Greetings SHL community,

It has come to the attention of SHL Head Office that during games streamed from 12/18/2024 to 01/03/2025, the Seattle Argonauts played with illegal lines that had two crease-clearing defenseman in their lineup.

This goes against Section 2, Subsection G, Rule 3 of the SHL Rulebook:

Quote:Submitted team lineups must be compliant with the following roster restrictions:
a. Maximum of 1 Enforcer or Goon per lineup.
b. Maximum of 1 Agitator per lineup.
c. Maximum of 1 Crease-Clearing Defenceman per lineup.
d. Maximum of 1 Shadow per lineup.
e. Maximum of 3 players per every other role not listed above.

HO has voted to issue the following punishment:

Seattle's GM's @efischermann and @Ohtaay will be fined their full S80 GM salary.

We are following precedent from the SFP Illegal Lines punishment of S58, but have increased the fine due to the prolonged timeframe of the infraction.

As always, the Seattle GMs have 48 hours to send an appeal request to any head of the appeals committee, currently consisting of @DrunkenTeddy and @Leafs4ever.

What other punishment would you suggest? Taking TPE away from the players who had no idea they were being played that way? Totally breaking with precedent and slapping the team with a cap fine and picks even though no other team has been punished that way for this offense?

To be fair it was my own player, too. I thought hey this crease clearing role seems to work well for our other defense first player I will do the same for my own guy. I should have double checked the restricted roles obviously because clearly we were not allowed to do that. I truly believe that 1 3rd line player playing a restricted role did not make that big a difference but we will never know and I hate that our season now has an asterisk on it and that our GMs took the fall for my error.
