I think the winter classic is a great way to show the world the SHL product and introduce (or reintroduce) them to hockey in a way that is exciting, fresh, and meaningful. Johnny FourStar didn't play much pond hockey growing up in Sweden, but he loves the outdoors. Johnny often goes snow shoeing in the frigid Winnipeg winters. He loves the fresh air and loves any opportunity to do something special in the league. Hearing that the Winnipeg Aurora would face off against the New England Wolfpack at this seasons SHL Winter Classic was a big deal! It's a great chance for fans of the league to come together and celebrate the game we all love. Johnny doesn't think that it's a rip off or anything like that. This is our chance to play in front of crowds larger than what can fit in any SHL arena! It's a fun time! People should not be such Debbie Downers about a game that is so much fun to play and to go to and see in person.

Option 2:

Beck is from Switzerland, and in his offseason time he likes to ski in the Alps. I'm sure with his athleticism and aptitude for sports that he would have had some success with professional skiing if he were not a professional hockey player. He likes to ride the black diamonds and double black diamonds, but his agent and GM like to keep him to the blues and greens to minimize the risk to their asset. Once he retires this year, though, no one cares about him and he can go back to his precipitous mountains and avalanches. Sure it's a requirement to love skiing as a Swiss man (right?), but secretly his favorite part about skiing is the Swiss hot chocolate that awaits him after a long day on the slopes. Sitting by a warm fire resting his aging and old bones, thinking about the far off day when he won't be able to play hockey or ski down a mountain anymore.

Even though hockey was always Cormier's favourite sport and the one he dedicated the most time to, he was at least decent in most sports that he played growing up. He was a great athlete and even excelled at some summer sports like soccer and baseball. But his real love was always more for winter sports, skiing being his favourite during the colder months other than hockey. He never did get to skii as much as he wanted given as his busy hockey schedule, which only got busier as he kept progressing to more competitive leagues. But when he did have the time, he would often spend entire days at the skii hill and he was very naturally talented, much like with hockey. He picked up on new tricks and techniques very quickly and probably would have been able to take part in some tournaments if he kept up with it as much as he did with hockey. In the end, the hockey schedule became way too busy to keep doing any other activities regularly and since then, he only skiis once a year over chirstmas break.

I think Prpich has a romanticized idea of hockey, and how it felt to play hockey while growing up. A big part of his life was moving to an unfamiliar country, and using hockey as a means to connect with new people who he may not have been able to easily communicate with. Most of this would have taken place at hockey rinks, but some would have probably taken place on ponds in the winter.

This idea of playing outdoors would initially bring back those feelings of playing care free hockey with friends. I think he'd feel a rush of nostalgia upon first stepping onto the ice. That feeling would very quickly fade because what hockey means to him now is so different. Adam is a professional, and he treats the game very seriously now. After a brief moment of enjoying the winter air on his face, he would snap right back into pro hockey mode, focused entirely on doing his job and trying to win.

Written option 1:

Cale grew up in Saskatchewan he basically learnt to skate on the homemade rink in his backyard. He also would spent hours in the winter when not on the ice with his team at the outdoor rinks working on his skating and shooting pucks against the boards. So when it comes to the outdoor winter classic it definitely brings back some of the memories of his younger days and playing some shinny on the outdoor rinks. But in saying that the outdoor games are still a gimmick to sell more overpriced tickets, and design a cool collector jersey to boost the sales. That being said it doesn’t take away the fact that it is still a game that is a must win for the home crowd and draws some extra special attention to a traditional rivalry game. Overall the game is a gimmick but shouldn’t take away from the fact that it does make the game feel a little more special.

Kiwi grew up playing hockey on a sailboat with her cat and sisters. So I guess that counts as an outdoor game. But she never **skated** on an outdoor pond. Even when playing in Visby Sweden, she only ever went on like dates to ice skating ponds, never like played an actual hockey game. What's even wilder is the Winter Classic is in Nevada, who can they freeze ice in Nevada when its like 70 degrees at best in this city. Like is it even really ice at this point? This can't be actual frozen water that Kiwi has been practicing on outdoors. Science is weird man. Anyway Kiwi enjoys they game. They play Carolina (also another warm weather team) and its a lot of fun and they do fireworks and have to play at night when its coolest. Really its playing under the outdoor lights that was the coolest part. Also I don't think there's another franchise in Vegas in the Sim League universe so they play at the local community college.

Quazon Brosonchi would love for the Winter Classic to be held in the place he grew up - that being of course the town of Derry, Ireland. A hockey rink right smack dab in the middle of the slums would make a statement - Quazon had made it. Those who had doubted him and still doubt that he will ever make it into the ranks of the SHL will be finally silenced as they realize he has enough authority to dictate the location of the season's most prestigious game. Of course, discount seats would be available for all the locals so that they would actually be able to afford to attend, the stipulation of this being those who were members of rival gangs would not be permitted entry. I'm sure they will find Quazon in the parking lot regardless, but he will be ready with his friends, family, and teammates to take on whatever comes his way. He always has.

Written Option 1.

The crowd Screams and as Abbe Wass and his teammates enter the rink an old memory knocks on Abbes mind. He opens the memory and all of a sudden he is back on the lake.
It is new year's day and the traditional new year's game is about to take place. A couple of friends and families. meets up on the day before to remove the snow, so that those boring preparations don't have to Occur on the game day.
After The game it's time for the must eat hot dog and hot chocolate and laughter about stuff that happened. How the shoe that was placed as a goalpost flew far away when the smallest participant shot his shot. Or that friendly collision that made three people land face down in the snow.
Suddenly the horn sounds out a loud noise and Abbe wakes up from his old trip down memory lane.
The warm ups are done and it's time to get serious. And hope there will be some hot chocolate after the game.

Growing up Nathaniel was always either at the old barn rink with the self pushed zamboni, or out on the frozen pond. He remembers it was always a pain to get the puck out of the snow bank. As far as the outdoor games go though, they don't replicated that feeling at all. To get something similar, Barca will head to a community rink on an off day in the winter and just play around with the skaters there, making sure to bring along some sweet swag for the fans to enjoy, and the best thing is they now have an awesome memory.
These outdoor games are not that. The climate is bad - usually too hot or too cold, the sun can get to an annoying part, and the stadium usually isn't good for the fans. It's a cash grab by the league to sell extremely inflated tickets and over priced "classic" gear to fans. And now they are putting on an outdoor game in Texas? In what world does that make sense.

Dejana Kaptina is more than happy to play in an outdoor game, and played plenty of outdoor puck growing up in Switzerland. Playing in a stadium, which for QC would likely be Telus Stadium (the home of the Université Laval gridiron team), probably won't be able to create the same magic, just because instead of just being a lil kid playing shinny on a frozen lake you are an adult with tens of thousands of fans cheering on your every  move. It's a different kind of experience. Some may call it a gimmick, and to an extent it is, but a little microdose of gimmick every now and then with an outdoor game is fine. Hell, in real life I think the NHL should've doubled down on the Winter Classic and made it its in-season showcase and business summit, abolishing the All-Star Game (which, when was the last time it was watchable?) instead of watering it down with the Stadium Series.

If Dejana was to pick an opponent - gimme Newfoundland. Two elite teams.
