13. Team Rhine will travel to the WJC with a pretty formidable roster. There are 11 players with 3 or 4 seasons of SMJHL experience under their belt and most of them are capped or almost capped in terms of TPE. On top of that, there is a good number of promising young players who can't wait to show the world and the SHL what they are capable of. Looking at the goalies, we have the great Katharina Rosenthal, who already moved up to the SHL's Winnipeg Aurora, and Jon-Isaac Forty-One, who had a remarkable playoff run with his Knights. On defense we have maybe the best defensive D in the SMJHL in Dieter Frühstück, Whalers stud Pavel Mintyukov and the Citadelles duo of Holl and Bindewald, both looking back at three very successful seasons. If that's not enough, there is also the French quartett of Quiroule, Mathematique, Guacamoleh and Frappe to round out the defense corps. The forward group will be lead by Normand Marineau, who was first in regular season points for his Raptors, another Knight with a very strong season in Dirk Dienhart and Swiss allrounder Dejana Kaptina, a specialist when it comes to clutch performances in the playoffs. But maybe it's one of the other forwards who will make his mark and be the surprise hero for Team Rhine. In any case, the team is ready, confident and looking forward to a hopefully successful WJC. After turning the game around in the last period of that game and going into game 4 with a lead, another win could have already swung the series clearly in their favor. But after letting in five in consecutive games, Justin Time had an mvp performance, stoping 42 shots and turning the series even. That game switched the momentum again and San Francisco never looked back. Tampa Bay gave it a good go, but the experience and winning mentality of the Pride was once again too much to overcome. +3 TPE 12. Jenga 209 word, +4 TPE Expansion is both an exciting and terrifying time. New branding, new GMs, and new teams forged from the pickings of others can draw attention to the league but potentially cause chaos in the older teams. I expect every team to be hit in a key spot causing them all to lose a step in their planned trajectory. Perennial contenders like San Francisco, Tampa Bay, or Atlanta should continue at the top but could start their decline earlier than expected. Rising teams like Calgary, Montreal, or Seattle could see their rise cut short and rebuilding teams like Minnesota, Edmonton, and Winnipeg could see that rebuild derailed before it really gets off the ground. It will all come down to the GMs and their ability to choose the right players to protect. The chosen expansion GMs are all experienced and savvy. They won't miss their chance if a team leaves a quality player available. In theory every team will be hit with a similar loss but they results of seasons 83 through 86 will show which ones were able prove their GM skills. The expansion teams won't likely be in contention in season 83 but I suspect they all will push deep into the playoffs by the end of the 80s. 13. Old Reliable IIHF Analysis 167 words, +3 TPE Spaceman Spiff joined Quebec last season during his last season in juniors. As expected of a kid playing against veterans, it did not go well for Spiff scoring only 5 assists in the tournament. This season I expect a moderate improvement for Spiff, maybe even scoring a goal this time around! Quebec is a newly added nation with a young but improving roster. Last IIHF they went 4-0-6, finishing 5th in their conference and just outside of the elimination round. A surprising result for the young team, and I expect Quebec to end in around the same position. With a little luck they could see the playoff round but with the strength of some of the other nations they have no real chance to win. I expect Canada and Finland to fight for gold, with France, Lativa, and Japan with the best chances to knock them out. Norway and United States round out the top contenders with the rest of the field on the outside looking in. 10/10 TPE ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered S36 Challenge Cup Champion

First off you need to nail your draft picks; swinging & missing on high picks will devastate rebuilding teams and only make the process longer. Secondly, stay active and aggressive during free agency during your window. This is something both TBB and SFP have been doing for several seasons now. Lastly, and most importantly, you need to dedicate to a rebuild & execute hard in a short window. For example, stack all of your picks during a rebuild in a 2 or 3 season span, and then scout like mad to nail each pick. And of course, extensive knowledge of FHM will always help, but most GM's have that anyway. Code: Words: Over 100, +2 ![]() Registered Senior Member

blub 3 TPE hopefully 2. Which team has had the easier road to the cup finals? Do you think they could have made it to the finals if they were in a different division? I do think the Atlantic is still the toughest Division in the SHL. Having to go through Atlanta and Philadelphia was definetly the hardest possible path to the finals. Also Baltimore and Manhattan are pretty good as a bottom feeder Duo. However the Pacific is close and with Seattle being a top team again and Calgary getting closer and closer to their TPE peak as a team they may pass the Atlantic soon if San Fracisco stays competetive for a couple more seasons. But a threepeat is probably the biggest sign of being to able to anymone, at any time, all the time. There was never any team to beat San Francisco in a 7 game series. No matter which Division is the strongest right now. (126 words) 2 TPE 6. Your player gets added to a message group by accident and gets an unintentional invite to watch the finals live with the commissioners on their box. What does your player do and how does the situation evolve? The agenda of Shiny Rainbow here would be very clear. In her rookie season she had earned a total of 7 Million SHL $ in contract money. Since then it was 3 Mil., 2 Mil., and now again 3 Mil. SHL $. When complaining to her SHL GM the answer is always the same: "bla bla bla salary cap" here, "bla bla bla salary cap" there. Shiny Rainbow wants more contract money and it seems like puching the commissioners to raise the salary cap is probably the best way to achieve that. The only thing i fear about is, that Shiny Rainbow will be so persistent, that eventually she will go on the commishs nerves and get thrown out of their box. (122 words) 2 TPE 13. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Old Reliable IIHF Analysis Write your predictions for this year's IIHF tournament or WJC! Tell me about your team! What are your expectations for your player? What teams are you watching out for this time around? Did last season's results surprise you and how much do you expect them to change this time? The answers to the first three questions are all the same. Watch out for team Quebec. We're not the highest TPE team but Shiny Rainbow has an empty void to fill out in her heart after not winning a third Four Star Cup. And an IIHF gold medal is what she wants as consolation price now. So expect team Quebec and Shiny Rainbow to go out hot and hungry on from the very first second. It's time for another surprise winner like Norway was last season. Trivia - Verification Word: Renes +3 TPE
11. Written, 50 to 200+ words. It's About Time Every season there are teams that seem to finally take that next step and be ready to make the push for the cup only to fall short and then be unable to improve or even stay at the same level as what they reached the season before. What teams did you think did better than what you expected this season, either during regular season and/or playoffs? Why do you think they exceed your expectations? Should they be even better next season? Do you think they can meet those raised expectations during next season? Can some of them become the next team that will make it to the finals 3 times in four seasons? The Texas Renegades certainly outperformed expectations. Losing a couple of top scoring players like Chris Valentine (trade) and Konig Wolf (retired) certainly set the stage for a rebuilding season for the Renegades. Rather than regressing though, the team actually improved! Texas moved from 80 points to 87 and from 7th in the standings to 4th and won their division. A big reason for this great performance is from an incredible rookie season from Chris McZerhl III, falling just one point short of leading the team in points at 83. New edition Eric Hudson (trade from Buffalo) also helped replace some of the lost talent, tying Jack St. Clair with the team lead in points at 84. This was an improvement over Hudson's previous career high of 47 points. Of course you can't talk about team improvement without talking about goaltending. Veteran backstop Anthony Dionne improved over last season as well, increasing from 28 wins to 32 wins. Despite being his 15th season in the league, Dionne shows no signs of slowing down. Defenseman Hodor was also his usual brick wall self, registering 337 blocked shots, second overall in the entire league. A surprising season for the Texas Renegades which will hopefully they will only improve upon next season as the young players on the team continue to grow. (218 words +4 TPE) 2. Which team has had the easier road to the cup finals? Do you think they could have made it to the finals if they were in a different division? San Francisco had the easier route through the playoffs, at least in the beginning. San Fran went up against the Winnipeg Jets who finished the season below .500. Tampa on the other hand had to face the #3 seed, Philadelphia Forge. The reward for upsetting Philly was a date with #2 Atlanta, who Tampa also took care of. San Fran had to push through #5 Seattle and #6 New Orleans, so it certainly wasn't easy, but slightly *easier* than Tampa's road to the finals.
