S79 PT #2: Person's Best Friend Due: Sunday, October 27th @ 11:59 PM PST

prompt 1:

Ok, so funny you mention geese. Because I am pretty sure there is a player on my team that if I ever decided to make a team pet a thing, it would have to be a goose. Obviously, that brings in issues, like geese being snakes with wings and therefore terrorizing the rest of the team with their chasing, screaming, stealing and general annoyance. I don't actually even know any upsides to having a goose be a pet other than that it keeps me from losing our best forward, so we will probably be forced to keep up with that promise until the contractual obligations are fullfilled. If I truly wanted to choose a pet, I would just do the safe thing and get a nice dog. Everyone likes dogs, they would be a great animal to have around, and they definitely wouldn't randomly start hissing at you for the smallest of inconveniences and yell at you for just existing like a certain other animal that I mentioned previously.

One staff member role Cheeks Klapanen always needs to have around is a massage therapist for his cheeks. No no, maybe we don't go there given recent sports history. But I'm sure that massage therapists would be a fantastic group of staff to have to help in recovery and relaxation given the arduous schedule of a hockey season. Personal trainers are also important to add some personalized structure outside of team trainers, and to help players build towards more personal goals. Equipment managers are also critical, and I've seen how great some of them can be. I loved Dana Heinze in Pittsburgh, he always seemed so sweet and prepared for all situations. I think the equipment managers also coordinate a lot for travel and away trips that don't get enough love, there's some awesome youtube video about the behind the scenes work somewhere out there. But everyone together makes the rigorous schedule of a hockey season come together without issues, they really all deserve more love and appreciation.

While there are a number of animals that would make excellent choicse for team pet, the wolfpack would have to go with the obvious choice... a cockatiel! Sure a dog would be cute, but everyone has a dog. New England would step outside the box and get a small parrot that's easy enough to care for and can be trained to stick around the players. Speaking of the players, each week 2 players will be assigned to feeding the bird daily and cleaning the cage at the end of the week. Every week the group of players rotates until everyone has cared for the bird. During games, it will be let free in the locker room to visit players as it pleases, same for intermissions. However if the team loses, the trainers will keep the bird in a seperate room as to not get it down. In the offseason the bird stays with a trainer who stays in new england for the summer.

The obvious choice for team pet on the Winnipeg Aurora is a polar bear. We would probably name him pohler or something like that. Obviously our pet isn't simply going to be a vibes pet, no he is going to be so much more. We would send him to junior first and make sure he starts developing as an elite two way centre. After multiple junior titles hopefully we would then sign him to the team and force him to live at the practice facility. Clearly since he is a polar bear we would also make him haul all the gear since he's twenty times stronger than a mere man, plus it would help build character. As for who takes care of it, well that's clearly the GMs problem, it's a large risk having a polar bear on and team and the insurance must be insane but I think it's worth it. Honestly, with some of the characters already on the team he may turn out to be the most insurable.

1: Look, if the Argos want to get a locker room pet, they know that Jefferson is the guy to ask about weird, fun options for a loyal clubhouse companion. Jefferson's personal home is stuffed to the gills with exotic animals - between reptiles, amphibians, saltwater fish all the way over to your standard issue cat and dogs. For a team like the argonauts, we'd need something personal, entertaining and smart, just like all of our players. As a seafaring team, nothing says "man on a boat" like a parrot, so I'd recommend going with a really cute green cheek conure or something -- very personable, trainable and just impossible to dislike. Jeff would teach the rest of the guys how to interact with the lil fella, how to teach him tricks and fun songs to whistle. The team wanted to hire a "professional" but Jeff demanded it be written into his contract that he gets to help take care of the bird and bring it with the team wherever they may go.

Written Option 1 Having a team pet is a great idea and I know just the pet. As we all know long ago Marks father Makrus “Adopted” (Stole) a wolf from a nature reserve. Zephyr the wolf fit right in when Makrus was on the wolfpack. While it might get a little confusing Zephyr would make a great addition to the Philly locker room. Zephyr is familiar with sports and played football for many years in the ISFL. He is also house broken and probably won’t eat any of the fans. Zephyr is self sufficient having his ISFL money to pay for his own care. He is also capable of letting himself in and out of the stadium and can live in the woods or with Mark during the offseason. He has no problem traveling to away games and even has his own passport due to playing in Canada and the USA. Zephyr the wolf would make a great addition to the growing family in the forge.

The Philadelphia Forge has a multitude of staff to assist with all of the players, coaches, and general managers' needs. There are personal trainers to help with the players' training regimens. There are dieticians to help plan nutritious meals for all of the players to keep them performing at peak physically. There are equipment managers who handles the sticks, sharpen the blades, and makes sure all of the players' equipment is in tip top shape. Then there is the top notch medical team that tends to the Forge players' medical concerns both on the ice and afterwards. They work in tandem with the dieticians and personal trainers, helping them focus on rehabbing injuries in the right way. The coaches and general managers have interns to help with some boring administrative tasks and also with fetching coffees. Beyond that, the unsung heroes that keep the Forge hot are the pro shop staff, arena ushers, Zamboni drivers, plane drivers, and social media marketing nerds. They all keep the team going. Oh and how could we forget the sponsors too! Thank you for the money, sponsors!

If the San Diego Tidal were to get a team pet, I think that it would be a mouse. After all, there would be no greater joy for Jeremy than to constantly be chasing his arch nemesis of Jerry. While I think many of his teammates would continue to care for and feed the mouse, and even pick it up, let it sit with them during practices, and everything else, I think that Jeremy would be constantly on the hunt. In fact, I believe that many of Jeremy's teammates would feel some intense joy and relief at the fact that Jeremy was focused on hunting the team pet, as opposed to actually trying to ingest any of his teammates. Even if Jeremy eventually catches the mouse, I think that management would be able to make sure that there was always another Jerry waiting in the wings, ready to be put into the cage as though nothing ever happened. Eventually Jeremy would just have an entire family of mice living in his pocket dimension.

The general managers of the Atlanta Inferno micool and hotdog purchased a beautiful new mascot and team pet for the team. They tried to make it its own cool team sweater, but unfortunately it keeps burning up whenever they put it on because they decided to buy a team phoenix. A flaming bird has been a blessing and a curse for the team, as a lot of the players are scared of interacting with it, but it has raised ticket sales and stadium tours by a massive amount. As the first mythological creature to be discovered, it has certainly drawn quite a bit of interest especially considering the cute little guy decided to work for a hockey franchise. The team has had a bit of a lift since the introduction of the new mascot as the team has won three of its last four games. Only time will tell if the new bird will further boost the team into performing better or if it will burn their stadium down.

WO1:
So new england got a wolf dog for us to play with. We named it Luke Lupin the Fluke for obvious reasons. He has a brownish fur coat with some beige markings around his face and eyes. He is approximately 3 year olds. Utterly a unit. Luke stays with us for the most part. he has his own locker and they have renovated an old storage room to be his "office." It's pretty neat to be honest. He makes his rounds during games and practice and all that. It feels mainly PR related but we do our best to make Luke matter more than that. He all give him head pats before the game and some of us even make time to play with him during his approved "office hours." His handler is this very nice young lady named Chelsea. She apparently is well versed in wolf dogs, so it was a natural choice.

A forge is a weird team, I guess maybe Philly has some metalworking in its history? I think we should adopt a Pokemon that's forge like, like one of the swords guys or just a torkoal or something that could fire up the forge.

There is an inherent problem in that we really do have a hot guy in a sport that requires the cold ice to skate on. This could potentially be a boon as we shoot the torkoal's fire onto the ice where the opposing visiting team is at to melt the ice and make them lose their footing.

I think that care would be pretty easy as everyone loves Pokemons and pets and so we'd have a ton of volunteers. We could even probably have some Pokemon nerds pay for the privilege of taking care of and playing with our mascot.

The Philly forge should name a new mascot and I hope that we don't currently have one because it's embarrassing not to know.
