S79 SHL Awards Poll Results
Hello SHL and happy Saturday! I hope everyone had an opportunity to watch the awards show last night. I think @Ara and @Kami1931 did a great job presenting the awards! I'd like to once again thank them on a job well done!
This season the committee grew to a full size of 10 committee members! It provided a lot of active discussion and insight compared to previous seasons! I believe the committee did a great job having a voice this season and I'd once again like to thank all members for all their activity and hard work this season!
Before we get to our results, I would like to explain how voting is done.
When you vote, we give our top 3 for each award.
For each ballot the points are set up like this:
First Place Ballot = 5pts
Second Place Ballot = 3pts
Third Place Ballot = 1pt
Which means the order the players place does matter!
We then tally up the scores from the voters and see where we stand.
If there is a tie after points have been tallied, nominees will be eliminated based on the following, in order:
Least number of first place votes
Least number of first + second place votes
Another note, this season we had 10 committee members but 2 ballots were not submitted. So the results are based off of 8 ballots. The committee heads (myself and Grapehead) do not vote.
With that out of the way, let's finally dig into the results.
John McBride - Best Goaltender
This award was one of the most well defined and clear award in terms of nominees and ballot results. Here are the three players nominated for this award:
Justin Time
Denabor Milasch
Rebecca Montagne
Here is how the voting went for the McBride
With those results, the score was tallied like this:
Justin Time 7 - 1 - 0 = 38 -> 1
Rebecca Montagne 0 - 1 - 7 = 10 -> 3
Denebor Milasch 1 - 6 - 1 = 26 -> 2
In addition to the ballots, here were some of the justifications from your committee members:
One win shy of the single season record, Justin Time had another phenomenal season, with the league's best record, GAA, and shutout count. All three finalists stood head and shoulders above the field with more than 20 goals saved above average, but Time's clutch performance and tougher schedule put him ahead of the pack.
Justin Time absolutely crushed it this season. The most wins by 7, best GAA of the candidates, 7 shutouts, and .908 sv%, all on the most games played of any goalie in the league. SFP probably would have been good without him, but with him, they were the best.
45 Wins, 8 losses. 7 Shutouts. Time has been on of the better players for the last god knows how many seasons. Montagne was on a worse team and still managed to do very well.
Other justifications have similar sayings but you get the gist of it. Time really caught the eyes of the committee this season.
You may have noticed there was a first place vote for Denebor Milash as well. Here was the justification provided by the committee member who put them there:
Denebor Milasch: best save percentage in the league, goals saved above average being first in pretty much all advanced stats on an average team standings wise in Toronto.
Another big congratulations to Justin Time on winning this award! Very well deserved!
Scott Stevens - Best Defender
This one came down to 4 nominees on the ballot. The top three were posted as the top nominees. Here are all 4 on the ballot:
Elena Maximova
Toasty
Nathaniel Barca
Ace Lightning
Here is how the voting went for the Scott Stevens:
With those results, the score was tallied like this:
Elena Maximova 0 - 6 - 1 = 19 -> 2
Toasty 8 - 0 - 0 = 40 -> 1
Nathaniel Barca 0 - 2 - 4 = 10 -> 3
Ace Lightning 0 - 0 - 3 = 3
As you can see, Toasty was voted 1st by all committee members this season. He certainly had an outstanding season to warrant it. Here were the justifications from the committee members:
Toasty was a lynch pin in SFPs fantastic season, and I would argue that no defenseman played a bigger or more impactful role within their team that Toasty. SFP isn't as good as they are without Toasty providing that 1-2 punch of offense and defense on the blue line
The Stevens was a tight award; Toasty and Maximova both had amazing seasons, but Toasty was a bit better for me. A remarkable GA/TA of 6 to 73, only 32 PiM, a remarkably low GA/60 of 2.7, and being a plus asset on the offensive side as well, with 73 points on the year, made Toasty the most complete defensive player in the league, and even an MVP candidate.
Toasty did everything this season. Led all defensemen in points, had a great TA/GA ratio of 12.17. On top of that the Pride were averaging more than a shot/60 when toasty was on the ice and almost a shot and a half against less per 60.
Toasty: most goals, goals and in the 96 percentile for giveaway/takeaway ratio and GA/60 and Sa/60 with also solid corsi and Fenwick stats being the most complete defenseman this season
All committee members agree that Toasty had an incredible season! Another huge congratulations to them on winning the Scott Stevens!
Bojo Biscuit - Best Defensive Defender
Ah the Bojo. For the first time in ages there is no Hodor! But you know who else was on the ballot or nomination list for this award? Way too many people. This award had to be renominated to a shorter list as we had to break a tie for top nominees. For some insight, here is how the original list looked:
As you can see, there were many nominees! In order to cut this list down to top nominees, we had to do a renomination. This was done through a pole for the committee members to pick their two favorites out of the following 5 players:
Jay Bryzi, Rasmus Bergling, Niclas Sundqvist, Furious Chicken and Hugh Manius.
We left Sydney Shaw and Toasty as the top 2 nominees of course.
After the renomination vote, we came down to 4 nominees. Here are those 4 on the ballot:
Sydney Shaw
Toasty
Jay Bryzi
Hugh Manius
And here is how the voting went for the ballots:
With those results, the scores were tallied like this:
Sydney Shaw 3 - 3 - 1 = 25 -> 1
Toasty 1 - 3 - 2 = 16 -> 2
Jay Bryzi 1 - 2 - 4 = 15 -> 4
Hugh Manius 3 - 0 - 1 = 16 -> 2
So much like the nomination process, this one was incredibly close. Each player got at least 1 1st place vote. In this situation, the voting placement made a huge difference to determine the winner. That winner was of course Sydney Shaw. Let’s have a look at some of the justifications from your committee members:
While Toasty had a very impressive season, on specifically the defensive end, Shaw was even that little bit better, anchoring down when her partner marauded into the offensive zone. She had less Goals Against/60, less PiM and more SHTOI, all focuses for the defensive defender.
The San Francisco Pride were the league's best defensive unit this season, and while Toasty led the charge in scoring, Sydney Shaw stands alone as the best true defensive player in the SHL. Of the league's 119 defensemen, no player allowed fewer goals or shots per 60 minutes than Shaw. Not only did she rack up incredible totals in blocks, hits and takeaways, but she also stayed out of the box with just 22 PIMs, in the 90th percentile for SHL defensemen.
Shaw's defensive analytics were great, amazing shutdown dman, Toasty again was cracked
I did think and still think Hugh excelled at everything that a defensive defenseman needs to excel at. 267 blocks, 62 takeaways, 74 hits, big minute muncher, I'm here for it!
great holding up a weaker team
Toasty: over 125 shots blocked, an impressive 73/6 TA/GA ratio, one of the top GA/60 and SA/60 in the league and the best Crosi Against/60 and Fenwick Against/60 in the league having great advanced defensive stats.
The Bojo could probably be a media post in it’s own but that’s how it all worked out and how Sydney Shaw became the winner. Congrats again to Sydney as this award is now becoming a harder one to earn.
Jeff Dar - Best Two Way Defender
In my opinion, this is one of the hardest awards to win. To be an elite player on both sides of the ice takes an exceptional amount of talent and skill! This was another one that had a lot of nominees initially provided. Here is that nominee list:
Sonja was the most nominated, we then took all the 44.44% nominated players and added them all to the ballot to be voted for. So here are the top 4 players on the ballot:
Sonja Solberg
Adam Prpich
Julian Florsch
Viktor Hargreeves
Here is how the voting went on the ballot:
The scores tallied like this:
Sonja Solberg 6 - 1 - 1 = 34 -> 1
Adam Prpich 0 - 3 - 3 = 12 -> 3
Julian Florsch 0 - 0 - 3 = 3 -> 4
Viktor Hargreeves 2 - 4 - 1 = 23 -> 2
The results are pretty clear on this one. The committee believed that Sonja Solberg was the clear winner of the Dar this season! Here are some of the justifications from them:
This one was tight. I ended up voting for Sonja Solberg not because she led in any individual categories, but because she was one of the best in the league in everything you want a Two Way Forward to do; she had blocks, she had hits, she was the leader of these candidates in GA/TA ratio, she had assists and even some goals, for over a PPG. Just the complete model of a Two Way Forward, every team in the league would have been better with Sonja this season.
Sonja was a two way juggernaut combining points and defensive dominance, Prpich has revamped his career as a nice shutdown guy and Vik's first half makes up for a less good 2nd
A Two-Way player is one who can do everything and do it well, and no player fits that role better in the SHL than Sonja Solberg. Scoring at over a point per game on a young team in the league's best division, Sonja doesn't settle for just offense. One of the few forwards to manage a positive takeaway ratio, she wasn't afraid to use her body either, racking up 113 hits and an incredible 72 blocks. On both ends of the ice, it's clear that Calgary's best player was also the league's most complete forward.
Viktor Hargreeves was voted first by two members. Here’s what they had to say about him:
Viktor put up 88 points while playing the 9th most average SHTOI, and tacked on 70 take aways to boot (good for 14th in the league). Defensively responsible and depended on while scoring at an elite pace makes them my pick for the best two way forward any day of the week
Viktor Hargreeves: third amongst forwards in takeaways while having a positive TA/GA ratio , played almost 3 minutes a night on the pk, and had great defensive advanced stats while also putting up 88 points.
Like I opened with, the Dar in my opinion, is one of the hardest awards to win. All nominated players definitely made a great case to win this award. Another big congratulations to Sonja for winning this one!
Ryan Jesster - Best Rookie
Always an exciting award to see handed out! This season we had some more great nominees brought forward! Here are those nominees!
Alexa Johansen
Olafur Atlasson
Cade De Vries
Here is how the voting went for the Jesster this season:
Although the results are already pretty obvious, here is the tally!
Alexa Johansen 8 - 0 - 0 = 40 -> 1
Olafur Atlasson 0 - 8 - 0 = 24 -> 2
Cade De Vries 0 - 0 - 8 = 8 -> 3
Alexa Johansen took this award by a landslide this season! Here are the justifications from the committee!
I'm sorry, but I can't pretend this one was close. This award basically followed tiers; Cade de Vries was excellent, a huge credit to his team, Olafur would have won RotY on my ballot in any other season for the work he put in in EDM, but his teammate was mindblowingly good. Alexa Johansen set the FHM era SHL Rookie Points record, scoring well over a point per game, and nearly broke 90 (she fell just short at 89). All of this, as a rookie, on a first line of all rookies, on a team of 90% rookies, many of whom were early call ups, that regularly would get bodied by the opposition just due to being young. It didn't slow or phase her at all, providing a huge bright spot and a record breaking season, and that needs to be acknowledged.
Setting records is a great way to make a name for yourself early in a career, and Alexa Johansen shattered the SHL's rookie scoring record in her debut for the Blizzard. Even more impressive is that she did so while leading an all-rookie line. There are certainly weaknesses to overcome, but this young superstar has burst onto the stage in record fashion, and should be appearing in award ballots for years to come.
Alexa Johansen: most points out of any rookie with an impressive 89 points, leading both in goals and assists. Also had a decent amount of hits and GF/60 ratings.
Johansen Broke a record and lead their team. Atlasson had a great season on the same team but wasn't better than Johansen.
As you can see this was an easy one for the committee to agree on! Congratulations Alexa Johansen on an incredible season!
Aidan Richan - Most improved Player
An award that can be tough to figure out sometimes. We once again had a strong list of nominees for this award but it came down to a top three of nominees again. Here’s the full list of nominated players brought forward by the committee:
Amongst that list, here are the top three nominated players:
Cal Juice
Toasty
Sonja Solberg
And here is how the ballot voting went:
A bit all over the place! But here is the tally:
Cal Juice 4 - 3 - 1 = 30 -> 1
Toasty 1 - 2 - 5 = 16 -> 3
Sonja Solberg 3 - 3 - 2 = 26 -> 2
Cal Juice was the number 1 nominated player by the committee and despite not receiving all first place votes they were still the winner of this award! Here are some of the justifications from your committee:
Cal had a MASSIVE year to year improvement, going from 34 points in S78 to 92 points in S79 while not seeing their ice time change a lot. Cal made the most of their minutes this year, I don't believe there's a player who improved more
Cal and Toasty exploded this season with huge comeback stories from seasons past, and Solberg's steady rise has emerged into true greatness in S79. Cal's 90+ points feels like the slight winner, but all three candidates are great.
Cal Juices numbers from last season to this are kinda crazy. From 34 points to 92 is crazy as fuck. With roughly 48 more seconds played and tripling the point production. Insane.
I voted Sonja again because, again, across various categories (points, PiM taken, GA's, TA's, and hits), she improved across the board. The other players up for this award saw advancements, but also big steps back, like increases in PiM or significantly less blocks.
Sonja's two way insane season secures her my first ballot, Cal has been a yo yo in terms of points, Toasty has always been somewhat good
Sonja Solberg- +24 points from last season (highest), -14 PiM taken, -10 GA's, +23 TA's, blocks is actually -1 from best ever, but +9 on least season, and +14 hits
Toasty took off from D this year
Lots of opinions on this one! But a big congratulations to Cal Juice on your big step this season on becoming the leagues awarded, most improved player as selected by the committee.
Lance Uppercut - Top GM
What makes a GM the best? Is it off season trades? Progressively improving roster? Maintaining a competitive team after regression? Well we’ll soon see what the committee had to say. Before I show the top three nominees, a special nod to the Philadelphia Forge and the Texas Renegades who received nominations from committee members but didn’t make the top three. Here are those top three!
LAP
SFP
CGY
Here is how the voting went!
And the tally was added up like so:
LAP 2 - 4 - 2 = 24 -> 2
SFP 3 - 3 - 2 = 26 -> 1
CGY 3 - 1 - 4 = 22 -> 3
As you can see, this was a very close one. Each team was only 2 points apart. Let’s have a look at the justifications from our committee members:
A tough one, but I think the work of SFP to manage to not explode with Caleb leaving was very impressive, especially in cap hell as they were. LAP did similar, but seems to have regressed slightly more overall.
SFP got put directly in the right track by BW, same argument for LAP, looking back on CGY I... I actually don't think they should be here
LAP: made some great trades to load up for another cup run while keeping their strong core together and finishing in second overall in the SHL
CGY had the biggest standings jump in the SHL this past season, so credit to the GMs for their continued push forward!
Calgary's quiet rise has been overshadowed by the fact that the Pacific is the toughest division in the SHL by a wide margin, and this season's performance is proof of the work that the Dragons have been putting in for several seasons now. A huge jump to 5th in the standings is the result of a strong rebuild plan that mixes draft picks with free agent acquisitions and good trades, along with a core of players fully committed to success when the odds are stacked against them.
As you can see the decision was pretty split among members. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so close honestly! So a big congrats to SFP on winning this very tight award! It really could have gone either way.
Joe McKeil - Best Coach
In order to succeed in this league you really need a good coach to set lines and tactics! A lot of teams are getting closer and closer in terms of TPE so a good coach is becoming more and more important! Here are the nominees for this award this season! Again, a special nod to two teams who impressed the committee but din’t quite make the top three, The Philadelphia Forge and The Calgary Dragons.
SFP
TEX
LAP
Here is how the voting went on the ballots:
And tallied like so:
SFP 8 - 0 - 0 = 40 -> 1
TEX 0 - 5 - 2 = 17 -> 2
LAP 0 - 2 - 5 = 11 -> 3
As you can see, SFP was the clear choice for the committee this season for the Coach of the year award! Here is what the committee had to say!
How can it not be SFP? They DOMINATED the league, with every player playing at an extremely high level. Not only did they have the pieces there, they utilized them all effectively
For similar reasons to the Uppercut, my vote goes to SFP. But it also feels worth nothing they've had players nominated for almost every award this season, and that's something that doesn't happen with bad coaches.
The Pride came into the season with a good roster, but their performance outshone the teams that were supposed to be ahead of them. In the league's toughest division, SFP managed the SHL's best offense (5.24 GF/GP), defense (3.08 GA/GP), and goal differential (+143, a full 55 points better than the 2nd place team), as well as an elite special teams unit. Any one of those metrics would put them in contention for the McKeil, but to reach the top in all of them with a roster that was expected to regress from last season makes them stand alone at the top.
Congratulations to The Pride Coaches!
Damien Littleton - Most dedicated User
There are so many great users in this league it’s hard to nominate just a couple. I honestly think this award could use a bit more work in terms of how it’s done as it’s getting harder to defin a dedicated user. There are lots of people to recognize, why just award one? Anyway, for now, here is the full list of nominated users for this award:
And the top three nominated users this season were NaomiMannequeen, Ara and Frenchie!
Here is how the voting went for the littleton:
And tally went like this:
NaomiMannequeen 6 - 2 - 0 = 36 -> 1
Ara 0 - 4 - 4 = 16 -> 3
Frenchie 2 - 2 - 4 = 20 -> 2
Again, any of these users are well deserving of this award! Here are the justifications from your committee members:
Naomi has been in discussion for this award for a long time, and her work in the recruitment team has been essential in keeping the league going. What stands out most this season, though, was her work in putting together the first prospect tournament since S62, taking on the challenge of finding and scheduling new simmers, as well as advertising the tournament across the league and to new sponsors. As the PT team co-head, she's also been hard at work bringing new life to the league's PTs, including unprecedented levels of engagement to steer the direction of site tasks in a way to maximize community engagement.
NaomiMannequeen - For their excellent work with recruitment, organizing the first prospect tournament since S62 (finding and scheduling new simmers, planning advertisement and team structure) in addition to work with the PT team as co-head. There's lots of great stuff coming in about Naomi. Her name has been echoed for the last couple of seasons as well.
What doesn't Naomi do? Like 400 jobs. Helping with Calgary and QCC with lines, drafting and just general team composition. You might as well just name this the Naomi Award
can they all win?
Another big congratulations to Naomi and all other nominees! Let’s celebrate all the wonderful users and everything they do!
Ron Mexico - League MVP
This is the one! The league's best player! So how did the committee come to the decision of the best player in the league? We actually had 4 names to be voted on for the ballot this season. Here is the full nominee list for the Ron Mexico:
Out of those, we went with the top two and the tied for 3rd nominations on the ballot. Here are the cards for those players:
Chris Valentine
Logan Webb
Toasty
Derek Martin
Here is how the voting for the ballots went on the players above:
And the tally was scored like this:
Chris Valentine 7 - 1 - 0 = 38 -> 1
Logan Webb 1 - 3 - 2 = 16 -> 2
Toasty 0 - 1 - 4 = 7 ->4
Derek Martin 0 - 3 - 2 = 11 -> 3
As you can see, all but one member voted for Chris Valentine this season! Let’s see what the committee had to say about Chris Valentine:
Chris Valentine didn't just lead the league in goals and points, he did it without having the support of multiple other awards candidates on his team, making it easy to say that of the MVP candidates, he was the one who not only was best in the league, but played the biggest individual role in team success, as well.
Chris Valentine led the league In Goals and Points this year. They were also 28 points above their next closest teammate. They contributed on 37% of TEX's goals which was the highest of all nominees. I believe out of all the nominees Valentine had the largest impact on their team.
Valentine is the league's best player, singlehandedly carrying his team to 3rd in the league while wrapping up the scoring title as well. Webb and Toasty come very close as the league's best winger and defender, but ultimately this goes to the one man show that kept Texas alive
Chris Valentine: led the league in points and goals and there was a crazy 28 point gap between him and his next best teammate in terms of points. Texas surprised people and finished 3rd in the league and I think a lot of it has to do with Valentine carrying the team offensively
Valentine leads the league in the points and the only Texas player in the top 10. Martin has a similar spot and then Webb is Webb. He's Second in the league in points but on one of the best teams, if not the best.
And the member who voted for Webb:
Webb stepped up big time and pushed the Pride to a 1st place finish, Valentine led in points, Toasty was unreal as a dman
It was indeed an incredible season for Chris Valentine. Another huge congratulations on winning the league’s most valuable player award!
Anton Razoff - Playoff MVP
Aside from the regular season MVP, we also have the most valuable player of the playoffs! Often times the majority of the nomination list of for this award comes from the winning team. In this case all players who were voted on for the ballot were indeed all from SFP. However we did have a couple players nominated from the other team on the short list. Here’s the full nomination list:
Although the top 3 consisted of SFP players, Gnabe Dabson made it through to the voting round as the Forge representative. Let’s see some details on our 4 players on the ballot:
Logan Webb
Dominik Winters
Gnabe Dabson
Justin Time
And here is how the voting went for the ballot:
And here is the full tally of the votes:
Justin Time 8 - 0 - 0 = 40 -> 1
Dominik Winters 0 - 5 - 2 = 17 -> 2
Logan Webb 0 - 3 - 4 = 14 -> 3
Gnabe Dabson 0 - 0 - 2 = 2 -> 4
It was a full sweep on this one for Justin Time. He absolutely deserved it as well. Here’s what the committee had to say about Justin Time!
Lifting the cup is a team effort, but requires individual excellence to steal wins when the team falters. Time's .911 save percentage and 2.76 GAA kept the Pride in the game when the offense faltered, and his outright dominance in the Challenge Cup Finals sealed the Pride's cup victory, with two of his four shutouts coming on the road in the final series.
Justin Time: 16-4-1, 2.76 GAA, 4 SO, .911 sv%, 15.19 GSAA
Justin Time. What can you even say except he stood on his head? He had four shutouts in the playoffs, including some in the finals, and had a .911 sv%, actually getting better than in the season. The man earned this with phenomenal play from first to last.
Justin Time built off of their incredible regular seasons with a dominant playoff performance. He can't be credited fully with SFPs run this year, but he surely turned it up another few notches to make sure SFP locked it up!
Look at that goaltending
In terms of importance. Time dominated.
I mean realisitically speaking. Time is the best and there's nothing more to be sad. You put up crazy stats and win the whole thing. Idk what else you could be looking for
A well deserved win for Justin Time! Sometimes your goalie will carry you to victory and the Awards Committee certainly all agreed that Time put in the work and deserved this one! Congrats again Justin!
Sarmad Khan - Players MVP award
Finally, we’ll end off with the Khan results. Now this is not a committee voted award of course but I thought why not share the results of this one as well! I also gave each of the top 3 voted for players some questions to answer which I was hoping would make the award presentation but they cut it out which is fine given the length of the show! So without further ado, here were the top 3 players voted for the Khan this season:
Chris Valentine
What a season by this guy. I had some questions for him. This is how they went:
How does it feel to be nominated by the league as the player's MVP?
This is such a huge honor, it's honestly hard to describe. I would have never guessed, all those hears ago in Great Falls, that I would wind up being considered for one of the most prestigious individual awards in the SHL.
Did you get many Valentines in school? Give many?
Honestly, Valentine's Day was always a nightmare for me growing up. I always tried to be a good sport about it, but there was always plenty of joked made at my expense. But it can't be as bad as someone having their birthday on Christmas, I think that has to be one of the worst holiday related fates.
Was this ever a goal you had in mind for your career or is it a bit unexpected?
Individual awards have never been a goal for me. Team success has always been the priority. If my team finds success, and I happen to get some individual recognition along the way, then so be it. But that's never been what I've sought. The team is #1.
Do you have a linemate or teammate to thank for helping you get here?
I've had lots of great linemates over my career, but playing on a line with Marton Diehm has literally been one of the most entertaining things. I can always count on him to land a great hit at the perfect time to open up some ice and let us get set up.
If the award was made of chocolate, would you eat it? Or preserve it?
I'd eat it. We don't waste chocolate in my house.
Thank you Chris for answering my questions!
Antoine Beauregard
What a season by this guy in NEW. Maybe underrated? Here’s what he had to say to my questions:
How does it feel to be nominated by the league as the player's MVP?
It feels special being nominated for the MVP. Especially being that it's a player voted award. It's the first time I've been nominated for an MVP award in my over a decade tenure here.
Who's the biggest cheerleader in the NEW locker room?
The biggest cheerleader would easily be Luke. He's done his best to try and help me reach my personal goals.
Was this ever a goal you had in mind for your career or is it a bit unexpected?
To be honest I never expected to be nominated for an MVP. I imagined the most prestigious award I would have a shot at was the Darr. So when I finally was nominated last season, I felt I had reached my goal. Then I fell short, so this would be a fantastic silver lining.
Do you have a linemate or teammate to thank for helping you get here?
I wouldn't be where I'm at without Nathan Cormier. We have been linemates for the better part of my career with New England. He is a special player and teammate, which is why I had him join me in France.
If the award was made of chocolate, would you eat it? Or preserve it?
If the award were made of chocolate, I would melt it down into hot cocoa. Then drink it with some toasted marshmallows and I would have no regrets.
Thanks Antoine for answering my questions! Keep up the great career!
Logan Webb
A powerhouse player on a powerhouse team. I asked Logan some questions and here is what I got back:
How does it feel to be nominated by the league as the player's MVP?
To be honest, it is a surprise. There are so many talented players whom I believe deserve this award more than I do. Win or lose, it is a real honor that I have been nominated by my peers for this prestigious honor.
What stat do you think needs the most TPE in order to win hockey games?
Friendship. Kidding. For my position, and what I try to do it is offensive reads, knowing where to be on the ice to put myself and my team in the best position to score.
Was this ever a goal you had in mind for your career or is it a bit unexpected?
I came into the league with three main goals in mind. Reach 2000 TPE and join the 2k club. Win a few Challenge Cups, and win an individual award. I never expected to nessicarily accomplish these goals but I have always aimed as high as possible to try and get the most out of myself.
Do you have a linemate or teammate to thank for helping you get here?
There is no shortage of players to thank as there isn't just one player who helped me reach this level. Thank you to my entire team, they helped me elevate my game, supported me, and allowed me to play the game while covering my mistakes. I want to thank a few coaches and GMs as well, Artermis who helped me at the start of my junior career, Southpaw who helped me find my competitive edge, Toast for drafting me and giving me a home, Caleb teaching me to be a pro, Bad Wolf our reigning queen whom gave us a rally point this season as we all worked harder than ever, and RAmenAmen who has coached me at my peak and really deserves this award himself on multiple levels.
If the award was made of chocolate, would you eat it? Or preserve it?
I don't think I could ever eat a piece of history no matter how good the chocolate may be. I would cherish it forever.
What incredibly modest players. All three of you.
So, let’s have a look at the results! Who did YOU vote for as the league’s most valuable player?
Chris Valentine received 115 votes
Antoine Beauregard received 32 votes

It was a pretty large majority win for Chris Valentine! Congratulations again on winning the league voted MVP!
That wraps things up for this post presentation media post! I’d like to thank all committee members for their excellent discussion this season regarding nominees throughout the season! You all did a great job and really excelled at bringing in the conversation that the committee so dearly needed. I’d also like to send a big thank you to @FuzzSHL for all his previous hardwork on the committee and his dedication to all things stats. We recently gained access to the player cards and man are they nice. Very happy we can share them all here! Look forward to more of Fuzz’s hard work being shown as he has provided us with access to his other amazing spreadsheets!
I hope you all enjoyed the presentation and I hope you all enjoy this data. If anyone would like to discuss anything additional or would like to see more or less, please let me know! We want to build a final product that the league is happy to see! A final congratulations to all the award winners! We’ll see you all again at the end of next season for the next post presentation media post! Thanks for reading!

Really nice reading through this, great work. But when was the last time you've updated some of these team logos?

Which logos need updating? It’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated the logos, but it wasn’t exactly super easy with Discord dropping as a host a while back

I would include the North Stars, but no one really cares about Toronto Sig by Lazyeye
