Written Option 1: It is always an honour to be the guest or team member to announce your team’s newest first pick in the draft. This season the honour just so happens to be given to your player! How do they react to the news after being called by the team’s general manager? Do they take them up on the offer? If so, how do they do with the announcement? Do they go all out and turn it into a show? Or accidentally flub it and become a meme on the internet?

Written Option 2: Leaders on a hockey team are players who are often there for their team on and off the ice, in season, in playoffs in the offseason. What does your player do during the offseason to show that they’re a leader to management? Do they assist in helping get some teammates up to speed? Do they volunteer to partake in training camp even if they need not show up yet? Or do they simply focus on themselves, aiming to lead by example?

WIlliam Salming just ended his 20 year-stint in Seattle. He is not anymore an Argonaut. He is now a Steelhawk and plays next season for Hamilton. One of the reasons William chose that club was that he was offered a mentor role. A management expects that he will be one of the leaders of the team and shows younger people how to become a succesful hockey player. And that mentor role inspires William. Mostly, he leads by example on the ice with his two-way game but he also tries to during the offseason to contact younger people in the team and give them some valuable training tips for example how to improve skating and puckhandling and puck battling. He doesn't want that youngsters do same mistakes than him. Especially Salming has said that if you want to become better skater, you need to skate during the summer too instead of spending so much time in the gym. That is one of the main messages from Salming and he also says that if you want to be an elite athlete, you need to train like an elite athlete.
Chris McZehrl III is this upcoming season the first time one of the top 3 leader of the Anchorage Armada. After the last season leaders leaving the team for their first SHL season. But Chris also did help last season the rookies and did show the management his leader role for the team. He started a cooking day together with all teammates. That was one of the off the ice moments from last offseason. On ice training he always try to help the younger players to bring in his own experience and with that to help to make the younger players better. The goalies always are happy to have Chris on the team because with his sniper skills for goalies it isnt very easy to make saves so Chris can prepare the goalies perfectly for the season and opponent sniper. During the games Chris try to help the team motivating if they need it and they arent in lead. He also cheer always for his team and his teammates. That all show us his good leadership.

Ju-gong’s leadership style is somewhat dynamic, but relies mostly on a deep sense of personal expectation along with trying to carry themselves in respectable and professional manner at all times. This includes many of the common themes that many elite athletes carry, where he is often one of the first in, and last out of training facilities in the morning. Given that he lives away from his old life in South Korea with all his family and friends, he has ample free time to afford towards dedicating to his profession. This means his current life revolves around not just improving as a player, but improving as a teammate. Ju-gong would not only help integrate the news players into the team as quickly as possible, but push them to improve as soon as they’re settled in. This intense dedication to both team and individual improvement is part of why the goaltender has been a part of the captaincy in almost every team he’s put on the colors for.
For Dieter Frühstück, setting the tone for his first SHL training camp came in the form of showing up early and often. Frühstück was initially seen as a relatively top prospect in the SHL Draft (1st round talent) before going in the mid-2nd round to the Minnesota Monarchs at 31st overall. Not only does he want to prove the Monarchs right for picking him, he wants to prove the rest of the league wrong for letting him fall as far as he did. Frühstück decided that the best way to demonstrate that was through hard work, and he consistently was the first one on the rink and the last one off it during SHL camp with Minnesota. He knows it's going to be a couple of seasons before he gets the call up, and he wants to get a cup back to Anchorage, but for camp, he wanted to make sure the Monarchs knew he was all in and ready to prove himself as the top SHL prospect he knows he is.

Blade Hunter isn't the kind of guy to sit around doing nothing in the offseason. Nah, he’s out there grinding, pushing himself hard, showing management he’s all about that leadership stuff. When other guys might be off chilling, Blade’s the type to get involved early, especially at camp. Blade will pull some of the younger guys aside, help them get their game up. He doesn’t need no big speech or nothing. He’s all about action. Seeing him work hard at practice or hitting the gym is enough to push others to follow. Management loves that because they see a guy putting in work when he don’t have to, that's leading by example right there. So, when the coaches see him showing up early to camp, grinding in the gym, dragging some teammates with him, they know he’s taking this seriously. Leadership is showing everybody how it’s done by doing it yourself.
Deth Klaw is a player who strives to lead by example and be a leader in the locker room. He does make sure to take time for self care and to enjoy life, but definitely tries to be there for his teammates, whether they are a wet behind the ears rookie, or an old grizzled veteran player. Working together as a team throughout the season, even if it isn't officially sanctioned, is important to build teamwork and camaraderie. If there is a practice, Klaw is there. Even if there isn't, Klaw can often be found watching tape, or working on his fundamentals. Klaw also makes sure his teammates take the time to take care of themselves. While many players pride themselves in being tough and playing through injury, they only get one body and so its important to handle and treat injuries as they happen, rather than trying to power through and ending up more injured. Hopefully Klaw and his teammates can be sure to have many more seasons on the ice! (174 words)
Matthias would be thrilled to announce the first picks for his teams - be it for the Saint Louis Scarecrows or the Edmonton Blizzard. Especially with all the scouting he’s involved in, it would seem imprudent for him to not make a production out of it - maybe not graphics or anything technically complicated, but rushing out in a car or plane to announce them in-person? Oh that’s absolutely something Matthias would do!
Imagine knocking on, say, @TheGreatToeJam’s door and saying “congratulations! You’ve just been drafted!” And then dragging them into the team van without another word. Instantly, the most memorable stunt of the draft that year.
Or if Fer is peacefully minding their business, and Matthias just slings em over his shoulder, much to the consternation of screaming onlookers, as he tosses them in the car saying “it’s time!” And refusing to elaborate until the car doors are closed. I think that would be great for the SHL in general, we should draft all of our people like that
