S80 PT #3: Winter Classic Due: Sunday, January 5th @ 11:59 PM PST

Pass Forfeit finally is excited to play outside. The last time he did so it was maybe 10-20 years ago which is a long range but something reasonably believable for the purposes of this. He is quite the player in outside games like you wouldnt believe. It is honestly a sight to behold when it does happen. Of all the games of all time, Pass Forfeit in the outdoor game is a big deal. Last time he scored maybe 5 of 8 points though i cant count properly so it also couldve been 1 or 0 plus or minus 3. There is something special about outdoor games. First, it is a great way to see Pass Forfeit kill it outdoors. Second it is also an even better way of seeing Panthers games. And finally it is a way of seeing games that is not typical of a typical SHL game. If you thought bulling was possible this is the worst youve probably seen. The Winter Classic fears Pass Forfeit and maybe his uber will arrive soon

Being from Toronto, my player (Zac Peters) had plenty of chances to play on outdoor rinks, and he prefered playing on outdoor rinks since it reminds him of how hockey became the sport we all love. Playing in an stadium game 100% means more towards the players since only a handful of outdoor games occur every year. So it is always a special occasion when you are given the opportunity to play in one. The feelings will be replicated I believe for most players, since like I said before, it is a special occasion and you will always remember playing in that game. No matter what the result of it is. I would want the game to occur in Toronto, the largest hockey city in the world. Which is also the hometown of my player so it would be very special. The opponent I would pick is probably Maine, since they are our (Scarecrows) rival, so the game would actually have purpose behind it, and not just a throw away game like it was this year in real life. (Chicago vs St Louis, who seriously watched that???)

Playing Outdoors was how i grew up. Playing outside on a roller rink with a boombox. Blasting jams everytime we score. It was always a dream to play in the big leagues in the same fashion. So Playing in a stadium would really bring back those memories. And it would really be amazing from some young fans to experience the outdoor game as well. So it really is a once if a lifetime event for some fans and even players. If I had to pick an opponent I would say the Colorado Raptors would play against the Carolina Kraken. It would be held at Mile High Stadium in Denver. It only makes sense to hold it at the oldest stadium and an important landmark in all of Colorado. Hopefully it would end up on a day where there is a snowstorm. Playing in the snow Outdoors would be iconic.  Obviously we would all walk out with a youth hockey player from a local hockey club. The perfect setup for a hockey game.

Written Option 2:

Javelin Bodine was always incredibly interested in a lot of other winter sports besides hockey. He was mostly interested in snowboarding because growing up they always seemed to be the cool dudes. He learned to snowboard in his early teenage years and is an overal decent snowboarder. He certainly would never have been able to be a professional snowboarder though. Professional snowboarders are incredibly talented and fearless! They go off massive jumps that Javelin couldn't even dream of surviving. Even with a ton of time on the mountain, Javelin wouldn't have been anything more than your average snowboarder. He can partake in some minimal jumps, rails, and box rails, but it ends there. Javelin doesn't really love the trick park that much at any mountain though. His love of snowboarding is more in trail riding down a simple blue square or green circle trail. Maybe he should've taken up skiing instead, they seem to work a lot less when simply going down the mountain.

Edouard Lavoie enjoyed cross country skiing for a short while as a youngster. He also enjoyed shooting sports, and therefore was obviously drawn to biathlon. He spent some time doing it at a younger age, but in order to become a professional hockey player he had to give up most other hobbies and commit fully to the game. So while he enjoyed trying other winter sports, he always came back to hockey. It would have been unlikely to become professional at biathlon for Edouard. There are so few people that get to earn a living in that sport that he would likely never have been good enough to be one of them. It did not make him too sad as he never truly loved it, merely enjoyed it from time to time. In an alternative timeline where Edouard committed to biathlon instead of hockey, he likely would have ended up in sports medicine or some other support position within the larger sporting community.

Option 1:

Leo gets flashbacks to when he was kid when he plays in outdoor games. There were many open ice rinks in Latvia and it was somewhere that he spent a lot of his time developing as a young player. He enjoys being able to play in winter classic games, and while the ice is never as good as it is in a controlled indoor rink, Leo feels like he has a bit of an advantage because he grew up playing a lot on uneven ice. One thing that Leo really likes about winter classics is the atmosphere it makes for the fans. It is such a different type of game day for them to be able to go to say a football or baseball stadium and watch the game. It’s something people don’t get to do often and Leo is proud to be one of the players that they are watching in this sometimes once in a lifetime opportunity

Option 2

Rashford always felt that he could be the next Eddie the Eagle.  The idea of flying majestically through the air, flying down a mountain, wind flowing through his hair.  But he realized that he didn't have what it takes.  Not because he couldn't ski (he's Finnish, family lore states he was born on the slopes.  What he didn't have was the spunk, the certain aura around him that would allow him to fly.

What he really wanted to try was speed skating.  The idea of literally strapping some long knives onto his feet and going as fast as he can just sounded so appealing.  When he was a young lad, he'd head out to the closest frozen fjord, strap on his skates, and just go.  There was something so special about just skating for many many kilometres in a row without having to turn around. You could just keep going and going and never have to stop.  Wind at your back, it was the most surreal experience.  So that would be what Rashford would swap to if he had to

Growing up in England, Jarrod Lakemore was drawn to the ice at a young age. He always felt at home there and was a natural on skates. Even before he took up hockey, he loved to just go to the rink and skate around. If it hadn't been for hockey, Lakemore would have pursued other things on ice. Though he is fairly agile, he doesn't quite have the right body for figure skating. More likely Lakemore would have pursued something like speed skating. Lakemore is one of the faster skaters in the SHL, but certainly could have improved his speed even more with extensive training. Although Lakemore perhaps wouldn't be one of the best in the world, he certainly could have been one of the best in England as they aren't exactly rife with skaters. Lakemore would have been good enough to participate in qualifiers for the national team and at the peak of his career could have reached his ultimate goal of making it to the olympics.

P1: Tony grew up playing hockey outdoors, where the ice was bumpy, the goals were boots, and the Zamboni was a shoveled path his dad insisted wasn’t crooked. Playing in the Winter Classic brings him back to those days of losing pucks in snowbanks and blaming missed shots on “sun glare.”

Sure, some people think these outdoor games are just a cash grab. Tony? He thinks it’s a chance to freeze his butt off in style. He’s excited to trade his heated locker room for a tent and relive the glory of frostbite as a bonding experience. Plus, there’s nothing like dodging wind gusts and occasional snowflakes to spice up a power play.

If Tony could pick, he’d face a rival team at an amusement park. Imagine taking faceoffs next to a roller coaster while fans scarf down overpriced funnel cakes. And yes, he’d demand an endless supply of gabagool in the locker room—because even legends need their fuel.

Written Option 1:
Playing outdoor hockey games is a very familiar concept for Gordon William Gibbles. Having grown up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, they have many memories of playing outdoors on local ponds with their friends as well as going to watch his father play in SHL Winter Classics. The latest Winter Classic is special to Gordon William as it is being held in Minnesota and they decided to host an alumni game between the Monarchs and Syndicate. This would be the first time both GW Gibblles and Collin Gibbles would don the same Minnesota Jersey to play hockey. It gave GW Gibbles a chance to feel like a kid again watching his dad play hockey one more time in the Minnesota Green. While the SHL game against the Syndicate may not have been as impressive or star studded, being able to step out into the stadium in front of the fans means the world to Gibbles as he managed to find the back of the net.

Prompt 2

Djoe Anderson is a man of many talents, one might call him a Djoe of all trades, you see he's always been fascinated by every sport out there, Cross country skiing? he's done meets on that. hundreds of kilometres are a part of his training regimen in order to keep himself limber and fit for the hockey he plays. He's played in many outdoor hockey open tournaments and placed very high in all of them, mind you most of them are just local pickup tournaments but he still performs his best in those as you want to teach the locals who the real pros are. Downhill ski jumping is probably one of his best skills though, as he has the form and grace of a swan, he never fails to go the distance and show off his masterful technique and prowess on the ski jump. Sometimes he even ends up placing gold (1 in 22 attempts.)

Written Option 2: Gwendolyn's got a basic grasp of snowboarding, but this often comes from her occasional visits in the Alpes when she grew up. They were a few days trip away, but her family at the time was well off enough to take several weeks off at a time. She's always loved the rush and excitement of sliding down massive slopes with stunning mountain views, and it's something she plans to pursue even further living in Edmonton with the stunning views here. She's heard that industry is large anyway... Otherwise, nowadays Gwendolyn spends so much time training that it's a bit difficult to entertain the idea of a several day vacation up in the mountains, or the camping that can accompany it. As for her skills... well, she isn't awful, but there's a reason she's playing hockey instead. There's a different sort of love for snowboarding that doesn't translate well into professional play.
