I've already done all my chirps for the week but I don't care, this is important, maybe someone will see it.
When marginalized people are distressed, freaking out, angry, about the kind of stuff that's happened this week, it may seem kind, or helpful, to say "it will be alright, everything is fine, don't freak out, it won't be that bad." I know that most of the people who say these things mean well, and they are trying to help. But it is important to understand that when it comes from people who cannot possibly understand the individual terror that comes with this stuff, it doesn't come across as helpful, it comes across as dismissive. It feels like you're being told "this isn't that big of a deal, and you're silly to be this upset about it" - even if that is not your intent. And it
is a big deal, to many, many people, it is a very big deal, and we don't need to be told it's not, what we need is to be reassured that we have people who see that things are going to be bad, and who are ready to have our back and be allies when things get bad.
