Well, the team has decided to take a road trip by bus to go and watch the SHL finals but it's going to be a long trip! Hamilton to San Francisco is a long trip! We will probably miss a couple of games due to the distance and with Lahey leading this trip we will most definitely get lost and end up in Mexico somehow. But the better idea would be to drive to the games in Philly instead, that's a lot closer, but still, with Lahey driving the bus we are destined to get lost, but that would make for some great stories in the future, definitely would not be funny in the moment

Looks like [TEAM] won Season 79 Challenge Cup! So who won and why? What could the other team have done differently to change the result? What was your favorite part of the series?

The San Francisco Pride won the Challenge Cup, and they definitely did so thanks to a harsh wake up call and an absolute lock in from Justin Time. Time gave up 8 goals in game 1, but after that gave up just 4 goals total in the next 4 games, including only 1 goal over games 2-4. That lock in completely turned the series around for the Pride. I think maybe Philly wasted all their goals in game 1, and they probably felt a little too confident after a game 1 stomping. They needed a closer game 1 to remind themselves not to take it too easy in this series. It's hard to say much else could have gone differently other than that. It was the huge spark for SFP in the next game and it was the only turning point in the series. I think 14-0 is an absolutely insane score in a finals but it's quite iconic so it's hard to call anything else a favourite moment.

Gnabe Dabson leads in both goals and points while Tony Soprano is second for both. Is that enough to give offensive advantage to Philadelphia?

Cale Salad is currently 6 points ahead of next defencemen in points for these playoffs, if they keep it up could we see defenceman winning Anton Razov?

High end offensive talent is cool and all but Justin Time is ahead of BASE PACK on save%, goals against average and goals saved above average. Can Philadelphia solve them or is it Time for another Challenge Cup in San Francisco?

San Francisco has more goals scored per games played than Philadelphia, mostly because of their depth scoring. Which players that aren’t part of first powerplay unit do you expect to have high impact in this series? 

Which team to miss out from the Finals was best in your opinion? Why them?

2. Having two players is not enough for a team to be given the advantage. You need an entire team to make it happen. If you goalie gets hot the offensive advantage means nothing anyway. So I would say that given San Francisco's depth, no Philly does not have the offensive advantage.

3. We definitely could see that. I think most people vote essentially based off of points and nothing else. If he takes and keeps the points lead then I believe the voting committee will vote him in and he will win the Razov trophy. That said the only thing that matters is the cup so we'll see if he can carry his team to that.

Your team has scheduled a road trip to go see games 1 and 2 of the SHL finals between San Francisco and Philadelphia (or to four-star cup finals between those games if your player plays for either team). You’re in charge of officially setting up the trip. The only rule? You gotta go by bus! Where do you stop along the way? Which of your teammates are you most excited to go on a trip with? Do you end up missing game 1 and 2 because of the many stops between your team’s home city to San Francisco that you’ve planned? Does the bus end up breaking down at any point? How does the trip go? If you’re on a team playing in the finals, plan a trip to the first away games instead (by bus ofcourse, for teambuilding and fun).

The Tampa Bay Barracuda are gassing up the bus and heading to the Bay area to watch games 1 and 2 of the Challenge Cup finals! Why? TPE that’s why! This is actually an interesting road trip since we are crossing the whole ass state of Texas, lots of desert, near some national parks, but slim pickings overall. Google maps says its 41 hours of driving. Day 1 – 14 hours from Tampa to Houston. Elected for this route since the rest of the trip will be pretty dry. The cuda can go for a dip in the Gulf anywhere from the panhandle, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, or just wait until Houston. Day 2 – 16.5 hour drive from Houston to Phoenix. Honestly now that Im planning this trip Im glad Im not on it. Why are we doing this again? Day 3 – the final grueling leg of the trip is a 12 hour drive from Phoenix to San Fran. Im gonna say the group does not make it to SF or the hockey games. Probably head straight to Vegas from Houston.

The Pride come out on top in just 5 games over Philly to bring their second cup in just 4 short seasons to the Bay area. You could probably just look at regular season standings and say this wasn’t a surprise at all, but I personally thought things were wide open this year. The West was extremely competitive at the top of the conference with Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Texas in the top tier. I would not have been shocked at those teams making it out of the West, despite solid seasons from NOLA and Minnesota.
The Eastern Conference on the other hand had teams scrounging up points wherever they could find them. Baltimore was the clear bully of the conference, whereas only 10 points separated the 4th seed from the 9th seed who missed the playoffs entirely!
Both teams put themselves in great positions to win the cup. Ultimately I may ask myself if I was a member of the Platoon what happened after Game 2? The defense was strong, and the offense was there the rest of the way. What did we do differently or stop doing that let the Pride put up 18 goals in those last three games?

9. Personally I like staying in contention for as long as possible because rebuilds suck. I've been in them in other leagues and while I've enjoyed the success later on, waiting that long is not pleasant at all. I'm definitely a person who tries to compete as much as possible each year but also is willing to shed old contracts when the team is not competing in order to retool for the future. I think it's definitely possible to do such a thing in the SHL by managing contracts properly and keeping in mind when players start to develop and break down to make sure that you have as many peak contracts and players as possible. - 115 words - 2 TPE

Write your predictions for this year's IIHF tournament or WJC! Tell me about your team! What are your expectations for your player? What teams are you watching out for this time around? Did last season's results surprise you and how much do you expect them to change this time?

The IIHF World Championship this season look to be a contest between three powerhouse teams looking for gold and glory. First, Switzerland, an offensive juggernaut, will look to make the most out of one of its strongest rosters to date, with Ace Lightning, Levin Shattenaxt, and Antonio Flusso looking to rally behind goaltender Tibuk Soonika. The team also has strong veteran leadership in Ivan Lacksamus, Meta Knight, and Spack Jarrow, and that’s without mentioning the Hunziker brothers in the lineup. Fresh off their first appearance, Team Quebec will look to step into its own with a strong squad in its own right. With QCCBOT4 as its goaltender for the tournament, Ekaterina Valieva running the offense, and contributors like Ricky Koivu, Jay Bryzi, Bobby Tkachuky, and Bellamy Blake will likely be the strongest two-way threat. Finally, Latvia will benefit from perhaps its best squad in years, with Benjamin Surkhi-Ze'ev, Jarrod Lakemore, Matiss Ozolinsh, Edzus Ozolins, and Billy Holl will shore up a suffocating offense and defense rivaling some SHL squads, which should make life very easy for goaltender Wayne Holloway. How about those Pride? I’ve always been very high on the Forge for their two-way skill, but it’s unfair for me to simply overlook that the Pride this season have just been the better well-rounded machine, be it in the regular season with their 100-point campaign, or the rock-solid playoff run where only the heroic Calgary Dragons gave them trouble.
