Growing up in Latvia, Rence Sykut had only skated on outdoor rinks until he started to play organized hockey at the comparatively late age of twelve. That is why the idea of playing an outdoor SHL game brings sparks of joy to Rence's face when the idea is presented. It would truly be a blast from the past to skate and feel the cold winter air blowing past. Another thing Rence always enjoyed was the re-introduction of the elements into the game of hockey. The sun, the wind, and the moisture make the game imperfect but to him, that is part of the beauty of outdoor hockey. Naturally, Rence would love to play in an outdoor game in Seattle in front of the Argos' faithful, but he also dreams of holding such an event in his native Latvia, perhaps in Riga for his native Latvian fans to enjoy and fall in love with the game like he did.

Written option 2: Had Marian not followed hockey, I think they would have leaned towards figure skating. As a kid, they frequently viewed figure skating events with much excitement and even attempted to imitate some of the routines they observed on television. Given their innate athletic ability, coordination, and elegance on the ice, figure skating would have suited them perfectly. I think they would thrive in figure skating and might have considered a professional career in the field.
In a different timeline where Marian opted for figure skating instead of hockey, I imagine them attaining remarkable success. Through their strong work ethic, commitment, and devotion to honing their skills, they would have advanced within the ranks and established a reputation in the figure skating arena. Their drive to compete and talent for managing stress would have benefited them in figure skating contests, enabling them to excel on the ic e.

rowing up in Busan there was not a lot of Winter Sports to really get involved in, as even if the city is quite sizable, there are a limited number of ice sheets to do anything on. As a beach city, there’s no frozen lakes and ponds to really get out to, so most get into warm weather sports if anything. Ju-gong himself was more of a badduk player in his free time, a strategy board game that was unrelated to any real athletics. That said, upon moving to Quebec he has taken on a few new hobbies. The biggest of which is curling, something he does quite often during breaks in the schedule, and when meeting up with old QCC teammates. Perhaps if curling were a big thing in Korea, and specifically Busan in general, there could be a world where Ju-gong worked his way up to the Olympics team for South Korea. Still, without hockey he’d likely have never stepped onto an ice sheet in the first place.

1. Levon would love playing in the Winter Classic, he played outside all the time in Slovakia, and this would be a great opportunity to reconnect with that aspect. Depending on where the rink is, the temperature might be warmer then what he was used to, but he will adjust accordingly. He is also of the opinion that these games should happen more often, and should be cheaper than normal games because it is out in the cold. There isn’t much you can do to prepare for such a game, since most of the players are used to the cold, but Levon will offer advice to some of the more southern born players. He had the privilege to play in the winter classic last year in Vancouver, and while they didn’t win, it was a refreshing experience. He really wishes that they happened more often, to give all the players a chance to experience a radically different environment.

With more and more outdoor games scheduled each year, it's pretty obvious that the league sees a marketing opportunity in the Winter Classic, but it's still a fun opportunity to bring something new to our season-long routine. As much as I'd love for us to host an outdoor game, San Francisco isn't exactly suited for maintaining quality ice outdoors, even on our coldest days. I can't think of a better matchup for the game than the Pride and Panthers though, two teams who've dominated the Pacific division for most of the modern era, and the outdoor rink at Lake Tahoe is close enough for both teams to feel a "home" presence while getting a unique experience that feels closer to the pond hockey games of childhood than a mass-marketed ticket sale generator. The Pride will hopefully put another win on our record as we continue to pretend regression isn't real, and try to take home one more cup win before settling in for the start of the next generation.

Written Option 2: If Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava had not pursued hockey with the dream of playing in the SHL and currently playing for the team that drafted him the Toronto North Stars, Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava would have likely wanted to get in to alpine skiing. As a child, Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava was captivated by the sheer speed and precision of skiers carving down icy slopes on top of some of the most gorgeous mountains in the world. As a kid Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava's weekends often included family trips to the local ski hill in Ukraine. Growing up Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava admired athletes like Lindsey Vonn or Bode Miller, whose daring runs and resilience inspired Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava to push limits when it came to competing in sports. Skiing remains a hobby for Slava Ukraini Heroyam Slava offering him both a physical challenge and a mental escape from hockey.

Boots grew up skating outside. Whether it was the frozen bog or the pond down the road. Occasionally he'd get the opportunity to skate bigger areas too but for the most part the safest was always the bog. He and his friends would get out there early and spend the whole day with their hockey sticks and their skates until they were dragged off by their parents.
The winter classic is definitely something to look forward to for Boots. Getting that feeling of playing outside again is so nostalgic for him. And now getting the opportunity to do that with his friends and teammates made it all the more special. They still however had a real SHL hockey game to get out there and win so while it was fun it was still important to bring their all to the ice. This season the Renegades will play the Syndicate outdoors. A rivalry game with great respect between players. It will for sure be a great game to watch.

Being from Zacapa, Guatemala, there isn't exactly a rink or even a facility to practice ice skating let alone something like inline skating. So to Cadmael an outdoor game would be near unfathomable and I think that the concept of game like hockey being played outdoors would be a very new and unique experience for him. He might initally be skeptical of the idea because he could not even picture the idea of an ice rink outside without some high tech specialty equipment, but he would turn around to it once he got a play of some pond hockey. If he had the chance to pick his opponent, he would probably choose someone he knows like an exhibition between the Raptors and the Patriotes, which would be a cool little matchup to see. As for soemthing to take from the outdoor game, he has always been a sucker for memorabilia and custom jerseys, so definitely a custom jersey for the event or like an engraved stick or something.

Prompt 1
Sir, madam, Mxr, M’Baku Olubori is from Nigeria. It doesn’t even snow around Abuja. Hockey season in the rest of the world is the dry season for Nigeria. Because of that, this Winter Classic game is a first for Baku. For years, the league staunchly ignored Baltimore for outdoor games, instead hyping up and having Toronto, Hamilton, or Buffalo playing Calgary, San Francisco, or Chicago every year. Now, it’s Toonza Time. For present fans, I think most would get excited about a game against the Atlanta Inferno—after years of playoff matchups, the rivalry, while respectful, is heated and exciting. Baltimore would obviously have to host it because, duh, it’s Georgia. For the old school fans, I think a Buffalo-Baltimore game could be fun. While easily overlooked during the Hamilton-Buffalo heyday, those late S40s Baltimore-Buffalo playoff series were tense, so that energy could be fun as well! You could bring back alumni like Alex Selich, Cassius Darrow, Eric Vanderberg, Beauxjeaux Biscuit, and Karl Krashwagen! It would sell well. I think Baku would have a blast against (almost) any opponent, though, and embrace the special energy Baltimore would bring to that event. Just no live eagles this time, Johnny Hamilton. Learn your lesson!

Being from Germany and close to the Swiss boarder, Will Nuck was blessed with the ability and the logistics to be on the slopes very frequently. He was very much into skiing of all sorts, down hill and cross country a like and was lucky that his family was also a fan of the sport. This allowed him to get to spend many a weekend on the hill and in the forest and mountains enjoying the hobby. Skiing not only helped strengthen his core and lower body but it also helped him work on his balance and edge strength. These exercises, although inadvertently, did help him in a large way with his hockey game and lead to a great set of basic physical skills in all things he did in life. He was so blessed in his location that he was able to ski some major world known hills like the Matterhorn very frequently.

Option 2: Dionicio has always enjoyed skiing when he has time off and during the off-season. In his native Sweden skiing is a big pastime and sport with many different variants to try and compete in. While it is adrenaline-filled to be skiing downhill in slalom making sure to make it to each post and dealing with the speed and bumps, Dionicio finds biathlon skiing to be very fun. Biathlon is a mix of a standard race with stops where you have to shoot targets. How good your shooting is will impact the time so pure speed isn’t the only way to win, you have to mix speed, and endurance with the steady hands for accuracy shooting all in the freezing cold. Dioncicio is used to the cold while needing to think and act critically during fast-paced hockey. The question of how good he’d be comes down to how good he could shoot. He may be a sniper in hockey, but I doubt that translates very well to ski shooting. With enough effort, I know Dionicio could become good at least.
