I think it you make media of any sort (full length or short films, other forms of visual art, etc) you're kind of locked in to making it unnecessarily more dramatic -- take medical dramas, for example. I think Violet would play the classic villain archetype in sports films (maybe without the part where those types beat up little kids or whatever they do): she would be some star player on an evil dynasty team that probably plays dirtier than they're allowed to, whom the refs don't whistle because they're too subtle or whatever. She would really embrace the role of being a 'bully' unnecessarily on and off the ice in an attempt to make the protagonist even more likeable for playing their cleaner, scrappy style as the perpetual underdog at multiple levels (regular season into the championship). Her character would definitely go from being a dominant force to either 1) getting suspended for something crazy or 2) being handily defeated by the hero's team in semi-realistic hockey style, with lots of slow mo shots to draw out the tension for critical parts of games.
Thanks @Amidships!

The film, named "Icebound Glory," is an entertaining sports comedy that prioritizes amusement over precision. The style is humorous and heightened, designed to attract a broad audience. Although the crew and actors have limited knowledge of hockey, Marian, serving as the hockey advisor, approaches his role earnestly and works to make the game elements as genuine as possible within the film's framework.
Marian welcomes the chance to be part of the movie, despite the low pay, as they view it as an opportunity to showcase his love for hockey to a larger audience. He is focused on ensuring the details are correct, from the players' actions on the ice to the precision of the hockey vocabulary utilized in the script. In their brief appearance, Marian acts as a coach in a pivotal game moment, providing an inspiring speech to the team in distress. His brief appearance acts as a crucial point in the film, enhancing the realism and trustworthiness of the hockey scenes. In summary, "Icebound Glory" is an enjoyable and amusing movie that blends the thrill of sports with the humorous aspects of a Hollywood film.

First of all, I come into the project knowing that their goal is to make money, as stated. So I'm not going to hardline to include anything or preserve and "feel" of the game. The best money makers are blockbusters and we have to play to our audience. The movie is going to be a whodunnit mystery surrounding the SHL draft. Yes, it will be hockey related, but the main storyline will be driven by the characters (coaches, agents, players) as they try to find out who the murderer is. Advertisements and commercials for the movie will play up the aspect of mystery and downplay the hockey. As for cameos, Beck will end up playing a clueless player who just keeps asking about his contract despite murder and intrigue swirling all around. The best part of the movie will be the reveal when they show that XXXXX is the true killer. That cameo will be jaw-dropping! Credit to enigmatic, Merica, tweedledunn, and jaypc8237 for sigs

Nothing Derek Martin does can be attributed to luck. His entire career was built on the back of hard work, dedication and meticulous care to his craft. Days and nights in the gym, on the ice, in the kitchen perfecting his diet. While the prodigal Mont St. Grégoire native may have slowed down in season 80, an uncharacteristic dip in on-ice form that can be attributed to many things, something hasn't changed and is unwavering : strong leadership. In a full and honest introspection of his place among the Los Angeles players, in the depth chart of the twice champion squad, he can recognize the rising talents and make way for their on-ice ability. Could the aging center keep up on the first line and in the first wave of the powerplay? Perhaps, not to the same level, but perhaps. But its time the young guns take the reigns of this team to usher it into its new age of contention. This is the feat, and while it might not be a highlight, consistency in leadership, in being a team-first guy, is something notable and worthy of recognition.

Our movie will be a spin off of MVP: Most Valuable Primate, where instead of a beloved monkey becoming a star hockey player, the studio is working with what they could get, and so a depressed and socially awkward meerkat becomes a hockey player. The movie will be called MVP: Meerkat Very Polite. The meerkat presents itself as very polite but really its just kind of quiet because of the depression and social anxiety. The movie tries to be everything MVP: Most Valuable Primate was - silly, action packed, family fun. Unfortunately, the meerkat stumbles and bumbles its way through the film, and not in the cute way. The scenes are cringe and/or boring. Unfortunately, the non-professional hockey players don't help matters much, as the on ice action is beyond not up to snuff. The one cameo Quazon Brosonchi received in this film was to utilize his speed in a scene where an opposing rival player speeds down the ice to win a puck battle. Quazon was so much faster than the other actors that the scene played very awkwardly in the film and further highlighted how no one knew what they were doing. (194)

Jacob Marsh was tasked with the impossible role of hockey advisor on an indie project titled "Threat Level Midnight", the script was solid as an action movie staring a secret agent Michael Scarn in his quest to save the world from a bomb from mysterious actors.
While Michael Scarn could skate, the logistics of setting up a believable hockey scene with a bunch of actors who've never played a meaningful game of hockey aside from lead actor Michael Scarn was next to impossible. It was almost a full week of training in the books and they were no closer to making a realistic hockey game. Marsh's character had a cameo as famed hockey instructor Cherokee Jack who taught Scarn all he knows prior to the celebrity all star game in which Intel suggested the bomb was located in the puck. In the end the actors didn't learn to play a convincing hockey game and decision was made (poorly) to interrupt a high school championship game for the shots needed. The home team was disqualified and it was a mess to say the least. That may be Marsh's last foray into Hollywood for a long time.

This in no way could ever be a movie. You see, the Atlanta Inferno are playing a normal every day game at home against Hamilton, but oh no! A terrorist has disguised themselves as the Atlanta mascot and are planting a bomb in the arena! Paul Bondage, being the undercover super hero he is, senses this and has to sneak away during the game to find the culprit. He and the mascot have a vicious, fight to the death in the arena's kitchen. This involves a very silly, but bloody fight in which the mascot is sliced to pieces by a deli meat slicer, and then stuffed into a small oven. He finds the bomb and in what could NEVER be in a movie, cuts the wire to disable it in the nick of time. He races back down to the ice in time for his final shift where he scores the game winning goal. The crowd erupts, everyone stands and claps, and Paul Bondage is forever known as the unsung hero, but for reasons they will never know. WC: 180

Overall, I think that Ju-gong would just be happy that people are using their film careers to do something with hockey, even if it’s not their main objective. If offered to come help on set, he would be a mostly passive figure, letting the professionals do what they do, and not trying to complicate an already complicated job with too many interjections. For the most part he wouldn’t mind the little things being missed. A close offsides not being called, improper swaps, way too much hitting, but there would be a few places he would speak up. Powerplays that look like 8 on 2’s, frequent goals from center ice, a total disregard for icing and everything that goes along with it. Aside from the most egregious things, he would be content to let the film makers have their creative freedom. I think for a cameo scene, something where a young protagonist is on a local ice sheet or frozen-pond, and has a montage trying to score on the SHL goalie where they finally get one in before nightfall is a nice, generic, heartwarming moment Ju-gong would enjoy suiting up for.

I cannot believe they asked me to do this, but I told them I would, so here I am . I don't know how "Ice Bud 4 - The Buddy Bud Movie" is going to work, or how to get a team of sled dogs to ice skate, but the history goes: the ice sled dog team beat the Alaskan hockey team 14-5 right before they played the Detroit Falcons. So, the first thing I do is get the prop guys to put the dogs on sleds, and make sure they stay safe. I don't want the same problems "AIr Bud" had, they went through so many dogs.... it's sad. Anyway, The aim was a family comedy, but the dogs are not happy, so the powers that be have decided that it is going to be a drama? Man this movie is going to be tough. Anyway, I get to play the ref, and I basically spent the total time pushing the dogs around while they nip at me. The director kept saying "WE WILL FIX IN POST ON TO THE NEXT SCENE" ... The tank of sharks and motorcycles have me really concerned... Colorado Raptors Capitan S42-Until Forever! Czechia Wants you! Ask about a transfer!!

Task 2
Tentacles and the Argonauts had one of the greatest shorthanded goals of all time in the January 27th Matchup against the Toronto North Stars. Already up 2-0 at the beginning of the second period Pinli Switchbang would head to the box for a roughing to put the Argonauts on the penalty kill. Toronto would win the faceoff and establish a quick cycle and fire a far side shot on rookie goaltender Bishop Van Apeldoorn which he would swiftly make the save. The loose puck bounces out towards Olivija Agate and a Toronto winger, the 5'7 Agate would drop to hip check the opponent and lay a massive hit which would see the Toronto forward fly over her and onto the ice. A quick pass from Agate springs Squidwardo Tentacles and Shadow Fenix onto a 2 on 2 situation shorthanded. As the near side Toronto defender pinches to try to lay a big hit against Squidwardo, he would drop the shoulder and reverse hit the defender and breaking it into a 2 on 1 situation with long time linemate Fenix. The second Toronto defender slides along the ice to try to prevent a pass across, but Tentacles tries a bold move and fires a saucer pass from between the legs over the sliding defender, straight to a wide open Shadow Fenix who easily picks the top right corner and cleanly beats the goaltender off a rocket of a one-timer shot reminiscent of Alex Ovechkin. ]

Option 1: Truthfully, the hockey movie I'd like to see get made is one following just a total asshole - think the worst sort of arrogant, douchebag athlete, blessed with incredible skill and absolutely no desire to act like a productive member of society - whose career abruptly ends after getting a brutal injury, and which sees him have to try to make his way in the world of the sport having alienated tons of people and burned most of the bridges built along the way. Maybe somebody takes pity on him, puts him back on the straight and narrow, and he spends his time making amends to all the folk he was a prick to, like a cross between My Name Is Earl and Slap Shot. Either way, it might not win the Palme d'Or but it's a story potentially with some legs on it. Simo's cameo would be brief but literally punchy: appearing right at the beginning of the film, the protagonist dekes Simo out of his skates, scores and gets right in Simo's face so nearly sparking a brawl.

Jussi Mutou would have a cameo role in the new Romantic comedy of the summer “Pucked Up”. The movie stars Noah Centineo as Kevin “Burnsy” Burns, a star hockey player in the SHL. He plays opposite to Katie Williams, played by Joey King. The movie follows the usual romcom format where the two actors have a classic meetcute after one of Burnsy’s games. Unlike most sports related romcoms, this one unfortunately features a lot of hockey. I say unfortunately because the entire cast and crew has never even watched a game of hockey in their life. So the initial script has a lot of hockey inaccuracies such as Centineo’s character standing next to the opposing goalie for a pass while the puck is in his own defending zone, as well as his character stepping onto the ice in the middle of play with no visible line change occurring.
Mutou did his best to try and change the script so it wasn’t so inaccurate, but James Cameron insisted this “would really ramp up the drama”. Jussi plays a small cameo role as the teams trainer. When Centineo takes a big hit after scanning the crowd for Joey King’s character in the climax (she was on a plane to somewhere far away), Jussi helps treat his injury. Both the physical one, as well as the one to his heart. He manages to convince Centineo to abandon the game in progress and chase down the love of his life, managing to reach the airport just as she’s about to board the plane. How did he get past security? Idk I’m not a script writer. |
