he's been promised by some nerd in Edmonton into the pot. Surely a small fraction of that can go towards hiring someone to bring his "angry fluffy kitten" logo to life.

My player choose the cause that his brother is also involved, the kids who doesn't have the money or the opportunity to go to school and have a good education. In Quebec that's something that cost almost nothing since the government is paying a part of it and in our family it's something that is really important.
The jersey will featured some drawing of some kids that the cause helped so their rewards about not giving up and size the opportunity they have will be that. Those jersey will be signed by the player who wore it and sell it to charity so they will got some benefit out of it.
I do not think a teammates will be against giving some education to kids so to cause is welcomed. It is more about the jersey that cause problem since they don't know at all what it will look like and some of them are afraid that it will not fit with the colors of their gears. But I told them that there is many exemples of (really) bad jersey design and it's only for one game so it doesn't really matter in the end what we look like in it.

Prompt 1

Let no man say M’Baku Olubori isn’t a well dressed man. While he has a big personality, Baku has never been one to overly indulge in material spending. He will splurge on nice fashion that showcases how to dress a bigger, strong body. Fans and media always crane their necks during pre-game to see what Baku is going to wear today. Silk shirts, Nigerian tribal prints, and outlandish cuts are never far with Baku is near. You cannot forget the shoes—he has a few pairs he takes very good care of, but has a few pairs (see below) that steal the show. Once a former Baltimore player made a comment about Baku’s dress before a game… he did not play another SHL season after. Baku knows who he is and relishes the chance to force people to pay attention to himself. He embraces his place as a role model for young children, and thinks it’s important to be unabashedly himself in all things. It pushes the cultural window of acceptance to have someone like him so proudly and unabashedly living in joy. Fuck the haters, this is Baku’s time.

Written Option 1: Gwendolyn loves herself some flashier clothing. She finds games such as these as the perfect time to properly flaunt some of her favourite clothing before time on the ice. Some of her favourite would have to be a black dress and the occasional sparkle to echo the night sky, with a slit to add to the more stereotypical formality. Another would have to dig at some people, dressing up in a well tailored pinstripe navy blue suit for a mobster look, or perhaps lean into her artist looks with a white dress stained to look like plenty of paint splotches across the entire piece. Every one of Gwendolyn's outfits are unique and shine out from the rest often times, unafraid to show her more unique side while plenty of others may choose to stay simple. She's still young, and is unafraid to enjoy her younger years while she can, whether it be time painting at home, dancing around larger players, or making a statement coming into games and parties.

My player lives a pretty casual life outside of hockey, living her life mostly in clothing that can be summed up in one word: comfortable. Sweaters, hoodies, sweat pants, t-shirts, flannels, jeans, ball caps, sneakers, that sort of stuff. When it comes time for game day comfort is still her priority, but she does maybe put a little more effort in to dress things up a bit in anticipation of the cameras and other media types on the way to the rink. While she can still often be found rocking a casual T or toque during interviews, she might add a little stylistic flair to the look with a nice blazer or some subtle jewelry. If the mood strikes, every once in a while she'll even bust out a dress just to surprise people who aren't used to seeing her in that kind of fit and to remind them she's not only a killer athlete but also a pretty classy lady too.

Option 2

Inge Baardsen is the kind of guy that has a lot of charities close to his heart. Wildlife or neglected pet charities are always something people can get behind, but a pet shelter in Baltimore won’t have the reach to his home country and conversely a charity in Norway isn’t about to get a custom Platoon jersey. Some of the big NGOs that operate internationally have had some questions raised in recent years around where their money goes etc. One cause that Inge does support, that really works around the world and provides vital services to people who need it, in some of the most dangerous conditions they can be in, is Médicins Sans Frontières, or Doctors Without Borders. An unbelievably worthy cause, their medics are routinely injured and even killed providing lifesaving care in conflict zones and areas of disease or famine. A custom jersey could include the Platoon logo being colorised to match the MSF logo and the logo itself on the shoulder patches. The jersey could also list the countries MSF is operating in at the time of production.

Written Option 1

Emil Karlsson is known for his love of high fashion, being a close personal friend of many notable designers including Jean Paul Gaultier and Yuima Nakazato, and this is reflected in what he wears on gameday. Emil often shows up in incredible outfits designed for him personally that speak to his personal style and can often be a little more avant garde than we are used to seeing in these situations, but they are nothing if not eye catching. Montreal is not exactly known as being the epicentre of high end fashion, but that does not mean people can't admire what it is he's wearing. His teammates are a little more skeptical however, with many of them not following fashion and being interested in these types of clothing, which means that Emil has been on occasion the object of derision from those in the locker room, but it's all done in good spirits and some of those he plays with have even become interested in high end fashion as a result of it.

Oftentimes, Mr. Woggins has come to several events in both the SHL and other public events in purely formal attire. While he appreciates breaking the mold and going his own way, when it comes to arriving at gameday, Mr. Woggins is purely formal. A week before gameday, Mr. Woggins will go through his wardrobe and choose a pair of slacks and formal button up shirt to start with. Matching the colours of his outfit to his team and corresponding those colours with both at home and away varients. From there he choose a matching tie, a suit coat or lounge coat, and sometimes even a waistcoast to pull it all together. Then he will choose whether or not to wear a ring and then make his way towards the game. Generally the media pays little mind to Mr. Woggins as he tends to not draw attention to himself or to his attire as it is more a personal choice for him than one for attentions sake.
