At this point in the season, you should be starting to get into the groove with your teammates. But it's not all about the chemistry when you're on the ice - it's the tunes you listen to in the locker room before you get out there that really help you bond.
Written Option: List 5 songs that are on your team's pre-game playlist, and tell us why they're played (150 word min.) Graphic Option: Design the album cover for a CD-version of your team's pre-game playlist. Has to include at least the team name and logo. You will receive 3 TPE for fulfilling all the requirements for any of the options. (You only need to do one of the options to get the credit and wont get additional credit even if you do more than one). Note that the wordcounter on the site can be inaccurate, if you want to ensure you reach the required wordcount you can use for example https://wordcounter.net/. All responses are due on Sunday, March 9th at 11:59 PST. NOTE: IF YOU SUBMIT/EDIT AFTER THE DEADLINE YOU WILL RECEIVE REDUCED/NO TPE. Reminder that Discord only hosts images for very limited time so you should use something else for hosting images. Pre-game need to have some blood-pumping music, so I imagine this is role for rock and metal music, which brings hockey atmopshere the best possible way:
1. Good Riddance - Darkest Days Simple, but energetic and heavily associate with NHL video games franchise. 2. Interpol - PDA Mechanic sound of drums and gloom sound of guitars and vocals with explosive instrumental outro rewards 5 minutes of dark sound. 3. Hidenori Shoji - Western Opening Known as intro theme from Yakuza 0 video game is great example of simplicity and powerfulness of Japanese pop-rock music. This title gives a lot of examples of great to fight music. 4. Battles - The Yabba It's very peculiar example, but song builds layer after layer to give in it's final moment melodic, powerful and specific coda. My favourite. 5. Andrew Sega - Dimension 2012 There's also space for IDM from the 90's demoscene era, where upbeat groove creates journey through many layers almost minimalistic sound. This is Yukon's locker room music and I hope boombox won't be kept out of my hands. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Koen Boekbinder has come over and really put his touch onto the playlist for the Great Falls Grizzlies. Especially with Koen being Dutch and loving EDM it is bound to show up a few times.
1. Tiësto - Traffic I mean can you start off a list of EDM for a Dutch player without Tiësto? Traffic has no lyrics and no frills. Just high octane head bobbing energy. Just early Tiësto setting the mood for the game. 2. Rawtekk - Snowflakes (Rawtekk Neuropop VIP) Ethereal, high BPM drum and bass with a bassline that is such a groove. Just gets you hyped to play. 3. John O'Callaghan - Big Sky (feat. Audrey Gallagher) I mean we had to add Big Sky for the Big Sky state of Montana? It's just a fun song and a great fit with the state. 4. Edward Maya, Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love Just one of the catchiest Eurodance/House songs of all time and while it's not exactly a HYPE UP song, it's just a real vibe. 5. Netsky - Smile Soulful, fresh drum and bass. Melodic and feel-good. Just overall such a damn great song. When Koen has the Aux it's bound to be a bit of a ride but he'll take you down his EDM rabbit-hole. [220 Words] ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Member

The Anchorage Armada lockerroom is always pumping the jams before games. Each player has their Playlist that they set for the games they are in charge of. The music starts just before pregame warm-ups, then you get one last song before you take the ice. This is the Playlist my player plays:
1. Put On by Young Jeezy- this song is the perfect song for players starting to put on their jerseys for the warm-up. It reminds us we are playing for the city of Anchorage. 2. Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne- Great rock song that gets me moving and ready to roll. 3. Bodies by Drowning Pool- is there any better song to get ready and go out and hit someone? After Pregame warm-ups and line up annoucement: 4. They not like us- Kendrick Lamar- new song that gets me ready to go! 5. Machine head by Bush- This one is the last song played before walkout. This is one i always remember from childhood and i always relate it to Hockey because the Blue Jackets would come out to it and I was always pumped for it. The VAN LR has quite the eclectic taste in music, so we all take turns playing music before games. It's hard to pin point a common theme between all of us, but we'll give it a try. I definitely prefer songs with a lot of energy behind them, that way I can rise myself to match them.
1. Hot To Go - Chappell Roan I mean, she's literally on the team, why would this not be on the playlist? 2. tv off - Kendrick Lamar Easy pick, good beat, has the juice to get people amped. Also, MUSTAAAAARRDDDD 3. I2I - Goofy Movie I'm a 90's kid. Fight me. This song is still a jam and it gets me amped. 4. Spaceman - Electric Callboy I'd put more Electric Callboy on here as they have a ton that I personally listen to daily. They always bring a ton of energy, regardless of the song, and it definitely gets me in the mood to go hit someone. 5. Violet - Connor Price I don't know what it is about this song, but it gets me moving. There were a lot of songs that could have been placed here at #5, but opted with this one because it just came on and reminded me that I like it! ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Member

While Toivo is more likely to defer aux responsibility to others as he likes to listen to just about everything and hear new music, on the rare occasion he does accept the great honor there wouldn’t be a specific vibe or genre the playlist follows.
Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry - This one has double meaning. First obviously for the great Johnny Gaudreau, has been played many a time in honor of him. Second is it’s a banger from STL native Chuck Berry. What better way to prep for hockey than listen to a banger from someone in the same city. No Mercy by KIT - Mostly chosen for the overall sound of the music, however the message fits to go play a physical game. “I am the one who’s taking joy in your pain, No Mercy.” Paradise City by Guns N Roses - all time good time classic, gets the group singing along and relaxed. Perfect for warm ups. Soda Pop Rock by Black Pontiac - Upbeat, good flowing song with a little bit of energy. Machine head by Bush: Similar reason here as @Prayl07 . Got his in before me, but just a classic song I relate to hockey as the Blue Jackets used it. Core memories. ![]() Registered Senior Member
Pre-game hockey music is all about hype and pumping up the team while we dress, so our playlist would be full of heavier songs and absolute certified bangers. The first song would be Sound of Madness by Shinedown. its an absolute banger, a classic 2000s hard rock song that I consider a classic hockey song. The second song would be Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World. Once again, another classic hockey song in my opinion. Its a certified banger and who doesn't remember it being in the soundtrack of NHL 2003? The third song would be Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails. Another banger in my opinion, Its an intense song that will pump us up and help us get ready to play. The fourth song is How You Remind Me bt Nickelback. Any respectable Candadian team will have some Nickelback in their playlist. Fifth and final song is Show me How to Live by Audioslave. Once again, its just a banger that will pump us up.

Yoshinobu is one of the quieter guys in the room, slowly coming out of his shell, but when he's given the AUX cord, it gets a little odd for the team...
Don't Stop Me Now - Queen: This is a fun song to both sing along to get the team going. Thankfully there's a grand piano in the locker room for us to try and play along with. Saturday Night's Alright (for Fighting) - Elton John: Great song to get the gang going, especially on a Saturday night, and especially to get our goonish primal nature going for our *checks stats* 2 fights all year. Dreaming - Smallpools: Yoshi's favorite song. Quite simply, it fires him up. He thinks you should check it out. Good Luck, Babe - Chappell Roan: Yoshi is big into karaoke, and this is a good way to get the room going. What better way to test the range of everyone's vocals before we hit the ice? Hitting a "WHEEL, WHEEL, WHEEL" at the same tenor of Chappell singing "babe" is unmistakable in the rink. Kill Them All (into In The Face of Evil) - Magic Sword: When it's time to lock in, this is Yoshi's favorite electronic instrumental vibe that feels like a brooding superhero about to get revenge for a city of victimized innocents. What better way to go into a game? ![]() Player Progression Director Member
Gainz is still a new addition to the Knights but when he is in charge of the aux before a game, these are 5 songs that you are for sure about to listen to:
1. Headlines by Drake - Great song to hype the locker room up, everyone knows the lyrics and that chorus hits hard. One of Gainz' favourite songs as well 2. Cinderella Man by Eminem - A solid motivational song that makes you want to keep pushing and fight for more 3. Lose Yourself by Eminem - Another solid motivational song, puts you into that mindset where winning is the only option with this team 4. HeadBand by B.o.B - A solid throwback hype song that gets everyone into a great mood and all pumped up and ready to face the opposition 5. A Milli by Lil Wayne - A hood classic here, gotta include a bit of Lil Wayne in the mix yktv ![]() Registered Senior Member
The pregame playlist for the Grizzlies is a finely curated set of only the best tracks to get the boys hyped and in the right state of mind. Here are the five songs that always come up on shuffle:
Make Way For The King - Ohana Bam. This one is an iconic self-confidence building song. If I ever want to feel better about myself, this is a go-to track for me. Song 2 - Blur. Pure energy pick. The guitar riff is classic, the “woo-hoo” is catchy as hell. It gets people going. Slam - Onyx. Let the boys be boys! (dut duh duh) I don’t feel like I really need to say anything more than that. The Underdog - Spoon. Specific to this season, we’re a team of rookies who get shelled from time to time. This song is our reminder that the underdogs are still in the game, ready to snatch the victory the moment their opponent slips up. Whoomp There It Is - Tag Team. Another energy pick. I think it’s about the moment of carnal release, but it makes the list because of its status as a jock jam classic, not for its lyrical content. ![]() Registered Junior Member

Edit Reason: Added many words

Hot To Go - Chappell Roan
Chappell would start out by playing a concert, with Hot to Go as the first song in the mix. She would get the team amped and stretched with the dance, flipping her hair and running around with her teammates, enjoying the cool air of the rink as the rest of the team follows along. Pink Pony Club - Chappell Roan Pink Pony Club comes next with a relaxing and vibe-setting moment for the team, giving them a sense of freedom to express themselves on the ice and really get into the spirit of the game! The guitar solo played by Florence and the team settling into the last verse of the song, Chappell laid down on the stage and smiled somewhere off in the distance as the song ends. Red Wine Supernova - Chappell Roan Encouraging the team to find someone to pair up with as their own Red Wine Supernova, she starts the song, the whole team celebrating and singing along to the chorus as the group of fans began to file in early, getting the last few minutes of the concert. She smiles, and shouts, "We'll get the job done, Whalers!" The Giver - Chappell Roan Launching into her newest song, Chappell starts dancing a quick line dance, pink cowboy hat atop her head as the violin plays through, and begins the song. With many a twirl, and a wink to the opposing team's goalie, the continuing theme pounds into their heads. This is a giver, folks. She smiles slyly as she prepares to score goal after goal. Good Luck, Babe - Chappell Roan With the last song of the night, she issues a challenge, more of a warning to the opposing team, wishing them good luck on their endeavours, however fruitless it may end up being. She gets the job done. ![]() Registered Member
The Knights locker room is always loud. We like to play high energy hockey, and it all starts in the dressing room. Loud heavy hits before the game translates to heavy hits and goal songs on the ice. Here is the pre-game playlist when Rawbie Gardner is in charge.
1. Mother - Danzig Hard to go wrong with a song that can get anyone going. Let’s do this for mama! 2. Don’t Damn Me- Guns and Roses A lesser known GnR song, this song hits hard and fast and has a ton of attitude. 3. The Dirt - Motley Crüe Gimmie the Dirt, give me all I want till it hurts! 4. Rowdy - Yellawolf This song is a bit more modern than the classic hard rock earlier in the playlist. It brings a low rumbling bass you can hear in your chest. 5.And just before we head out to the ice - Bodies by Drowning Pool. What better way to go out onto the ice than with a song that has a hard baseline and a visceral scream at the start. Let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the ERRRRaaaaghh!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Member
If the Citadelles get (un)lucky enough for me to get a hold of the music, we're gonna jam out to a totally incoherent mess of electronic hype-up tunes from any decade, such as:
The Touch - Stan Bush: This 80s banger makes every player feel like the hero of their own story, because when all hell's breaking loose, they'll be right in the eye of the storm. Feel the Love - Rudimental + John Newman: Any fans of Shoresy will already know how FLAWLESS the soundtrack is, but this tune playing over a great shinny montage in Season 4 will really drive home the hype of getting to play the game you love with the team you love. Witchcraft - Pendulum: I first heard this song years ago after trying to find out who sang on Ghosts n Stuff, and man, the drops in Witchcraft will make you slam on the accelerator, whether metaphorically in a hockey game or literally, if you make the poor decision to put it on during your drive to the rink. Heaven - DJ Sammy + Yanou + Do: A classic electronic masterpiece that gives you the kind of positive and uplifting fuel that burns clean. Money on the Dash - Elley Duhe + Whethan: This one is a bit different from the other songs on the list, but the relentless bassline and controlled energy is exactly what a team needs when they feel good and need to dial in and become precise hockey-playing machines. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SMJHL GM Member
So Gappy's list contains some classic rock music that can't go unnoticed. He starts off with a banger from Lynyrd Skynyrd called Tuesday's Gone. That's just his warm up song that he uses to get the mood right and aligning himself for gameday, a balance of soft yet solid rock. Then he starts kicking it up with some Blue Oyster Cult's Burnin' for You, just to get him going and revved up. Then he throws in a softer but just as hard song by Alice In Chains with Rooster. He's going to war out there, so he needs to lock in. For the fourth song, Kickstart my Heart by Motley Crue starts playing to get that final gear in high octane basically. And last but not least, depending on if it's at home or not, he goes with Gun's N Roses' Welcome to the Jungle (home) or ACDC's Thunderstruck (away). Just to finally hit that climax of gameday. He just needs to wrap it all together to get the game mood right.
