CW Prompt: 8. This match up between the San Francisco pride and the Philadelphia Forge was surprisingly one many of us would have for seen happening prior to the season start but is a matchup we have never seen before. Having been following both teams and their players for a few years now, and seeing their cumulative success, this is one of the best matchups one could’ve dreamt of. This season I will give the edge to the Philadelphia forge as they made a considerable sacrifice over the course of their career as a team to not acquire new players, but instead only use the players that they drafted to be part of their lineup. I think having a team full of draftees makes for a very exciting storyline, but also develops chemistry within the team that is unmatchable with any roster players you can’t force chemistry and that is what the Philadelphia Forge know. I give the match up to the Philadelphia Forge this season, even though both teams have paid adversity. Chemistry can’t be beaten. Prompt 9: The best way to achieve success in the SHL is to simply emulate others. The Tomen and Wannabefinn led teams have been perennial winners and contenders, we see that with Philadelphia creating an incredible LR environment the way Edmonton and Winnipeg have had in the past. Having good leaders and a good lr is the a sure fire way to asset manage. That will lead to success, not drafts but culture

Can Philadelphia solve them or is it Time for another Challenge Cup in San Francisco? Justin Time is a man on a mission and i think no matter what Philly does, The cup comes back the San Francisco. San Fran is just on another level in too many categories, although Philadelphia has a ton of fire power and a great team the Pride are just more superior in more ways than one. when 14-0 happened i knew it was over then and there and Philadelphia was outclassed. Unfortunately i didn't have any confidence in my playoff predictions for either team. I thought it was going to be Texas Renegades year, with Tampa bay coming out of the East. Shows you anything can happen in this league! Quote:111 Words +2 TPE CW Trivia- Dash +3 TPE PBE Affiliate Claim +3 TPE Total TPE Claimed 8/8 LD #6 Dash Jackson-Edmonton Blizzard/Yukon Malamutes

Gnabe Dabson leads in both goals and points while Tony Soprano is second for both. Is that enough to give offensive advantage to Philadelphia? In the championship series even the smallest advantage can have a massive impact. On this level both teams are the best of the best, and having an impact player such as Gnabe Dabson will definitely give the Philadelphia Forge a bonus. If not directly on the scoreboard, then indirectly as a morale boost or forcing San Fransisco to spend more effort keeping him at bay. 65 words, +1 TPE Quote:9. Written, 50 to 200+ words. When it comes time to determine any team's approach to a rebuild or a retool it's impossible to say that one specific direction is better than any other for all teams. There are way too many variables that have to be considered before making such a big decision. What does their current prospect pool look like? How old are the team's current top players? What's the feel in the locker room? Do players want to stick around during the down years or do they ask to be traded to a contender? When you have the answer to those questions, then you can make your best guess for what approach to take. But we also must note that both approaches mentioned in the prompt have inherit pros and cons. If you aim for a higher but shorter peak you have a better chance at winning the cup because, if you've successfully rebuilt you should have the best team on paper for a couple seasons. But if you don't manage to win for whatever reason, the window closes quickly and players can burn out from lack of success. Going for a long-term window could, as mentioned in the prompt, put the team in sort of a limbo state. Never being able to truly contend for the cup, and also never getting any top draft picks to build for the future. However, consistently reaching the playoffs is a good way to keep current talent around. And keeping morale higher. 200+ words, +4 TPE Past Players

cadillac 11. Finals Roadtrip +4 TPE There really isn't a much better way to bond than the tried and true roadtrip. Or roadie if you're one of those cool folk that says that instead. And while the kinship amongst the Blizzard family is already strong, why waste the opportunity to grow those relationships even more. With 2386km to travel (that's 1482mi for you Muricans), that's ample time to further develop team chemistry. First off, of course, we need a mode of transport. We know it's a bus but the question is: what kind of bus? Why the prototype Tesla Robovan! Ain't nobody got time for drvin'. Robot Jesus, take the wheel! Now that we've got that sorted, what kind of pitstops and tourist attractions will the Blizzard find themselves at along the way? Make no bones about it, you can be certain a visit to the Royal Tyrrell Museum will be on the itinerary. Home to one of the world's largest fossil collections, the stop can be used doubly as entertainment and education. Perhaps a lesson about how all the pieces of something, no matter how big or small, are all important in creating something incredible. Like a dinosaur! Or a great hockey team. Groan. So let's do something fun after going to a museum like.....going to another museum! Watch Alexa Johansen and Matviy Cajabi channel their inner Lucy and Charlie Brown when they go to the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center! Come see all things Peanuts and do that funky little dance they do on the Christmas special. These are just a couple of things in store for the Blizzard as they make their way down to the Golden State. As anyone who has been on a roadtrip knows, though, just about anything can happen. And oftentimes those unplanned experiences end up being the real adventure and most memorable part of the journey. So, like a band of gypsies the Blizzard will head on down the highway. They're the best of friends, insisting that they world keep turning their way. And their way. Is on the road again. Willie Nelson - On The Road Again Code: word count: 345

Short Prompts Let’s pretend that the finals have not finished. The fact that Gnabe Dabson and Tony Soprano are one and two in scoring should be enough to give the Philadelphia Forge the advantage in the finals. They are both absolute offensive machines, and with both of them firing on all cylinders it should be relatively easy for the Forge to keep that goal light red. Of course, for the Forge to actually make this count they are going to have to call upon their depth scoring. If only the top two guys are a threat, it should be easy for the Pride to shut them down. (105 words / 2 TPE) Code: 3. Cale Salad is currently 6 points ahead of next defencemen in points for these playoffs, if they keep it up could we see defenceman winning Anton Razov? As much as I love me some Cale Salad, I do not see a defenseman winning the Anton Razov award. Points are just too alluring to the voters. A defenseman would have to be leading in defensive statistics like blocked shots and takeaways AND have a commanding lead on points. By commanding lead I mean something in the 15 to 20 point range. Realistically, we can not really go on anything except the stat sheet. In an ideal world my boy would get the Razov, but we all know it is going to go to the forward with the most points. (101 words / 2 TPE) Code: 5. San Francisco has more goals scored per games played than Philadelphia, mostly because of their depth scoring. Which players that aren’t part of first powerplay unit do you expect to have high impact in this series? I am going to have to go with the homerest of homer picks and say San-sam Emerson. While he may be on the last legs of his career, he still has a lot to give to the Forge. He is a veteran that has been to multiple finals and won a cup back in season 69. The stress of the big match up should not be too much for him to handle. Add to that the fact that he has proven himself to be one of the top offensive defensemen in SHL history, and he is sure to make and impact in the series. (104 words / 2 TPE)

woo 2. Gnabe Dabson leads in both goals and points while Tony Soprano is second for both. Is that enough to give offensive advantage to Philadelphia? (156 words, 3 TPE) The philidelphia forge undoubtedly have some top tier talent up front on their forward lines that propels them to having one of the strongest offenses in the SHL. However, unfortunately for them, I believe they have drawn a matchup against one of the few teams in the league that can surpass their attacking firepower. While the forge have great players such as Tony Soprano and Gnabe Dabson leading the charge, I believe that San Francisco’s top forward options are just as talented, and they also have superior depth scoring when compared to the forge. The pride have 3 forwards sitting over 2000 TPE, which is truly remarkable. The trio of Webb, Scholz, and Baylè, not to mention having 2 other forward just below 2000 and another just below 1900 to round out to top six, really is too much for even the best defensive teams to handle. Even the forge cannot matchup with this overwhelming firepower. 3. Cale Salad is currently 6 points ahead of next defencemen in points for these playoffs, if they keep it up could we see defenceman winning Anton Razov? (117 words, 2 TPE) I would personally love to see a defenseman get some love when it comes to the Anton Razov trophy for playoff MVP. Unfortunately, barring some really remarkable circumstances, I do not think we will ever see a defenseman win this award while we are using FHM 8 as the league’s sim engine. The sim places far too much emphasis on forwards, and specifically centers, when it comes to team offense. If a player is going to get the playoff MVP based on points, it will be a forward. The only other position that has a shot at that award is a goalie and even then they need a legendary performance across 4 rounds to get a look.

10. Written, 50 to 200+ words. But I Thought You Were Tanking I think that overall league parity has affected a lot of teams desire to actually commit to the tank. There's really not a huge difference in picks in the entire top 10 of the draft, so you can actually do decently in the season and still secure a top pick. Not going for single digit wins can really help a locker room, as there's really not a lot to look forward to when you just get killed day in and day out. Obviously this is still a league where the best teams win more often than not, but we have seen a lot of upsets in the past few seasons and overachievers, so being a mid tier team isn't the same death sentence it has been in the past. (129 words) 14. Written, 50 to 200+ words.- The Procrastinator Special! I'm not too shocked that the San Francisco Pride, after all I did pick them to win on my playoff predictions. And my playoff predictions are always right, just don't check the first round. Or some of the second round. But honestly I feel like they were far and away the favorites to win the cup even from the beginning of the season, and once Los Angeles made an early exit their odds only got better. Philadelphia is never an easy team to beat and they've definitely secured a spot for themselves among the leagues perennial top teams, but this year's Pride was just built to do exactly what they did. There's no shame in defeat there, even though I know Philadelphia isn't happy with a silver lining to end the season after clawing their way to the finals. They did have some rookies that gained valuable experience though, so I'm sure we'll see them right back next year. (159 words) 8/8 |
