At this point in the season, you should be starting to get into the groove with your teammates. But it's not all about the chemistry when you're on the ice - it's the tunes you listen to in the locker room before you get out there that really help you bond.
Written Option: List 5 songs that are on your team's pre-game playlist, and tell us why they're played (150 word min.) Graphic Option: Design the album cover for a CD-version of your team's pre-game playlist. Has to include at least the team name and logo. Teamless Option: As above but it's your workout playlist. You will receive 3 TPE for fulfilling all the requirements for any of the options. (You only need to do one of the options to get the credit and wont get additional credit even if you do more than one). All responses are due on Sunday, November 3rd at 11:59 PST. NOTE: IF YOU SUBMIT/EDIT AFTER THE DEADLINE YOU WILL RECEIVE REDUCED/NO TPE. Reminder that Discord only hosts images for very limited time so you should use something else for hosting images. Affiliate claims from either PBE or ISFL or WSLB or SSL are accepted; link directly to your post and note if your username is different there. If you have any questions/concerns, please PM me. Tasks with malicious intent will not be graded. The graders reserve the right to determine malicious intent, after discussion with me. You will not be warned. Only S79 SMJHL rookies (S80 players) are eligible for this task.

1.) Started from the Bottom by Drake
you have to get the team in the mood for the game. Always have to motivate everyone for the game and be confident in the fact we can run every team on the table. 2.) Alright by Kendrick Lamar this is to know whatever mistakes we make it'll be alright. we overcome and we dominate no matter what happens. 3.) Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill Good reason for pump music. The rise to action it gets you into the game time mood. Nothing can ever go wrong when you play good music like this. 4.) This Fire by Killswitch Engage W pump up music. This music is just great to get you ready to run through a wall. Not only that, but it keeps you into a consistent run of I'm never giving up. 5.) Enter Sandman by Metallica Do I even have to explain it? What other song is good enough to run onto the ice to? Nothing, Ever, Period. You should always be going out on the ice to Enter Sandman. t

Given the music loving nature of the Whalers locker room, there is no way that a pregame playlist would remain intact from game to game. As such, I will list 5 different vibes that would be included in the playlist on a game by game basis, because I've heard enough about everyone's music tastes at this point that I'm confident this would be the formula.
1) *Insert song about being bad* - by *Insert artist/band who made said song*
2) *Insert KPOP song title* - by *Insert KPOP group name*
3) *Insert Alt/Punk/Pysch rock song title - by * Insert Alt/Punk/Psych rock band name*
4) *Insert Rap song* - by *Insert Rap artist*
5)*Insert KPOP song title AGAIN* - by *Insert KPOP group name AGAIN*

This will certainly be "easy" (no pun intended) but coming from a music background with her k-pop history, Kim Chaewon certainly has some songs that she hopes the Carolina Kraken will play in the locker room to get themselves ready for a game.
1. Easy - Le Sserafim would be the first choice, although the song is called easy the song describes how even if things are hard we will make it look easy. The choreo for the song is not easy as Chaewon can attest to. 2. Antifragile - Le Sserafim A catchy song from Le Sserafim showing how they'll perservere against the critics and how they're antifragile and strong. 3. Perfect Night - Le Sserafim A chill and all English song from the group, can be used to put on a chill and comfy vibe for the locker room. 4. Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am) - Le Sserafim A song for the fans from Le Sserafim and showing how we should love all parts of ourselves (even our weaknesses), should be played everyday to remind ourselves for self love. 5. First Love - Kim Chaewon cover A classic song from Japan that Chaewon covered since she is a big fan of romantic shows/movies. (206 words)

1. Thunderstruck - a real hockey classic, nothing gets the team going like this all timer. Solid vibes, the bass, the guitar. Nothing better.
2. Wagon Wheel - always in the room after a W. been a long standing tradition that I’m personally bringing to the mutes! great vibes, positive emotions, everyone singing along. Really amazing tune. 3. Sweetness - another great hockey song. Appeared in one of the old NHL games we all grew up playing. Upbeat, easy to sing along too with energetic guitar. Gets people’s heart rate up and ready to play. 4. Sandstorm - a little old school techno really can set the mood. High energy, fun and a classic most of us grew up with. A strong solid beat and melody is great for setting the mood. 5. Welcome to the Jungle - is there a more iconic hockey song? Is there a song that exemplifies the raw emotion of our sport more? In my opinion, the answer is no. I still get goosebumps everytime I hear this song as we step on the ice. Iconic, recognizable, timeless.

I can wholeheartedly confirm this statement.

1. Shake it off - Taylor Swift
With the BattleBorn Taylor Swift is deep rooted in our culture with the tough season we are having sometimes you got to shake things off 2. The Man - The Killers Just because we are not having a tough season doesn't mean we don't show up for the games we need something to get us going and this is our go to track 3. Dancing Queen- ABBA When the times are tough and you don't know what to do Dancing Queen always comes through 4. Nickelback - Photograph Well the team isn't support of this but as a Canadian this a our second national anthem and must be played its written in our Charter of Rights 5. Blue Skies - Frank Sinatra As JFK is our GM this is a consistent song in our locker room and honestly a good track never hear it before

DEEP TRACKS ONLY
Addicted to the smell of natty ice - Freddy loeb - if there’s anything I’ve learned in the locker room, it’s that this team loves some Midwest emo. It just gets the emotions flowing and makes us feel alive Baby I still love you - CKDK - this song is a personal favorite of Pohler Beargeron. It’s a story of a young man who picks up a crack whore at the gas station and falls in love. No matter how many times she hurts him, he can’t stop loving her. Stfu - Pink Guy - after getting a little too into our feelings, this song is to put some ice back into our veins. It reminds the team that the other team is our enemy and they’re trash. 10 Drunk Cigarettes - Girly girl productions - this song is just your average party song written by AI. An excerpt if I may: “One new vape, two lines of coke Free drinks from the bar, four more lines of coke Five Guys fries, six hits of my blunt Seven more lines of coke, eight pairs of shoes Nine BB belts, and ten drunk cigarettes” That’s 13 lines of coke. Puss in boots - wheeler walker jr. - This song reminds us what we’re all doing this for, sweet sweet love.

Underworld - Dark and Long (Dark Train Mix) ... If you can get over the Trainspotting cold turkey/baby crawling on the ceiling backdrop, this one has lots of energy, can be played on a loop and will keep you going for a long, long while.
Hüsker Dü - Eight Miles High ... For the more anger driven workout with Bob Mould yelling in your ears for four minutes. Elder - The Falling Veil ... They'll take you on a 11 minute journey with ups and downs and turns and some top stoner rock along the way. Slowdive - Star Roving ... You know that feeling when you stumble over a new track (some years ago at least) of a band you loved back in the day, and they still have that same chemistry and energy? Yeah, this is one of those for me. Partly the song itself, partly being happy they still got it. Good times. Chug - Flower ... Anyone remember that Pete & Pete episode where they race around the house with their bikes? That's that song. Every time it comes up on random selection, I get a bit of that "school's out, not a care in the world, let's just race bikes" vibe. Honourable mentions: Sabbath/Supernaut ; Broken Social Scene/7/4 (Shoreline); Petty/Running Down a Dream; Soundgarden/Jesus Christ Pose

Song 1: "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey
Our record has been.... Suboptimal, so far this season. This song serves as an important reminder to maintain faith in ourselves even when the going gets tough. Song 2: "Nose to the Grindstone" by Tyler Childers This song serves as a reminder that we're lucky to have this opportunity to make a living playing a game we love, but that we need to tune out the distractions and keep our "nose to the grindstone" to continually better ourselves. Song 3: "I'm the Man" by 50 Cent (NOT the version with Chris Brown) Building on our reminder to believe in ourselves, we need to have some confidence instilled. This song is a reminder of where we've come from and how awesome we are now. Our struggles have made us "the man" and when we get out on the ice we're going to show that. Song 4: "Dreams and Nightmares" by Meek Mill Similarly to the previous song, this song reinforces that we've come up from the struggle and been through souch that would break others mentally, but now we've made it through that and we're the greatest thing around. We've now fully transitioned into the hype part of the playlist where we go from introspective to ready to crush our opponents. Song 5: "Crocodile Tears" by J. Cole We know who we are. We know what we're capable of. We know who's been with us on the come up. Let's go out there and show everyone exactly what we're about. This song and its ominous aggressive beat puts us in the perfect headspace to compete and channel our emotions into our play. |
