Just seems like overkill for a volunteer league. You're hiring a co-GM not a CFO. ![]() ![]() Registered Brennan Lee Mulligan Stan 04-07-2025, 10:44 AMscudmuffin19 Wrote: I think a lot of people here are just surprised you would list them out like a "these skills are preferred in applicants" like this was a REAL job posting. You knuckleheads will complain about anything. I think it's refreshing to see someone take the time to name some explicit transferable skills that can be helpful in GMing. 7 never says a person needs all or even most of those things, just that things that could be helpful are the very long list. It admittedly is a little intimidating at first glance, but reading comprehension helps clear it up quickly. ![]() SHL GM Littleton Award Winner 04-07-2025, 10:44 AMscudmuffin19 Wrote: I think a lot of people here are just surprised you would list them out like a "these skills are preferred in applicants" like this was a REAL job posting. Just seems like overkill for a volunteer league. But I never said preferred? There's a lot of people with unique experiences and perspectives across these communities, and there's a common sentiment that jobs are routinely given to the same people. If someone is interested in helping but doesn't have a background in GMing, I honestly don't care and want to know what their experiences are that could transfer over. This was even part of what I think Fancey was looking to approach in his Jobs Coordinator role - helping people breach that barrier of limited sim league job experience. That list wasn't exhaustive either, just what I could think of off the top of my head based on my own experiences and things that I've seen other GMs and my Co-GMs bring to the table. I'm sure there's plenty of experiences that the current and past GMs draw from that I know nothing about. If someone does a lot of improv comedy in their free time and spins that as something that allows them to always keep a discord LR moving, scout really well, and react to new situations, I'm legitimately curious about that and want people to bring that up when they reach out to me because it's applicable to what I'm doing. ![]() Registered Posting Freak 04-07-2025, 11:03 AMsve7en Wrote: But I never said preferred?True it was never said, but it certainly seems to be how a good chunk of people are interpreting it. I would argue that it feels too similar to that section we see on job posts IRL that it might be evoking the reaction it is. Regardless, the civil response is appreciated and hope the job search goes well for you. ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak 04-07-2025, 10:58 AMhhh81 Wrote: People complained people aren't applying for jobs, and new users don't know how to put together a competitive application. I think the guy who managed one of the best J teams and locker rooms for multiple seasons knows what he is doing while hiring a Co-GM, not sure what we are doing here chirping about related experiences he would be open to hearing about

7: you might be more qualified than you think as any of these areas could have to translatable skills and experiences!

hey sve7en! put “able to nitpick everything” as a qualification!!
but fr fr what?? Can someone not wanna know what someone may be able to bring to the table for an expansion team Co-GM? As someone who spent the last irl year being Sve7en’s Co-GM, I am an extremely different user than his past Co’s (ex. Frenchie) and brought something different to the table on how I could help grow and develop a team. THAT WAS IMPORTANT FOR HIM TO KNOW BEFORE HE HIRED ME. And then his next Co-GM may bring in even more skills and talents but he won’t know that UNLESS YOU SHARE! All expansion teams need a special user who has talents in many areas in order for the teams success so god forbid that 7 just gave you a baseline of things that you could use as inspo to help sell yourself ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fantasy League Manager Posting Freak 04-07-2025, 01:42 PMkahri Wrote: hey sve7en! put “able to nitpick everything” as a qualification!!I think 'being able to nitpick' is already a requirement to be a league member ![]() Sig credits: OrbitingDeath & enigmatic ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
