2. Unironically, I'm a big fan of it. It's a fun tweak on the standard "conference vs. conference" stuff and does something we can but the real NHL obviously can't by bringing back legends of the game from seasons past; imagine being able to do that with the NHL and having Teemu Selanne picking up passes from Connor McDavid. (61 words, 1 TPE)
5. I don't know who was responsible for picking the various teams but as surprise entrants go, probably my boy Simo. Nothing about the Simo game lends itself naturally to an All-Star Game and even accepting he played a lot of time for probably the league's biggest surprise package, his numbers aren't amazing. I'm grateful to see it happen - god knows if I can't get anything out of the milestones he should get some acknowledgement somewhere for being a dedicated follower of defense - but it's not at all a natural inclusion. Thanks committee! I hope to see Simo blast one of the Hall of Famers through the glass. (114 words, 2 TPE)
9. I thought I'd have to dig into this a bit more to find a justification for swapping out a player but it's not actually that hard. Kevin Kim was obviously the best player on the Monarchs and if every team was mandated to have an entrant I don't think anybody even comes close, but for Montreal I think there's at least as much of an argument for boosting Jussi Mutou onto the ASG squad as there is keeping Xavier Beausoleil. Yes, Xavier finished top of the Patriotes scoring charts but while he beat Mutou by 8 points, Mutou scored 8 more goals than Xavier and I'm more inclined to reward a winger for goalscoring than assists, especially because there's no easy way to tell how many of those assists were things that set up concrete goalscoring opportunities as opposed to those where Xavier passed to a teammate who did the hard work for a second teammate to score. On top of that, look a bit deeper and Jussi is better defensively - not great, but on one of the league's bottom-feeding teams he led them in Corsi% and made it above 50% as well. I don't know if I'd necessarily swap them but there isn't a lot of clear water between either. (222 words, 4 TPE)
2. Do you like the new format? Why or why not? If I am understanding the new format correctly, there are more players for the All star roster and some old players are returning for the all star games? Which if that is the case I have to say I am not a big fan of that idea. First of all it is the All STAR roster, the best of the best, if the roster keeps getting bigger, well, being the "best" does not really matter as much, one just has to be "good enough". As for Hall of Fame players returning I am particularly against this idea, the All Star roster is for the current best of the league, the hall of fame players are already immortalized in, well the hall of fame. If the hall of fame players were to be its own separate event, two teams comprised entirely of hall of fame players that would be another story, and it would not interfere with the current roster. 159 words, +3 TPE, 6/8 Total.
8. Written, 50 to 200+ words. The Teammate One Mel Goulla made the all star roster in the SMJHL, and he is the most obvious pick for Kelowna's player. He is the best performing forward on the team currently, despite not being the highest TPE forward on the team. The other players that could have been selected for the all star roster are either Jauhnne Hawky, who despite having the highest amount of TPE on Kelowna has had disappointing career to say the least, or players like Jordan Lafrenière and David Corrigan, both of whom also had very strong seasons but are still rookie players and would more than likely have a difficult time during the all star games. 110 Words, +2 TPE, 8/8 Total.
I think the new format is interesting and it's definitely more interesting than your standard game. It used to feel like the pro-bowl where it was just another feather in the cap of an already good season. The new format gives teams a little more to play for and I think it promotes investment rather than just another game.

To spice it up even further? We could take the best players from every nation and have a round robin tournament. The top teams then go into an elimination round until one nation is crowned the winner. Perhaps that should be called something other than the All-Star Game though. We might even create a separate federation. I think it would be cool to see which nation is the best though. It would allow even more players to participate and give players a sense of pride in where they play. We could add or remove nations as we see fit too. Just from the tournament, not like, remove them.

Dear Elvis,
So my plans have dramatically changed over the off-season. Initially, I was going to pack up and go home. I just didn't have the motivation to play anymore. I had cleaned out my locker and said goodbye to Montreal. It was a decent city. I was at the airport getting ready to return to Malta when my phone rang. Aleks just wanted to ask what the heck I was doing. When I told him, he offered me another chance to play in Hamilton. My motivation was still lacking so I was honest, telling him that my head just isn't in the game much these days. He wasn't concerned. Told me that if it doesn't work out then it's no big deal but he was willing to offer me a spot for another season. I felt like a bit of a liar after telling my previous team that I was done and here I am signing for another team but that's just the way the dice landed. So I will not be returning to Malta just yet. I'm going to give it one more go and see how things work out. So my plans are now just traveling me getting a ticket to Hamilton to start training again. This may lead to something bigger or it may just be the last gasps of my disappointing career. Time will tell. Give my best wishes to Fluffy.
To my parents I love you deeply and I know my season did not go as I wanted it to go. I will not stop preparing for everything I possibly can. So I’m very excited to get a vacation planned with you guys and my sister. Now the question is where are you guys wanting to go. Don’t worry I’ll pay for it no matter what’s I’m just wondering where you guys are wanting to go. I’ve had a few ideas for some peaceful time for just us. I’m hoping we can go to the Lakes of Iceland to get some peaceful time away from the city and get some quality time spent. There are some other ideas such as the Alps of Switzerland. That’s also a good preferable spot we could go snowboarding and skiing as well. I know my off-season plans as far as my workouts will be held off until after our vacation, but for a few months I know I’m going to be on my gym regimen for well over half of it. I do have to do some studying and some mental ability training so my mind is moving faster than my body. As far as I know I won’t be doing many cheat meals, but I can have one from time to time whenever I do visit during the offseason.
My team mate Xavier Beausoleil made the S80 SHL all star game and there is no better player to have made that team from the Montreal Patriots. Beausoleil is a leader on and off the ice and has been a pivotal player for the Patriots to help begin to drive their switch from rebuilding team to contenders. His offensive talents are something that we all should model our game around, with his amazing puck handling and passing skills, he is constantly setting up his team mates and also being in the right position on the ice at all times. A future all star for many more seasons to come!

My player had an up and down seasons but remained cool and composure throughout the season and I believe that this earned him some awards and an all star nomination. In this case my player should have been an all star this season because he had a very well balanced season. By being snubbed from the all star team this season, he will use this as motivation for next season to be able to achieve his goals of helping his team win a champions cup, and in return will win awards and an all star nomination. It will be an exciting next few seasons to watch my player.

I'm not sure, I think it's a bit weird to have legacy players be in the all-star game and take away valuable spots from other current players that could make the teams. I'm kind of neutral about it, not that I ever really cared about the all-star games in the first place in the past, outside of having a player from each team attend. In a more meta way, how are these hall of fame players added in FHM? Especially those that are from the STHS era, who dictates how their stats are spent? Seems to me that some of these teams might be one sided.

I think every All-Star team would look at their own hall of fame players to captain their teams. Most of the choices are pretty easy to make; Flacko Lagerfield, Ron Mexico, Aaron Wilson, Esa Anrikkanen would be my choices to captain these teams. I think the ATL team is pretty self explanatory, Flacko is a Tampa Bay legend although I could see Bojo Biscuit in the discussion as well. The CTL team has some strong candidates, Jason Visser as the best SHL player of all time but also Alonzo Garbanzo could be a good pick. The NTH team seems less top heavy, I think Aaron Wilson would win it here being the best FHM era player in the league. If goalies could wear letters, I think Elizabeth Doyle could be neck and neck here. And finally, for the PCF team, I think it's obviously Esa Anrikkanen to captain this team. The old timer broke all the records and set high standards for years for everyone else in the league.

Once again the Montreal Patriotes will be the only team to have a single player out of its roster in the upcoming All-Star game which is becoming the norm I suppose. Xavier Beausoleil made the cut and deserves it for sure. Joining the Patriotes in s77 as a free agent, he quickly rose and became a pillar on the front line of the young Patriotes team. With his career-high 21 goals, 53 assists for 74 points this season, he was the obvious pick for the Montreal Patriotes. He's bound to be in many more All-Star games in the future as the Patriotes team find their footing.

I think the new format is neat, and it seems that people are more interested in the All Star festivities this season than in seasons past. The inclusion of the legends players is super cool, and if we stick to this format those players could change in the future meaning that the All Star tournament doesn't really stagnate the way it seems the ASG previously had. Plus, a tournament is always more interesting than a single game, because there's more opportunity for you to really come out and shine as befits someone who's been named an All-Star. Of course, the number of All Stars is a bit inflated because of the added teams, but that's fine - wouldn't we rather see more people recognized for play that's worthy of the recognition? The people certainly enjoy being recognized. And there are lower odds of someone feeling like the obligatory single player from their team, so there's less potential disappointment. Tell me about your teammate who made the all star expo! Who are they, why were they an obvious choice to make the All Star roster, and what do you expect from them this ASE? (If more than one of your teammates made the game, pick one of those players other than yourself. If you are the only player on your team selected for the all star game so far, write who else should had been picked from your team.)
Jagrbomb! Morley and Celly making the roster is all well and good, as they were the team's leading scorers, but Manhattan wouldn't be able to do anything with Jaromir Jagrbomb. Defense is just as if not more important than offense when it comes to winning hockey games, and Jagrbomb manages to supply both to keep this team up and running- which is especially beneficial when you have glass cannons like Celeste and Mary Hollywood up front. Jagrbomb put up a hefty 44 points, which is phenomenally helpful when you consider just how much usage he got- coming in at a full 33 seconds more ATOI than any other player on the team. There was a new format for allstar? I guess I need to start paying attention to things in this league more, I guess it must be alright, haven’t heard anyone complaining about the system so it must be alright. But at the same time I didn’t see a problem with the old formatting but people are much more smarter than me so I’ll leave my trust in them. I had to go and look at the rosters, I do like that it offers more people the chance to make all-star rosters but I feel like some teams are going to be better than the others just because they will have more players that are better than everyone else, but with that said, they all star games are supposed to be fun so it’s really not that big a deal to have stacked teams, and who knows maybe one of the other teams will create a major up set and destroy one of the other teams.

I think the NTH will have the best first lines just because half the team are steelhawks and while I may be a little biased, our top line put up some impressive numbers this season even though we are smack dab in the middle of a major rebuild. So with that said, I think we have tons of potential on our team and when you combine that with the top talent from other teams in the conference, I believe we will be unstoppable, but only time will tell, so make sure you keep your eyes on the NTH team, especially those steelhawks! Particularly Trevor lahey ?
Prompt 2 (3): I don't know what you guys are talking about with liking the new format so I'll talk about the Championship Week and All Star Week format change with splitting the tasks into two different things. I really really hate it and think that I would really want it to go back into a combined post where I can do it all at once. I don't know if there was a change with the all star game but I imagine most people do not really watch it and mostly just look for the post that details the teams. Watching the sim is pretty horrible and so why would you do it for a meaningless game where the stats do not matter and no one in the real world cares about the all star game anyway. It is kind of interesting how every single league in sports just does not care about such a meaningless game, even the nomination is not worth much.
Prompt 5 (2): Literally every player in the all star game would be a surprise to me because I didn't know that it happened or is happening. I literally have no idea who any player is, how good they are, and how the team is chosen. I think I would only hear about it if someone on the forge was selected and it was posted about in the team discord, and there's a good chance I would miss it even then. I think the most surprising thing for me if I was ever selected because I keep track of my performance about the same amount of times I floss.
At first glace, yeah! It seems pretty fun, and the Pacific was kind of overpowered this season so it's to my benefit. Not that Viktor is participating at all anyway. I just like seeing my team and by extension my division do well. Go and kick some ass, my friends and rivals (who are also full of friends)!

Bring in the mascots! They all know how to skate already, so why not have them play a similar divisionally-split series against each other? Either that, or have them do a triathlon. Skating, running up and down the arena stairs, and t-shirt cannon sharpshooting. Winning division gets bragging rights and coupons to Chuck E Cheese. Who says no?

The Atlantic is absolutely filthy with scoring talent this season, so I'm going to go with that division. There's no such thing as defense in the All-Star game. They've got the literal top 3 in scoring for season 80. By some miracle they aren't all centers, so Jae-ik Barron would be flanked by Johnny Wagner-Svenson and Jiggle E Puff.

Ah, an opportunity to gush about my favourite player! The most unexpected player for this season for me is Oskar Scholz, though more in the sense that he performed better last season and didn't get in, because I think he should be there every year. I am shameless in my bias when it comes to Viktor's longtime linemate, and it's completely understandable when not many agree with said bias, but I'm pleased as punch that he's getting more recognition recently. Besides Oskar, I'm surprised that Justin Time continues to show up as the pile of bones that he is, and all of the old retired farts that came back from the dead.

6. Who do you think should be captain of each team? Why?

For the Atlantic, I'd like to see Cale Salad get a nod. The guy spent most of his career as a forward, and here he is making the All-Star game as a defenseman, and I think that deserves tons of recognition. For the Central division, a homer pick of Juan Tymer or Leo Roze would serve my goal to give props to defensemen, but it's kind of hard not to hand it to THE Ron Mexico. As for the Northeast, my reflexive answer is Pork Tenderloin. He feels like a perennial All-Star, is once again a defenseman, and dude is a cut of pork. I need to see them stitch a C onto a piece of sentient meat. For the Pacific? Goalie captain goalie captain! Dust for bones himself: Justin Time. I couldn't possibly manage not to give it to one of the best goalies of all time, plus maybe he can milk the C for some nap time. Time.
I hope this letter finds you well. As you probably saw from the season the New England Wolfpack just had, things did not exactly go as planned. I mostly blame our general manager Luke, but as embarrassed as I am that I requested a trade from Buffalo to chase cups and then they ended up doing better than New England did, I have to admit I was not nearly as good as I should have been. After all, I am 4’6” tall and approximately 350 pounds. I am considering canceling my sponsorship with Taco Bell and I think I will start eating right. I may hire a nutritionist and maybe even a trainer to teach me how to lift weights. I also heard about this experimental surgery you can get in Turkmenistan that lengthens all your bones and can add up to a foot of height. I would still be the shortest player in the league, but at least I wouldn’t be 2 feet shorter than most players on the ice. My only worry is how much it will be, as I have heard it can cost upwards of 200 thousand dollars. I spent all my contract money on Taco Bell.

I honestly think Luke should win some sort of legacy award for the league. He has put this damn website on his back and done so much for all of us. All this while also running a team and having quite a bit of success doing it. Perhaps we could call it something like “the Luke Award for guys who are really good dudes and also named Luke” and just award it to him every year since no one else really qualifies for it in this league, that I know of at least. He does a lot for the league though for real. He should be recognized.
