(Local News Cast-Lima City Sports Network-Hunter Cross Pre-Draft Interview)

*As Hunter sits down across from the LCSN caster he realizes that this interview could change the rest of his life.

LSCN Caster - “Ladies and Gentlemen one and all today we have somewhat of a local star. Hunter Cross was a star forward for Lima High School before graduating this year. How are you doing today Hunter?”

Hunter Cross - “I'm doing good, I am really excited to see what this weekend holds for me and my family.”

LSCN Caster - “Hunter your team the Lima City Hawks was on a heater at the end of the season, fighting to get into the playoffs. Is there anything you guys did to create the outcome you ultimately attained?”

Hunter Cross - “There were a lot of things we did, we fixed our little mistakes and changed our mindset. Being out on the ice is a constant mental battle with yourself. You have to remember all of those things that coach taught us in practice.”

LSCN Caster - “I believe a big part of your team's success was their scoring. Hunter, your team set a new school record for most goals in a season by almost 50. Do you think your ‘pass first’ mentality helped achieve this goal?”

Hunter Cross - “I think it was the team as a whole, we played like a well oiled machine this year. No matter where I threw the puck this year I knew I could trust my teammates to get a stick on it.”

LSCN Caster - “Alright that's enough about the past, what are you looking forward to in the future especially with the draft this weekend? Do you have any hopes that you’ll crack the top 30?”

Hunter Cross - “I'm hopeful that a team will take a chance on me, we're a smaller school in a rural area but I know I have a lot that I can bring to the table whether that be on the ice or off it.”

LSCN Caster - “Setting expectations in reality I like it! Are there any teams you would be interested in receiving the nod from?”

Hunter Cross - “I would love to stay close to home so my family could watch me play but I know that things rarely work out that way. At the end of the day I’ll be happy anywhere as long as it means I have a shot at getting back on the ice!”

LSCN Caster - “Again an excellent mindset Hunter, with the draft being this weekend have you had a chance to look into other draftees? It looks like the draft class of 81 is loaded with talent. Are you excited to potentially see some of these names across the ice from you?”

Hunter Cross - “Hell yes! Getting the chance to show up on draft day alongside these players is an honor and it will be a great feeling if I get the chance to play them.”

LSCN Caster - “Hunter most mock drafts have Wal Rus going top 5, how do you feel about this?”

Hunter Cross - “All I can say is they earned it, a phenomenal player on and off the ice. They are exactly what you want in your star player at this level; it doesn't get much better than what they have done these last few years!”

LSCN Caster - “They are a generational talent for sure! Is there anyone else you are looking out for?”

Hunter Cross - “Of course there are a number of other players I have been watching for the last few years, one that really interests me is Harland Sanders. Kid plays with some real grit, he leaves it all out on the ice every time he steps out there. He's dangerous with and without the puck which I believe will generate a lot of interest.”

LSCN Caster - “I've heard their play style is really unique and will guarantee at least a few looks from GM’s.”

LSCN Caster - “Well Hunter that's just about all the time I have, I wish you and your family well and I wish nothing but the best for you this weekend! Goodluck!”

Hunter Cross - “Thank you!”
