3. +1 TPE. To spice up the new all-star format even further, I would add in a competition between teams for total points. How this would work is that each player you got selected to the all-star game would be earning points for your SHL team. The team whose players scored the most combined points would earn recognition as the Team of All-Stars. (60)
8. +4 TPE. My wonderful fellow Detroit Falcon teammate @Kami1931 AKA Twinkle Toes made the all star cut this season, and he definitely deserves the recognition. He's done excellent work this season as an assistant in the management department and, if the rumors are true, is churning out scouting spreadsheets like you wouldn't believe. Behind the scenes aside, his player Twinkle Toes is certainly an effective blue liner who keeps getting better. Its interesting to compare his stats from year to year, especially since between his rookie and second year, there is only about a two minute time on ice increase. During his sophomore season, Twinkle Toes scored 15 goals and 17 assists for a total of 32 points. This exceeds his rookie debut, where he posted 7 goals and 19 assists for 26 points. Twice as much goal scoring as the year before is an increase every hockey player dreams of. Imagine what he could accomplish if he keeps up this type of improvement pace! In addition to his offensive prowess, his defensive skills are also worthy of praise. One area where this stands out is his take aways, where he is tied for second on the team with 52. There is no doubt Twinkle Toes will only continue to improve, and his appointment to the all-star team is very well deserved. (220)

Big changing of the guard this season in LA. I'm so happy that Oliver Castillon is getting his time to the spot light. He finished inside the top 25 for points this season, along with one of his wingers, Andren Akerson. Oliver had been stuck behind a very deep and talented roster for a while. This season he led the Panthers in goals, points, and had a healthy ratio of takeaways to giveaways. He is ready to carry a heavy chunk of LA's offense going forward. I expect him to be a sneaky good player in the allstar expo. Since he wasn't at the tippy top of the scoring this season, he'll probably be a little lower on the depth chart, poised to surprise people who don't expect much.

Oh boy, I love this kind of stuff. I don't have a specific criteria I want to use for players filling this role in the future. Instead, I'm going to pitch some players I would like to see. First of all, Nathan Russell. Russell was one of the players I consider to be a prototypical power forward from the STHS days. As far as power forwards go, he was a little more on the offensive side, with his physical play being more secondary. I believe he had a legitimate case for a Mexico nomination in season 31, but sadly it didn't happen.
Next! I want Brian Morley! I like Morley. He's an under appreciated player, probably because his peak was a bit on the shorter side. From in seasons 23 and 24 there were very few forwards as good as him in both scoring and physical play. He wasn't really a big hitter for most of his career, but in S24 he was a force on the ice. On top of that, in season 22 he led the league in goals and points, then he led the league in goals again in season 24. Sadly, he didn't end up winning the Mexico in his career.

2. Do you like the new format? Why or why not?
3. What would you do to spice up the new All-star format even further?
4. Which of the teams can field the best first line, first pair or goalie tandem? What makes them the best?
5. Who are the most unexpected players taking part in the event? Why?
6. Who do you think should be captain of each team? Why?
7. What would be your starting lineup, 3 forwards, 2 defencemen and a goalie for one of the SMJHL conferences?
2. I'll reserve any full judgments until I see how it plays out but I always like a new take on existing events. If it is the same old same old, it can get boring like in the real NHL. I remember when their All-Star games were fun and engaging and now players try to avoid it so they switched it up with the Four Nations Cup. I think this is a similar thing here. Hoping for an exciting turnout! (79 words, 1 TPE)
3. If I could spice up the All-star format even further, I would look towards maybe incorporating real all stars skills challenge and commentary! I believe this was done before in the past and it really stuck out to me but I don't know what happened and how the turnout was, but coming from me I truly enjoyed seeing the players on ice! (62 words, 1 TPE)
4. If the teams were in their peaks, the answer likely changes, but considering the slow and old all-stars will not be playing top line minutes, I think the scariest lineups have to be the Pacific team as they have elite playoff sniper in Logan Webb as well as many notable, and recent, Challenge Cup Champions on that team that are right in their prime. (64 words, 1 TPE)
5. I think the most unexpected players taking part in the event comes from the Central Division in their hall of famers. Like the names of Ron Mexico, Jason Visser, and Alonzo Garbonzo are arguably the most veteran names of the hall of famers participating, with two of them having awards named after them making their appearances an unexpected surprise! (59 words, 1 TPE)
6. With respect to the captains of each team, it is hard to give it to a current player when we have hall of famers in the mix. So I imagine each team would name one of the hall of famers a captain starting with Bojo Biscuit in the Atlantic, Aaron Wilson in the North East, Ron Mexico in the Central, and Esa Anrikkanen in the Pacific. (66 words 1 TPE)
7. Considering I said that he Pacific have the scariest lineup, let's put together their first line of Dominik Winters, Logan Webb, and Oskar Scholz. This is a San Francisco Pride line and we know it works so no point in shaking things up. Similarly, on D we can have Elena Maximova with Willow Soderberg-Snooks, the defensemen of the Los Angeles Panthers. Lastly, I'll have veteran Justin Time starting in the net. (71 words, 1 TPE)
With leading point score Xavier Beausoliel being selected to represent the Patriotes, we need to look closely at their roster to find other worthy candidates.
The easy choice could be someone like Jussi Mutou who led the team in goals with 29, which accounted for nearly 13% of their goal scoring totals on the season.
Another option could be Charlie Slurpe, who had 29 goals and led the team with 5 game winning goals.
However, my choice for Montreal would go to Rodrigo Barnes. Playing in just his fourth SHL campaign, his scoring totals might not jump out at you. But as the only positive player (+7) on a team whose goal differential was -61, I'd say that was an impressive feat worthy of an all-star nod.
Minnesota
Like with Montreal, Minnesota's highest scorer, Kevin Kim, was ultimately selected as their lone representative. Unlike Montreal, finding a secondary candidate isn't as easy.
For this one, I've gone with one of their elder statesman in long-time Monarch Julian Florsch. Playing in his 12th season, all in Minnesota, he's a fan favourite and deserves a trip to the ASG for a bit of fun after enduring a tough campaign in the "State of Hockey".
As for who I think should be dropped from each team....in the Central, all three of Winnipeg, Texas and New Orleans have 5 players each. Nothing against any one from those teams but I'd just pick someone at random.
I wouldn't change my strategy much with the North East division. Except this time, instead of picking from three teams I'd drop a player from Buffalo who are sending 6 players.
Hello from Edmonton. I hope things are going well for you and Tato back home in Kramatorsk. I know that we do talk quite regularly, what with all of the fancy technology that exists these days. I mean, it's not like international phone calls haven't been available since the 1960s or anything.
With that being said, you might be wondering why I'm writing you a letter in the first place. I just thought it would be a nice thing to do and also a good opportunity for myself to practice my English writing (which is highly counterintuitive since you can't read English at all and will have to find someone in town to translate it for you).
I digress. The offseason has been short for me. With playing in the IIHF tournament for the first time with Czechia, I haven't had as much downtime as I normally would. Unfortunately, we fell short of our expectations as we did not progress into the playoff round. After competing in the Bronze medal game last season, we had hoped we could take another step and win a medal this time. Not so much.
It has just been that kind of year for me. Nothing has seemed to go my way. I try not to beat myself up too much but I haven't played as well as I know I can and I feel like I am letting my teams down. I really wanted to have a big second year with the Blizzard but all of my stats dropped from my rookie year. Maybe I am trying too hard or clutching my stick too tight as they say. I know that if I play better than it is better for my team as a whole, whether it's with Edmonton or Czechia. When we don't play well I can't help but think that the results are directly my fault. I know that isn't fair to myself but it's just how I'm feeling at the moment.
It would be nice to be able to come home and see you both, to just relax and take my mind off of hockey for a little while. Of course, we know that isn't possible, especially with next season fast approaching. Before you know it we will be at training camp and playing preseason games.
Maybe the experience of playing on the world stage will be good for me. I already play with some incredible players in Edmonton, but being out on the ice with a champion like Dominik Winters really shows me what it takes to succeed. One thing is for sure, I'll take the lessons I've learned playing with Czechia and apply them to my game for next season and have a better year.
I'll leave it at that for now. I've only recently arrived in Edmonton so I'll use whatever downtime I have left to try and wind down before S81 starts ramping up. Nothing too exciting planned though. Probably meet up with a few of the players from the team and hang out, do some things around the city. I've got some commitments with the animal societies as well, which is always a treat as I get to go and hang out with some truly good people and of course see all of the animals.

3. What would you do to spice up the new All-star format even further?
The best way to spice of the All-Star game is to have a proper skills competition held in tandem with the game just like in real life. How would we make that work? I have no clue whatsoever unfortunately. But can you imagine how cool it would be to have some way of seeing how the top players in the league stack up with one another like that for at least one night. Most players have the same build, so this would serve as one of the few ways to see them go head to randomized head in some cool skills.

6. Who do you think should be captain of each team? Why?
For the Atlantic team it has to be Tony Soprano. He is the all-time leader in gabagool per sixty in the SHL. His raging intensity is contagious and inspires or intimidates every player around him. He runs the show.
For the Central, I would go with Alonzo Garbonzo. The dude is the greatest SHL defenseman of time and game recognizes game. We all know that defenders are the true heart and soul of any team. Let the dude who can score and shut down the other side lead.
For the North East, I would give it to Xavier Beausoleil. Montreal has so little to be happy about. They only got one player voted into the All Star game. Let Montreal fans feel some happiness for once and give them a captain.
For the Pacific, let’s go with Justin Time. Goalies never get a chance to shine in the leadership role and it would be funny to see a goalie skate to center ice to try and argue with a ref.

2. Do you like the new format? Why or why not?
Agent Tesla: I have to be entirely honest with you here Interviewer in that I did not know the format was changing so I had to do some investigating to even learn what the new format was in comparison to the old format. Now having had a look I would say that personally speaking I like the new format because I like honoring more players where possible. Assuming the team sizes have stayed the same just doubled in number it does dilute the value of the recognition some which is a knock that I would imagine people have against it, but it is not so large a knock that I would say I dislike the format. That said if it does double the number of players recognized I would personally love to see them rewarded as first, second, et cetera line so that the value of the recognition is instead refined rather than diluted. Though I know that would be a lot more work which may not be worth it given limited elbow grease in the league, however I do think in an ideal world where we can all do all the tasks perfectly that the division of the teams by lines for recognition sake would be something I would like to see. That way we get the best of both worlds with more players getting the opportunity and those who put up truly terrific performances getting greater recognition.

3. What would you do to spice up the new All-star format even further?
Agent Tesla: Well I feel like I kind of accidentally answered that question a bit in my previous answer, but outside of line recognition I would say the best way to spice up the new All-Star format would be to include All-Stars in more subjects. Maybe we do not just collect the greatest players of simulated hockey from the league together, but go through the effort to discover say best dressed, most creative, hungriest, best hugger, et cetera and give them some time to show off their talents in between periods.
Generic Interviewer A: Are you suggesting that the way the league can spruce up the format is by adding the equivalent of senior superlatives as intermission entertainment for the games?
Agent Tesla: When you put it that way it admittedly does not sound like such a good idea, but thankfully I just had a brilliant epiphany! Hockey Z-9!
Generic Interviewer A: Hockey Z-9 the strangely modified game of hockey as played by the children of Phineas and Ferb during an intermission?
Agent Tesla: Exactly! The twist we add to it though is that we will have the mascots play alongside a group of children. If a team did not send any players their fans get first dibs on one of the children line slots, but we make a double sized team using the mascots and children for a rousing game of Hockey Z-9 during intermissions!
Generic Interviewer A: You know what I think we're interviewing the wrong person cause I am pretty sure that is not a reasonable answer.
Agent Tesla: No it is not, but I am an eldritch planeswalker so none of my answers are! I also know next to nothing about hockey so the only reason I can believe the league sent me of all people for this interview is because they hate you specifically.
Generic Interviewer A: You run one article on ref bias and this is how the league reacts.
Agent Tesla: It be like that sometimes.

4. Which of the teams can field the best first line, first pair or goalie tandem? What makes them the best?
The best first line would be Ron Mexico-Chris Valentine - Jason Visser. Ron mexico, well that is an obvious choice. He has an award name after him. The other two i remember from their past and they wreaked havoc amongst everyone in their prime. There were other noticeable great forwards like Esa and Randy but I had to go with the trio i named above. Thus, CTL are the clear winners here in terms of forwards. Their defensive pairing is also elite. It would feature Alonzo Garbanzo and Ho Lee Smokes. Garbonzo was touted as one of the best defenders ever in the SHL and if I am not mistaken, he has reached one of the highest tpe ever. The goalie would evidently be Anthony Dionne, who is a great keeper and won many golds for team Canada. Overall, i think this team is a little overpowered and would smoke the rest of the teams chosen just because they have powerhouses on their side.

Minnesota and Montreal only got one player selected to the tournament, despite there being two more teams than there has been in the past. Pick a player from either of the teams that you think should have made it, or would be the best option if we wanted to ensure each team has more than one player taking part in the event. And who would you remove from the team to make room for them? Would you consider it a swap that should be done or do you agree with the all-star committee and think that even the second best option is a bit too far from the player that made it into the team?
I mean Montreal is a pretty underwhelming team. For a team that has such high tpe players, they performed poorly. Rightfully so, only one player should have been picked and thus Beausoleil was that person. It is crazy to think that team with many 1000+ tpe players performed tragically. The coaching staff definitely needs to be fired or go under heavy tutorial on how to better their lines. Or it could have been a strategy of theirs to perform poorly for better draft picks. Only time will tell here. From Minnesota, the second worst team in the league during the regular season, kevin Kim was the obvious choice and he was selected since he was the points leader. If i had to pick another player, it would have been Florsch, as he had 73 shot blocks and 135 hits as a forward which is pretty decent for an abysmal team. He played great defensively. As a result, i think the committee did well in only choosing one player from these teams as both teams are pretty terrible in terms of performance at the moment. Actually if it was up to me, I would even abolish the rule of selecting at least one from each team and would have even skipped on Beausoleil and Kim. There were players here that deserved more to be on the all star and couldn't because players from these 2 teams had to be chosen.
