S78 PT #4: Sponsored Up and Geared Up Due: Sunday, September 8th @ 11:59 PM PST

Lasse Zeigler does not do promotions. He has gotten multiple offers from many different brands… big sports companies like Nike, Gatorade, Bauer, anything, as well as non sports brand companies like restaurants like subway, tim hortons, etc. but he has always turned them down no matter the pay. Lasse has no struggles with money, he is well off as he is without any partnerships or sponsorships, and he doesn’t like going out there and advertising himself like a piece of clothing or something. He wants to make his name known through his profession, hockey, and nothing else. While he spends a day shooting for a promotion, he could be at the rink improving his game, making himself better to help his team win every single night. To him it seems like just a waste of time where he could be doing more things to improve himself. And he is not the gloating type, where going on an ad to show off his fame is something he does not find fitting his personality.

Option 1:

As far as sponsorships go, Matiss doesn’t normally seek out sponsorships, but if a sponsorship was being offered to him, he would definitely think about it. As far as sponsorships go, he wouldn’t take any kind of sponsorship for any kind of products that he does not use or does not like already. He is not the kind of player to promote things that he does not enjoy or use on a day-to-day basis. As long as he used it at some point in his life and liked using it, he would be willing to take any kind of sponsorship. In regards to sponsorships the sponsorships can come from any company and does not have to include just hockey brands. He would be willing to sponsor any clothing companies, food companies, drink companies, or sporting good companies. Being the kind of person that promotes things that he actually uses, it is nice to be able to support brands or companies that have helped him out and that he has enjoyed throughout his years.

The world of advertising and being a brand ambassador is a fully foreign concept to our favorite time traveling highlander. Media and consumer goods were kind of limited in that day, and the idea of endorsing a product, or buying a product based on endorsement is a wild and bizarre concept for Jamie. He has steadfastly refused to get involved during his time in Carolina, not signing an agent and avoiding contact with businesses looking to reach out to him. This has changed recently as he's made it to Montreal for a stint, as he's realizing the reach and promotion from these advertisements are potentially a key way of gathering resources and finding out what has happened to his wife. Reluctantly, Jamie has begun to work with some companies recommended to him by management, and it has been a hard adjustment having to see one's own face peering back at them through the canvas of a billboard.

Written Option 1:

Argenti would love any sponsorship he could get his hands on but specifically he would get quite a few sponsors through his family’s connections. Lots of Gorilla Glue sponsorships to the point where he uses it when ever they would need it. He also gets sponsors from his uncle who owns the dole fruit compony. He also gets plenty of kaiju related sponsors from his grandfather who’s a very famous kaiju actor and his grandpas best friend is the leader in the industry. He also has his uncles friend who owns one of the best gaming companies and go cart companies in the world. So needless to say he has some amazing sponsorship opportunities that he’s very grateful to have. He loves combining the hockey game he loves so much with these other projects his family has built from the ground up. Hell he one time worked as a temporary plumber as a sponsorship for said Italian friend of his uncle.

Volta isn’t seeking for sponsorship possibilities. In fact, the sponsors seek to get a deal with Volta! That’s right! It’s really strange to see that, but Volta is very unique and can cover up some good reputation for a company. The most sponsors that he really made a deal is some hockey brands, SEGA and Sports Fundraiser for helping kids in needs that can get their sport’s bills covered. Volta isn’t the guy who wants to flash out with some big trendy brands who does some expensive clothes, cars, sports gears, etc. No! What does Volta want is some good companies that can help people to continue playing the sport that they loved doing. Why SEGA is involved? Well, SEGA is the video game company that created Sonic The Hedgehog’s franchise, and my character is made by one of the Sonic The Hedgehog’s characters (which is the best of all: Shadow).

Writing Prompt #1:
James thought the idea of sponsorship deals a bit of a faux pas for a while, thanks to his experiences with Ogun making the idea of earning extra money on the side from your hockey unappealing. Despite that, Howlett's hobbies and personal life leaving him out of the spotlight a lot gives him an undeniable charm when it comes to advertising certain products. Grills, dog food, a beer or two, anything you could imagine someone in a flannel jacket and deep voice selling. He's still pretty picky about what he will and won't accept sponsorships for though, and those aren't his only customer base. He'll never admit it, but his favorite sponsorship he's gotten was Rose's idea: it was for a makeup company, with the idea that it was so good it could cover up his black eyes and bruises from fights on the ice. Now there's an idea he liked.

While Sonja does not actively look for sponsors, she is not dumb to refuse a good offer when she sees one. Of course that being said, she prefers to only accept sponsors who can either push her career forward or are already well known in the sports industry. After all the Norwegian is quite the old-school when it comes to how she spends her everyday life both outside and inside the ring. So for her to accept a zany company that is not even related to at least sports in general let alone hockey is like going against the very core of her personality. Of course that mentality has it's downsides as it limits her possibilities at a new sponsorship deal but at the end of the day, she just prefers to deal with sponsors who are able to help her advance her career. Sure on the short term it might hurt her but on the long term it will benifit her immensely.

Written Prompt 1:

It's undeniable that the world of modern sports is profoundly linked with public image and business. Consumers love a familiar face they can relate or aspire for, it's literally everywhere. Andrea is well-aware of this matter, and he's absolutely the type of people that would love to be endorsing different brands or products. You may think it's a matter of ego, but is instead because he too considers this a valuable opportunity to get a bit more personal with the different consumers and fans, letting them be aware that even an aspiring star can be as eager to lean into a certain type of product. For this matter, Andrea has barely any limitations regarding the type of publicity he's to partake in, whether it may be a snack, a clothing brand or store, or else. There's, however, one big limitation, and while he's at least a bit cautious with his public image, Andrea feels he'd only endorse products or companies that he, as the mundane person beyond the world of hockey, would buy or consume. His tastes may be all over the place, but at least no one will be able to point fingers and claim he's one who lacks integrity.

Leo doesn’t go out looking for sponsorships, but he’s happy to do them when they come up. He’ll only do sponsorships for companies/gear that he believes are actually good and helpful. He doesn’t like the whole sell out for anyone who asks kind of deal. His main goal for sponsorship has been to secure one with Mtn Dew, Baja Blast specifically. It’s a well known fact that Leo doesn’t drink water during games and only ever has his water bottle full of mtn dew baja blast, so getting a full on sponsorship with them would be his life goal. If he never won a challenge cup or gold medal but had a sponsorship with Mtn Dew, he could retire happily. It is important to point out that Leo would probably be a terrible brand ambassador though. He’s a pretty quiet guy who’s only real standout quality is his size. He’s just not interesting enough.

Rasmus likes his sponsorship deals because even though he's being paid in the top tier of players, he's not necessarily able to support the full training and coaching he needs in the offseason in order to try and beat the aging curve. So it's always good to get another couple million from doing some TV spots, or shaking some hands, or smiling on the back of a cereal box if that's what it takes instead. The world of athlete endorsements isn't always a beautiful one - sometimes you're out there endorsing a foot cream for athletes and being known as the face of that brand. Sometimes you're the face of Rub A535 because of that absolute beating you're taken on the ice. But it's also nice when you get the endorsement deals with the local car dealership, they hook you up with a sweet ride, you take a picture with them, sign a couple babies and before you knwo it you're cruisinga round in a nice Honda Civic from 2004.

Even though goalie gear is strictly regulated which somewhat limits the ability for individualism, Ana Söderström can still work with the equipment managers to help her feel as comfortable in her gear as she can be. The biggest piece of gear where individuality can shine through is in a goalie’s stick. Ana’s not one to take many forays out of the crease, so she doesn’t need the huge curve that a playmaking goalie might find useful for really getting a hold of the puck, so she likes a fairly straight stick for staying flush on the ice and distributing short passes to teammates. Someone with a tendency to go for poke checks would probably have a huge knob of tape on the handle of the stick, but since Ana doesn’t do too many of those she can use a more tapered handle for agility. Other than that, her only request from the equipment team would be to put some rainbow tape on the blade.

Mary does not have the requisite work ethic required to actively market herself to any potential sponsors. Her own agent barely can get in touch with her. However, one thing that does work for Mary is that she has an incredibly absurd personality. Whether it be her habit of vaping fat clouds on the bench during a game (which makes her no friends among those who paid good money to sit in some of the premier seats in the arena only to have their view obstructed by a cloud of vape) or the constantly swirling rumors of popcorn-related pranks that she plays on her teammates, it's hard not to notice Mary Hollywood. That popcorn stunt has led to some financial fruit for Mary, though. Some of the premier popcorn brands in the world have begun a quest to secure the signature of Mary Hollywood, the hottest free agent in popcorn advertising.

Written option 1:

Jack Booth doesn’t really go out of his way to look for sponsorship's. That’s something his agent handles most of the time. It’s nice because it lets him stay focused on hockey without worrying too much about the business side of things. But when it comes to choosing brands, he definitely has a say. Growing up, Booth always had CCM sticks in his hands, so when the chance came to partner with them, it just made sense.  He’s tried other brands like Warrior, but CCM has always worked better for him, so he was excited to get that opportunity. He doesn’t like to jump into sponsorship's just for the sake of it, though. He wants to work with companies he believes in and that align with what he already uses on the ice. His agent is great at finding the right deals, so he trusts them to bring options that fit his style.

Red Kirkby is a guy that loves his peace and quiet. His major interest in life outside of hockey of course is skiing because it allows him to be out and about while also being completely anonymous. He was born into a hockey family and all the wealth that comes with it as well as having a long and lucrative career himself so he really is not in need of any extra financial rewards for doing extra corricular work outside of playing the game. He will on occasion do unpaid work for homeless, childrens or animal charities but that is not for fame but rather to help the most needy or in the case of animals something that is close to his heart. Sometimes his younger team mates say that he needs to get the drip because he has no rizz but these are just non sensical words to Red and he is quite happy with his life as it is.
