To be nominated to the MVP you got to put a lot of weight on scoring or assists. And a player who has done that is Doug Weight. Consistency with mostly passing but also scoring the player has been a stable producer of points for the team.
A second reason to be nominated is beeing good on the defensive side but also helping with the offense. And that is something May O'Nayse has been doing. The player has been on the ice when ever the team has scored and been on the bench when the team has been letting the other team score. And it takes some skill to keep that up for a whole season.
The third and last reason for a player to be nominated to Win the MVP is fightning spirit. To step up and defend the teammates and someone who has done that more succesfull than anybode else in the leauge is Kiwi Soderberg-Snooks,

Since the season is about over, I suppose its time to talk about the MVPs for the league.

3rd place is Baron Samedi of Colorado. They are leading their team with 93 points as of todays date. By far the best solo effort of the whole league with the next closest Colorado team mate being roughly ranked over 20th.

2nd place is Wingman Roc with their team leading 96 points. While Nevada is having a great season, its apparent that Wingman is one of the main reasons why. Splitting their time between a few different clubs has helped them rise right to the top.

1st place is Doug Weight with 105 points. Playing for Maine has it's perks, but leading the league by 9 points puts you into a separate realm of superstardom. Doug is without a doubt the leagues best player this season and the highest scoring player on the highest scoring team.

Now that the season is over, there is a clearer picture of who some of the favorites for MVP are. These are potentially some of them, listed in no particular order.

Doug Weight: I know that people sometimes don't prefer MVPs coming from the best team in the league, and MET had no competition for best team in the league. But one of the easiest ways to be the MVP favorite is through pure offensive stats. Weight lead the league in assists, was 4th in goals, and has almost a 10 point lead in the league. He was simply the most productive player in the league.

Baron Samedi: It looks like a lot of people have touched on this pick, but Samedi was one goal away from leading the league in goals, and 5th in the league in points. What makes him a great choice is that he showed some great individual effort at times. The difference between Samedi's 92 points and COL's 2nd highest scorer (75), was the largest gap in the league between #1 and #2 scorers.

May O'Nayse: It's kind of lame to pick another MET forward here when they had 2 complete offensive lines with > 1 ppg, but O'Nayse almost set an SMJHL record this season. He was tied with Weight in goals, and tied for 2nd in the league in scoring, but was by far the best 5v5 forward in the league. With only 5 pp points, his 91 even strength points was 16 higher than the next best, and 2nd most in SMJHL history. His 39 es goals also lead the league.

Folks. The MVP race is HOT HOT HOT!!!! ITS SCARY HOT!!!! There are several player that are adding fire to the flames folks and let me tell ya about em! Doug Weight, yeah the real Doug Weight from the NHL, has 105 points. That's 105 points in 66 games. Almost an assist per game. What? Huh? You know who else I like? big 3 dubs rock on nevada. He popped off on both fronts, and was a scary scary sniper for the Battleborns.

We haven't even discussed Baron Samedi! It's saturday every day with him, an incredible 44 goals, second in the league and just nasty finishing ability as he was the top player on a very competitive Colorado team.

Now lets talk about the big boys. The big skunks. The goalies. I got two for you to consider in that noggin: Elvar Gil-Galad, and Jakub Alexa. Gil-Galad was massive for a weird and inconsistent Grizzlies team, while Alexa was a great backbone for a young YUM team.

MVP: For me, the place winner came down to tie between Doug Weight or Baron Samedi, with it varying each time I reevaluate my pick. For Doug, he is a top contender given he leads the league in overall number of points as well as in assists to other players. This is easily MVP worthy material here on its own, but he also brings a set of killer stats to the table and a total of TPE of 508. All in all, he’s an incredible asset to the Timber and a main cause of their success.

2. Baron Samedi may not quite be up there with Doug, but he is nonetheless an asset to his team by having the second most goals this season, as well as being placed in the upper ten for assists and and in total points. Stat wise he lags behind several other players, but he makes up for this by being a driving force on his team.

3. Last, but certainly not least is May O’Nase. While not quite on par with her fellow Timber Doug Weight, May nonetheless has been an integral part of the Timber’s success this year. Be it the 33 goals she’s scored the season, her solid performance with assists, or points, she’s been an all around solid member of the team.

NL is a very balanced team with a lot of people scoring instead of just one line so we only maxed out at 60 points for our top scorer. Because of this it's hard to praise a single NL player and instead I have to look at our biggest rival in Maine. It's hard to ignore Doug Weight's accomplishments this season, leading the league by whole nine points with 41 goals and 64 assists for a total of 105 points. A very dominant performance or much of the season which was pretty much never in doubt for him. Maine in general killed it this season with four people in the top ten, and amazing feat from them. Doug Weight has had an amazing career for Maine so far, sitting at 227 points in 198 career games. Weight should only be able to improve from the 105 points next season. Hopefully NL can show up in a big way next season with many more 425s to be in contention for some MVPs.

I'm going to be completely honest, the school year started and so I haven't a clue who is even close to being a potential MVP this season. I don't even know what Jeremy's stats are right now.

That said, doing a quick look through the index, I could see Doug Weight or 3WW Wingmate-Roc being favorites for the MVP award. Between the goals they have put up, as well as being the point leaders, it will probably be a close race between them. As I notice, Wingmate-Roc has a slightly better shot percentage, along with being one of the few leaders from the Battleborn, as opposed the sheer dominance that the Maine player has.

That said, I think I would have to edge it out to Wingmate-Roc for this reason. It's easy to be an amazing player when you have a large number of amazing players, and therefore, are you truly the most valuable amongst the team. Whereas, being the best player by a larger margin really hits home how absolutely incredible you had to be as a player, compared to the rest of the team.

I believe this year’s MVP should have many different, yet valid reasons for candidates to receive this coveted award. To me, the clear standouts are Samedi of COL, Gil-Galad of GF and Steelflex of ANC.

It is hard to argue against Samedi’s clear influence on COL’s success. Scoring 44 goals, of which 7 were game winning, completely alters the state in which COL would find themselves within the standings. Playing the hard, top line minutes vs opposing teams best players is no easy task and doing it while also driving your team towards the upper seats in the standings is a huge success from Samedi’s efforts this season.

I wanted to particularly shout out Gil-Galad as, many focus on the counting stats in hockey without looking any deeper. Gil-Galad is clearly the backbone of GF posting an insane GSAA of 22.95. That alone is proof of how many low scoring games GF potentially stole away off Gil-Galad standing literally on their head. Without this performance, who knows where GF finds themselves come playoff time.

The last player I wanted to notate was Steelflex of ANC. Leading a 2nd place finishing team in points despite you’re entire team also producing on an elite level just shows that they still remain one step ahead in driving ANC towards success.

For me the main leader for MVP would have to be Doug Weight, a forward from the Maine Timber. He managed to lead the league by a pretty sizable margin in points with 105 compared to the nearest person which was 96 and led in assists as well and was 4th in goals which suggests he was pretty balanced in his point production. It obviously helps Maine finished with the best record in the league by a wide margin. There are other contenders for the crown like his teammates May O'Nayse and Anna Skovgaard as well as 3WW Wingmate-Roc but I feel this is Weight's race to lose. For the goalies there are some decent competition in lee Harrison and Elvar Gil-Galad but unfortunately for them they were not on the best team in the league so that might hurt them a bit. That being said, anything can still happen when it comes to awards voting.

I think the toughest part of any MVP discussion is "how do you pick a player from Maine or Nevada?". Ultimately, while I think there's quite a few players with a shot, that just works against them as it will likely be some split votes regarding who's best on their respective teams.

3rd place is probably 3WW Wingmate-Roc, from the Nevada Battleborn. 43 goals is 3rd most, and 96 points is tied for 2nd. Definitely I think the best of the Battleborn, though Lucas Raymond has a pretty good argument as well with over 2 minutes less of ice time per game. Still the numbers get the edge here.

This may be surprising, but I have Baron Samedi from the Colorado Raptors 2nd in my MVP list. They have a strong case for 1st, with 18 points more than the 2nd best Raptor. They clearly led the way for Colorado who ended up finishing 3rd in the league.

But I think potentially the surprise MVP #1 candidate for me is May O'Nase from the Maine Timber. 96 points is tied for 2nd in the league, 9 behind leader and teammate Doug Weight. However, O'Nayse did it with only 17:59 of ice time per game, and only 31 SECONDS of powerplay time on average. For comparison, the next lowest powerplay time in the top 10 scorers is 2:31. It even includes Hockey Player who had 3 minutes of PP time per game. The next highest scorer with less PP time than O'Nayse was Hughes Incorporated with 53 points.

May O'Nayse had 91 even strength points this season, the 2nd most was 73 followed by 67. May had 25 more even strength points than teammate and points leader Doug Weight. They also led in even strength goals. The even strength value was unmatched this season, and it wasn't even close.
