Shiny Rainbow has never played hockey outside in her entire life. Since she is from the northern coast of portugal, it simply doesn't get cold enough. Even the most freezing winter nights are still around 10°C. So playing in an outdoor game would be something very special for her to enjoy. And yeah a winter classic game at home in Quebec City in a huge outdoors stadium would be awesome. Maybe they could have a rematch of last seasons cupfinal against the Colorado Raptors. But there would definetly be another setting that SHiny Rainbow would enjoy even more. Since she is a fan of the outdoors nature a hockey game in the wilderness on a real frozen pond would be even more special to her. I guess the best places for that would be Alaska or Yukon. So the Quebec City CItadellse would be the visiting team playing either the Yukon Malamutes or the Anchorage Armada. No Arena, no boards, no stands. Just a huge frozen pond, 2 teams, 2 Nets and a puck. That would be the game Shiny Rainbow would love to play in.

Colton Paraygeko was not just star-studded hockey player in his earlier days. He was also a fantastic lacrosse player growing up. Colton always loved playing lacrosse during the hockey-off season in Canada to keep his stickhandling and hand-eye coordination fresh for hockey. Like hockey, Colton played close defense with the Long Pole. Many times with ground balls, he’d use his long pole like a hockey stick to redirect the ball away from defenders and commence the clearing of his defensive zone. In the end, he knew he had to choose between the two sports he loved and decided hockey was the sport to pursue as he had a better chance of making a career out of it since hockey is more mainstream. Although, he always wondered what choice he would have made if things were the other way around. To this day, one of Colton’s pre-game warm-up routines is playing “wall ball” and doing some stickhandling tricks with his short stick.

Being from Great Britain, Jett Labyrinth was used to rainy soccer games not outdoor hockey games on the ice but the concept of an outdoor game has always fascinated him. He’s played a bit in the outdoors when he moved to Canada but a fully organised game that would count would certainly feel a bit surreal to him. Plus, Jett is not the most tolerant of the cold weather which he knows will be an issue when he moves to Winnipeg next year. Of course the whole premise is a bit gimmicky but seeing the community come together for an event like this is well worth it. Jett wants to play the Maine Timber as they’re the historic rival of Newfoundland, and hopefully they would be able to play in St. John’s. What also really interests him is the jerseys they wear, perhaps an ode to the Lethbridge Lions or something a bit new and different.

Weston got to play hockey a little growing up, but his feelings on the Winter Classic are more mixed. Where outdoor hockey as a kid is either pond hockey or a game on a neighbor's little backyard rink, professional leagues' Winter Classic games are nothing like that: it's hard-hitting hockey to score points towards the regular season standings, on live television. That means it's more of a normal game on the one hand -- but a game where you're liable to be colder than you are on the ice, more susceptible to injury, and more likely to struggle to see the puck in front of you. He has a tendency to be a little cynical about things, but the Winter Classic just isn't for him -- at least, not according to him.
In reality, he would probably get swept up in the moment if he actually played in one. If he did, he would want to play as part of Newfoundland against the Quebec City Citadelles. If he was in the SHL by that point, then the natural answer would be the Edmonton Blizzard against the Calgary Dragons -- or perhaps the Texas Renegades, in an ode to a rivalry long forgotten by the march of time. ![]() Registered Senior Member
