S79 mPT #1: Lets Try This Again Due: Sunday, October 20th @ 11:59 PM PST

AGAINST: Los Angeles and San Francisco will meet in first round of playoffs, after finishing regular season as 1st and 4th or 2nd and 3rd in their division.

To me, LAP and SFP are locks at 1st and 2nd in the division. Calgary is rising but I don't think they're quite ready to make the jump to edge one of them out, and even if they finish ahead of one of them, finishing ahead of both for 1st in the division is a tall order. Behind them you have Edmonton, who is still rebuilding and seems like a lock at 5th, and Seattle, who may improve this season, but nowhere near enough to beat LAP or SFP. So a 1v4 LAP-SFP series seems out of the question, while a 2v3, while possible, feels very unlikely.

Anchorage makes it to the Four Star Cup finals
I'm gonna go out and disagree with this one just because I feel like the J is a bit stronger top to bottom this year than it was last season, and they got bounced really early last year and lost their top two scorers from a year ago. I think they will still be a solid team but they're not a bona fide contender.

New Orleans makes it to the Challenge Cup finals

For:

Obviously we are going all the way this year and not only are we going to make it to the finals, we're going to win the cup. We went undefeated in the pre-season so that stands to reason that we will also go undefeated in the post season. I'm willing to bet $ 20 Mexican Pesos on it (currently, at the time of writing, about $1.03 USD)

I am for Toronto finishing regular season as best team in the East and would put money on this season being their break out moment with their young core.

For first time since S71, Hodor wont have most blocked shots: Against - I think Hodor is more than primed to continue his streak and live up to his name. It will take some time before someone else can come up to the mantle and takeover.

Against: Toronto finishes regular season as best team in the East.

Frankly speaking they do have a good squad together, i will give them that but they are still a season or 2 from being creme de la creme and above everyone else. They need time to be able to properly mature before effectively being able to win it big

For Philadelphia finishes 3rd or worse in the division.

I get that it hasn't happened since S66, but as a starting point they finished 8 points back from Tampa Bay for the division lead.  But they're taking a small step back while other teams line Baltimore and Atlanta are holding strong and I think will show some improvement.  They aren't gonna beat out Tampa this season and only need to slip behind 1 of Baltimore and Atlanta.

FOR: For first time since S71, Hodor wont have most blocked shots

I mean if Hodor is anything like the Games of Thrones character, there is nothing getting past him and there is nothing he will not protect. He will jump in front of pucks and lead the league in it.

AGAINST: For first time since S71, Hodor wont have most blocked shots

Texas has been farming this stat for Hodor since he entered the league. His build is still a shot-blocking machine, regression hasn't yet knocked him below where he was in S71 or even particularly close to that level, and Texas is still a really good team. Texas is going to keep feeding him shots to block and we're going to be hearing about how the DFD trophy should be renamed to the Hodor Trophy for a decade.

Montreal wins the cup
For because my partner @JohnFranklinKennedy is making his SHL debut this season. Someone has to win so it might as well be a team with a friend on it!

FOR: For first time since S71, Hodor wont have most blocked shots

Hodor lives for this style of play. He craves pucks hitting his body. It's what sustains him. It's the one skill that he will have until the bitter end. He'll lose the ability to pass, shoot, and even skate before he loses the will to block a shot going towards his goalie. He's going to lead the league in blocks because that's what he does.

against calgary scoring the most goals.

As much as i like a lot of people on calgary, i do not thing they yet have the firepower to have the most goals in the league. i think they are still working on it, but not right now. If you had offered me this option in 2 seasons, id have maybe agreed.

FOR: Anchorage makes it to the Four Star Cup finals

Althought I believe the playoffs are a crapshoot, I do think Anchorage will make the finals out of the Northern Conference. They finished first last season and were incredibly successful at home. Another year older for their top players, they will only get stronger. Finishing 6-0-1 in preseason only strengthens their case for me.

For: Philadelphia will finish 3rd or worse in their division.

Philadelphia sits in one of the most competitive divisions with BAP and TBB both being there. Granted BAP may be taking a step back due to regression but the synergy and chemistry is still there and TBB has some of the best players of the season on their team.

Against: Obviously Anchorage can't make it to the Four Star Cup Finals because the Great Falls Grizzlies are going to win it all and they are in the same conference.
