Good evening, and welcome to the Season 77 SHL Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I want to remind everyone of the voting rules!
Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th).
Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to support their choices.
These points are then totaled, and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Before we celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season.
Twenty-seven players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 77 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame.

Our first nominee tonight had an incredibly long career, and played almost all of it for a single franchise. Over 29 seasons, he amassed 4 Dar wins, 1300 points, 2 Challenge Cups, and some truly incredible stats. They tell the tale of a true two-way forward, almost 1300 points, and almost 4000 hits show his skill on both ends of the ice, and the Awards committee recognized this multiple times. Please join me in congratulating our first inductee of the Class of Season 77 . . .

Committee Quotes:
“29 seasons played, 1300 points, 4 Dar trophies, and 2 Cups. I'm surprised he's only a 2-time All-Star, but it doesn't matter anyway. Kvalheim was "the" power forward for many years, collecting over 3800 hits, and an easy decision for first ballot hall of fame.”

“Had 2 All-SHL nominations, but he won the Dar 4 times (every time he was nominated), having the most awards won out of any forward eligible, 2 cups, and just shy of 1300 points in a very long twenty-nine-season career. He was the prime example of a power forward for many seasons.”

“I would say it's kind of wild that he only had two All-SHL nods, but his 4 award wins are for the Jeff Dar, so that kind of explains it all on its own. Despite two-way forwards being woefully underappreciated, Andreas spent a whopping 29 seasons in the SHL, where he put his skillset to VERY good use on special teams units. Opposing centers likely sighed hopelessly when they had to square up against him in the faceoff circle, as he maintained a FO% right up there with top current Hall of Famers who all played significantly fewer seasons.”

Our second inductee this evening, a defenseman who was a stalwart presence for an expansion team relatively early in their franchise history, racked up All-SHL nominations like it was his side gig. With 5 total All-SHL appearances to go with his defenseman award nominations, his relatively shorter career still made an enormous impact. Please join me in congratulating our second inductee . . .

Inferno : S62 - S75

Career Regular Season Stats:
GP: 924 | G: 204 | A: 434 | P: 638 | +/-: 364 | Hits: 1203 | SB: 1702

Career Playoff Stats:
GP: 160 | G: 22 | A: 55 | P: 77 | +/-: 10 | Hits: 207 | SB: 289

Awards:
4x 3rd Team All-SHL
1x 1st Team All-SHL
1x Bojo Biscuit Nominee
2x Scott Stevens Nominee
1x Challenge Cup Champion (S66)

[Image: 6057.png][Image: 7928.png]

Committee Quotes:
“Angus McFife was able to accomplish a lot in what seemed to be such a little time. He played 14 seasons and amassed 638 points while also getting a Cup and 2 Stevens nominations, as well as going along with being a 5-time All-Star. He scored at a high clip and is someone who fits, in my mind, in the Hall of Fame.”

“FIVE All-SHL appearances, and in only 14 seasons. That's already insane on its own, but he also managed a Bojo nom and two Scott Stevens noms. Angus was a mainstay on both the powerplay and penalty kill, and his TA/GA is an absolutely obscene 3.10, which puts him literally at the very top among the D (whose TA/GA was tracked) already in the Hall.”

“Had 5 All-SHL nominations, the most out of any eligible skater, 2 time Stevens nominee, 1 Cup, and 638 points. He only played 14 seasons, but in that shorter time, he scored at a much higher rate than other eligible defensemen.”

Our third and final player inductee this evening is another who excelled in two-way play. Many of our committee members remarked on how well he compared stats-wise to Kvalheim with a shorter career. Where he stands out more than Kvalheim however, is his collection of All-SHL appearances and scoring in a much shorter career. Please join me in congratulating our third inductee  . . .

“4x All-SHL, Dar and Jesster winner with a nearly point-per-game career. Pure consistency”

“Kondos was a 4-time All-SHL with 2 cups and over 1000 points. He also had a Dar win and a nomination. He was basically what Kvalheim was, but one step down.”

Our final inductee this evening is also our first GM inductee since Season 70! While we only take team record, awards, and accolades from time spent as the head GM into account for the Hall of Fame, this user was a major presence for many seasons before taking over, and continued that success once heading their organization. Please join me in congratulating our GM inductee of the evening . . .

@Tomen

Stampede : S64 - S76

W: 550 | L: 263 | OTL: 45

Awards:
1x Lance Uppercut Nominee
1x Lance Uppercut Winner
4x Joe McKeil Winner
1x Mathias Chouinard Winner
1x Challenge Cup Champion (S71)

Committee Quotes:
“Tomen has an impressive 64% win percentage over 13 seasons (550 wins), a lofty 4 McKiel wins, and 1 Uppercut with an additional nomination and one cup win. With Tomen at the helm, Buffalo was pretty much always seen as a cup contender, and he also has multiple accomplishment categories (awards, wins, w%) above the HoF GM average”

“His 64.1% winning percentage puts him right up at the literal top, just behind one Hall GM, and he does so with many more seasons under his belt. Combine that with his whopping 4 McKeil wins and a win and nomination for the Uppercut, and he's an easy yes.”

“Tomen helped establish a legacy of success in Buffalo that predates most current membership as a co-GM, then upon taking the reins as GM, he continued the franchise's excellence. An Uppercut and 4 McKeil wins demonstrate a mastery over the technical side of managing and coaching that helped Buffalo punch above their weight even when, on paper, they should have been less competitive than they were. This culminated in a massive winning percentage and another cup for the Stampede during his tenure.”

WOW!!!!! It is an Honor to be inducted amongst legends such as Kvalheim, Kondos and Tomen. Honored to have been a proud representative of Atlanta with Angus McFife and I couldn't have been inducted without the wonderful players I shared the ice with, but also notably @hotdog and @goldenglutes who built such a fun and interactive locker room from day 1 of the franchise.

Now it's time to hunt that card :D
