Quick Trade Breakdown:
Tampa Bay Barracuda acquire:
  • Zedward Zilliams (D) | Extended for 6,000,000 per season through S81 (Hamilton 50% retention)
Hamilton Steelhawks acquire:
  • S80 TBB 1st
  • S80 TBB 2nd
  • S82 TBB 1st
  • S83 TBB 2nd

Yesterday, the S78 SHL runner-ups Tampa Bay Barracuda have gone all in on Zedward Zilliams, the 8th season, star defenseman who finished 1st in goals among defenders finishing with 23 goals, and complimenting that scoring with 23 assists for a total of 46 points. With this the Barracuda’s have created a strong and solid defensive line, with Zilliams being only 2nd among defenseman on this team with 1740 applied TPE, trailing only behind right defenseman John Brown who has 1828 applied TPE. Zilliams should also add some solid offense to Tampa due to his great two-way playing when he is on the ice. With this trade, the Barracuda have added strong defensive depth, to compliment a really good forward line, resulting in the Barracuda becoming a bigger threat. The Barracudas could now go in any direction that they want when handling their defense. The Barracuda will also be getting Zilliams on a extension and trade for 6,000,000 per season through S81, in which the Hamilton Steelhawks will retain 50% of that freeing up some cap space on both sides. Although there is a price that comes with the 6’4 two-way defenseman. That price being a S80 TBB 1st, a S80 TBB 2nd, a S82 TBB 1st, and a S83 TBB 2nd to the Hamilton Steelhawks who will be losing one of their best players (best in terms of TPE). This is a great trade on both sides as the Barracuda get to build up their great roster even more and probably won’t have to worry about those draft picks being too high, and the rebuilding Steelhawks get to find some more draft capital that should immensely help with the process.

Interview with Zedward Zilliams about the trade below:

DD - So let's get started, first question: How are you feeling about the New Look in Tampa?
ZZ: feeling excited and ready to hit the ice with my new teammates, eager to try and win a cup

DD: How do you like your odds at the cup this year?
ZZ: well it's never easy to win a cup in the SHL, but I have to put TBB as one of the favorites, given that they just made the finals and have a strong team again. I would say SFP, LAP, and PHI are going to be some of the main contenders. I see TOR, NOLA, and NEW maybe as a slight tier below, but could also make some noise

DD: Do you think you will go to the first line immediately or do you think you will work your way up? Are you excited about your new defensive teammates?
ZZ: Just from what I've heard, I believe Zedward will be playing on the first line, but having been a GM myself before, I know that sometimes you have to try different tactics and lines to maximize the team's potential. If I have to play on a lower line and sacrifice personal stats for more wins, I'm more than happy to do what it takes.
Definitely excited for my new teammates! Zedward actually played 3 seasons with Sowerwine in the SMJHL, and 2 of those were as a first line pair. Thunderdome, Brown, and Wobet all seem great. Dubolk was one of the best Dmen in the league last year, so that could be a fun duo there as well

DD: Besides the obvious goal of winning the cup, what are some personal goals you have?
ZZ: I definitely wouldn't say no to a few accolades, even if it's just making an all star team or something similar. plus having lots of people take me in fantasy would be fun

DD: How did it feel departing from the Steelhawks, the team that drafted you?
ZZ: I definitely am sad and it was a very difficult decision, but I am excited for the new opportunity

DD: Finally is there any statement that you would like to make to the public
ZZ: Chomp chomp!

Thanks for reading, hope y’all have a great day!

We've been eating lucky charms all off-season so that's unlikely to happen

Fine article, but whenever you copy text from word (or similar sources) you should paste it without formatting as now the text color is set to black and as such is barely visible for dark mode users
