Boots has been around the league long enough now to be plenty relaxed with the media. Sometimes he's surprised they still pass him the headset at the end of games. On this occasion though, the desk is asking Boots about his team and playoffs. Boots gets a bit serious for this one as he has his two minutes to talk.

"We've come very close in Texas to winning it all. We've been out in the first round, we've had tough 2nd round battles, we've had very tough conference final matchups and of course the big finals loss no one has forgotten. We are putting everything out there this season just like we have every other season. I'm slower on my feet now and McCarthy has really been the blue line guy we rely on for points and offense. I'm just doing my best to keep the bad guys out of our zone now whether it's big hits or blocking shots. Just like any other season though it's all about teamwork. We've got a great group here and we want to get our hands on the cup so we'll be doing everything we can and fighting for our opportunity to win."

M'Baku Olubori is honored by the opportunity. In recent seasons, rather than lean into the spotlight as the team’s captain, it’s fallen to other players to step up instead of the reclusive Irish winger. Baku minds not at all, happy to help out and a natural in front of a mic. Despite the broadcaster’s best attempts, Baku evades their questions trying to put the focus on his impressive season results (though, he does allow himself a sly smile when the announcers pointed out Olubori was 2nd in the SHL with 39 event strength goals, despite playing on the team’s 3rd line for much of the year).

Instead, Baku shifts focus to his teammates’ impressive S79 season. He’d give new starter Beau Kavanagh his flowers, heap praise onto new addition Peter Tingle, and highlight progress his young linemates (Inge Baardsen and Brandon Gilleyes) made as the season went on. When conversation turns to the first round matchup with Tampa Bay, Olubori would cite the Platoon’s 4-1-1 record in the regular season and ability to keep pace with the defending Eastern Conference champs. He’d parrot the coaches’ mantra about forechecking hard, limiting chances close to the net, and forcing mismatches.

As we all know now, that was for little as the Platoon fell in 6 games to the Barracuda. Division of Hell, indeed.

Option 1:

The team got a call from a local broadcasting station wanting a player to talk about the current playoff run. I just so happened to be at the arena when the call came in and the GM asked me to take this up. They set me up in the coaches room and I waited for the call. I didn't get much pointers on what to say or what not to say so I was free to speak what I wanted. I was aware that you don't want to say anything too off-beat so you don't become a rallying cry for the opponent.

The call came in and we had our chat. We had just beaten Seattle and were facing Minnesota in the second round. I talked about our play in the first round and how our offence really stepped up. Defensively we aren't where we want to be, but that's something we're working on during practice. Regarding Minnesota, they are a good defensive team and don't give up too much quality chances so we need to be sharp and hold down the fort. Goals may be hard to come by this series and we can't play like we did in the first round and expect to out score our problems. Having said that, we believe in ourselves and know we're a great team and should handle our business and move on.

After the conversation was over, I felt that it went well and heard back from the GM and coach and they were happy with it as well. Just another responsibility us professional athletes need to do.

Yeah me and jakub (ALEXA!) were invited to be the play by play and commentator for baseball. You know we’re hockey bros so baseball isn’t exactly in our wheelhouse. We had just played in Carolina so we prepared by going to a Savannah bananas game and boy was that fun. We were in the stands studying how they played and were surprised that they danced so much. We watched the game play and decided we were equal to the task. We headed to Atlanta to Truist Park for a Braves vs Brewers game. Surprisingly neither team showed up drunk. Then it was more surprising that not one of the players danced like the game we saw. We began calling the game and quickly learned that the periods are called innings and goals are runs. We are still trying to figure out what you have to do to make an out but you only get three of them per quarter? Either way we stuck together and made it fun. At one point the radio announcers set up a time delay for us and we watched their radio transcript closed caption style and just said what they said. There was an overtime goal scored by the Brewers and surprisingly the braves got a chance to make a point. They didn’t and the guy that shoots the ball to the squatting goalie was really excited. I would do that again in a heartbeat.

Robo Sven had a standout rookie season with the Hamilton Steelhawks, quickly making a name for himself as a dynamic and versatile player. Known for his incredible speed and precision on the ice, Sven finished the season with impressive numbers, contributing both goals and assists in key moments. His ability to stay calm under pressure was evident, especially after taking this interview on short notice despite not really being a public figure for the most part. Offensively, he formed strong chemistry with his new teammates which he hopes to build on in the coming seasons while also demonstrating solid defensive skills when needed. Despite the challenges of transitioning to the SHL, Robo Sven's adaptability and work ethic stood out, helped in no small part by his mechanical upgrades. As his rookie year came to a close, it was clear that Sven’s blend of talent, determination, and intelligence would continue to drive his success in future seasons, making him a player to watch for years to come.

Emil Karlsson has never been known to turn down an opportunity to make some money and so would absolutely be willing to become a play-by-play commentator for a sport he knows nothing about. Rather than desperately trying to cram in enough knowledge over a 12 hour span to get by, Emil will simply rely on his natural charm, humour and charisma to carry him through to the point where the fans listening to the broadcast care less about what he's saying but more about how he is delivering it. This is a tried and tested method that has allowed people to get by in life and he would be far from the first commentator to not really know what it is they're talking about. It's hard to speculate quite how well it would go down but I imagine that there would be no complaints and if anything, the big bag of money he was given to carry out the job would be seen as a bargain and he might even be invited back for another go in the future!

As Beck is invited to comment on the Aurora's unfortunately short playoff run, he is sure to mention how impressive this squad has been in even making the playoffs. Winnipeg is in the deep throes of a rebuild, and even that results in playoff berths. No one ever really expected them to succeed against San Francisco and their league topping talent. While Winnipeg did have a shining past with him well in the mix on those deep run teams, he has high hope for the bright future of the team that is not so far away. Many new young guns will be joining next year, and he thinks that a first round sweep exit could turn into either a close series or a first round win. After that, it only goes up from there as he watches all the young guns rise while occupying his place on the third depth D pair. Can these young guns help Beck secure another Cup in the twilight of his career???

well ill pretend that this was before NBB was knocked out of the playoffs. And was super excited when NBB went up 2-0 over MET. for a very brief moment, NBB was gonna win it all. the city was elated. Kiwi was being heralded and retweeting the narrative that she was the best offensive defensewomen in the league. that nothing could touch NBB and they definitely did NOT "out goalie" MET. There was no chance they would lose this series and it was going to be one of the biggest upsets in SMJHL history.

Also that isn't what happened. MET outscored NBB 31-4 in the next four games and Kiwi has been on a social media ranting that there needs to be parity in the league and that its the same 3 teams year in and year out who are good and its boring. How can the J hope to attract fans when its 3 super teams and then 13 other teams.
