Top Fighters in the SMJHL - Season 78

In the SMJHL it is usually the flashy players who get a lot of the attention. All the buzz is about the highlight-reel goals, the skillful dangles, even the Hollywood-style saves. But one area of the game that gets little love are the goons, the brawlers, the ones willing to drop the gloves and take on their opponent in a thrilling one-on-one fight. Despite the general consensus that fighting is bad and should be removed from the sport entirely, luckily for us there are still some players who never gave up that side of the game!

Let's see who the top Fighters in the league were this season!

-----------------------

Kiwi Soderberg-Snooks - Nevada - 7 FIGHTS
@Aleris
Record 4-3
Stats : Fighting 12 Aggression 11

The champion fighter of the league, Kiwi went tarps off more than anybody else this season. The rookie came into the league looking to establish himself as The Guy and had a respectable showing in his bouts. Anybody looking to get a couple rounds in, need look no further than asking him 'Wanna go?' as he will most definitely take you up on it!

-----------------------

Micool is Gonnawinthecup - Anchorage - 5 FIGHTS
@McGriddy10
Record 1-4
Stats : Fighting 5 Aggression 11

Give Micool credit for showing up, as a rookie he never turned down an opportunity to drop the mitts, even if he didn't fare very well. The future is bright though, with some offseason training dedicated to learning how to throw a punch, he could really pump those numbers up.

-----------------------

AT-AT Wøllker - Great Falls - 4 FIGHTS
@Muerto
Record 3-1
Stats : Fighting 10 Aggression 9

Obviously built to bring the pain to his challengers, he is at his best when the temperature heats up. His only blemish was when some rebel scum did the old "skate laces wrapped around his legs to make him trip and fall" ruse.

-----------------------

Max Hammer - San Diego - 3 FIGHTS
@ConnorJohnson
Record 3-0
Stats : Fighting 10 Aggresion 10

It's really too bad this player went inactive but his fighting skills kept him in the lineup for 4 seasons despite having only 157 TPE. He invested those TPE wisely tho, and he stands out with a perfect record in his 3 fights!

-----------------------

Hvaik - Colorado - 2 FIGHTS
@Slime
Record 1-1
Stats : Fighting 11 Aggression 9

The only Raptor to win a fight, Hvaik showed that despite being a very skilled player, collecting 52 points as a defender, he was willing to tussle when the going got rough. Fighting may not be the go-to tool in his kit, but he is not afraid to
go there when needed to.

Blade Hunter - Kelowna - 2 FIGHTS
@Tate
Record 1-1
Stats : Fighting 5 Aggression 6

One of the few Kelowna players who are willing to admit that Knights are supposed to be Fighters at their core!
His record was even but he's got the guts for sure!

Marko Kivimaki - San Diego - 2 FIGHTS
@Lem
Record 1-1
Stats : Fighting 7 Aggression 10

San Diego didn't score a lot of goals, but Marko was one of 4 players from the team to win at least 1 Fight.
Not winning a lot can make you angry and this is one place to show up on the scoresheet!

Roman Jalopski - Vancouver - 2 FIGHTS
@ThatDamnWalrus
Record 1-1
Stats : Fighting 6 Aggression 11

It is a bit surprising to see a Whaler won a fight since they are so SOFT. All that time training by fighting irl in the
Fuddrucker's parking lot must have paid off. Get your weight up! (iykyk)

------------------------

Theo Kane - Detroit - 2 FIGHTS
@NONAME
Record 0-2
Stats : Fighting 5 Aggression 5

Jacppo Nummilavin - Maine - 2 FIGHTS
@SouthPaw
Record 0-2
Stats : Fighting 5 Aggression 5

Oleksander D. Unikov - Thunder Bay - 2 FIGHTS
@I8urcracker
Record 0-2
Stats : Fighting 11 Aggression 11

Hummus God - Yukon - 2 FIGHTS
@Hummus God
Record 0-2
Stats : Fighting 7 Aggression 9

Sometimes even when you're not necessarily trying to be a fighter, you still get into fights. These guys couldn't avoid
the fisticuffs despite their intentions, and their records reflect that! Still give them credit for being willing
if not entirely able! A bit surprised that Unikov did not win either of his fights but it probably means he was taking on
a couple heavyweights rather than picking on people smaller than him!

-----------------------

The following players were not necessarily out trying to start fights, but in their one opportunity to dance they were able to secure a victory! Hopefully getting that taste will inspire them to drop 'em a few more times next season and really see if they can step into the upper echelons of the Ice Warriors!

Vladimir Bar-down III - Carolina - 1 FIGHT

@Cootdaddy

-----------------------

The following players all get honorable mentions for getting into a fight this season, even though they lost. I notice it's quite common that these players mostly had very little TPE put into Fighting or Aggression. Clearly it's possible that in Simulation Hockey, tempers can flare and things get out of hand and you can get into a fight even if you don't want to. The obvious solution is to JACK UP THAT FIGHTING, most players who won fights had followed that advice. Do you really want your career highlight package to show that you got ragdolled in your one chance to go mano e mano? Put more TPE into Fighting, people!

Abbe Wass - Anchorage - 1 FIGHT
@NordicNailer

----------------------

So there you have it, in total there were 32 fights this season. Fighting might becoming a dying art form but thankfully it
hasn't gone away entirely, as this is what the fans really want to go see.

Special boo to Newfoundland for being the only team which nobody got a fight. Not really much berserking going on there!

I don't care I'm not counting the Fight where Lammers beat up AT-AT in the playoffs
