Never done a presser before, sounds like fun! And, figure now is a good time for one as it is official - Jack McCarthy is officially a member of the Atlanta Inferno after being traded from the Texas Renegades. I spent 10 SHL seasons in Texas and I could not be more thankful for my time there. To @CapnCooper and @Anthique thank you for drafting me back in Season 69, you believed in me and I was always motivated to make sure you never regretted the pick. To all of my amazing Texas teammates over the years. Every user I played with meant something to me, but in particular I want to shout out @FaraDian @downer @bbjygm @LarryTheMVP @CrazyMojito and @Ohtaay as individuals who were either there with me for majority of my time in Texas, offered me a lot of advice over the years, or both! I will miss Texas and all of the bonds I formed there, and I am so thankful for all of my teammates during the 10 seasons.



I am extremely excited to now be a member of the Atlanta Inferno! Thank you to @hotdog for believing in me enough to trade a future pick for me. I am excited to be a part of Atlanta's next cup run, and I have already really enjoyed getting to know my new teammates. 



With that being said, I would be happy to answer any questions that anyone might have! Whether you are a past teammate, current teammate, or maybe do not even know me at all, I am happy to answer any and all questions that you might have - thanks in advance!

What are you most excited for now as a member of the Atlanta Inferno?

Two things come to mind. First, I am most excited to meet and get to know my new teammates. This trade presents a new opportunity for me to get to know more people on the site that I have not met or have not gotten the chance to know, so that will be a really cool experience for me. Second, I am excited to go for the Cup. In Texas, we got so close to so many times. Looking at this Atlanta roster, I believe it is structured and in a similar spot to where our best teams were at in Texas when we were making our deep playoff runs. I am excited ot get the chance to contribute to the success of the Inferno this season!

What was your favorite moment as a Renegade?

Tough to pick just one! But if I had to pick one, I would have to say our cup run of Season 77. It ended in heartbreak with that game 7 loss to New England, but that whole season and playoff run really felt magical and we absolutely had the team to win it all that season. So many great individual performances for our roster that season, and it all came together with one of our best runs as a group. I always will look back so fondly on all of our playoff runs we had in Texas, but Season 77 was definitely a special one.

so I know you've explored the channel now... which pokemon recipe made your mouth water the most?

So far "big bag full of kakunas that have been dusted in cheeto cheese and they're so crunchy and leave kakuna cheeto dust all over your fingers" is in the lead for me 

we are going to win the cup this season yes?

My PR team is telling me I should not answer this question...but the answer is yes, absolutely.

favorite Cub of all time?

Derrek Lee has always been my favorite Cub! He was such a good player when I was a kid and starting to really get into baseball, so the timing was right. In the more recent years, hard to pick against Anthony Rizzo for all he did as a part of the 2016 World Series team.

do you have any idea who is who in the Discord server?

Almost zero clue other than yourself, haha! It has honestly been a fun game though trying to figure out who is who and match the Discord name with the player roster. I am sure I will run in to some fun moments this season where I go "oh YOU are (player)!"

How’s been the move to Atlanta? Find a house? Apartment?

So far so good on the move! For this season, the plan is to stay in an apartment in the Atlanta area. Since I am on a one year deal at the moment, want to make sure I settle in without having to go through the stress of buying a house and figuring out my future. I have no doubt I will really enjoy it here, so hopefully that apartment can turn into a house someday!

You going to be making meals or eating out?

The team nutritionist may not be happy, but in the short term it will be a lot of eating out. I look forward to trying out new places around Atlanta, but I know I need to watch what I eat. Luckily, I have an amazing wife who makes some incredible food, so I look forward to those home cooked meals once we settle in to our new place.

You got asked about what was your best moment as a Renegade, but what will you miss the most about Texas?

I am already loving the Atlanta locker room, but I will miss the Renegade locker room and those game day chats with my teammates. After doing it for ten seasons, I think it was just second nature for me to talk about our successes and failures as a team, and always bring a positive outlook to the locker room. It always made our playoff runs that much more special that we all were able to be in that locker room cheering each other on together.

I’m sure that the Inferno is in good hands with a leader like you. How do you plan to help your new team to win a championship?

I appreciate you saying that! I plan on helping the Inferno win a championship this season by bringing a veteran presence to the back end of their blue line. I have been in a top defensive spot for Texas for several seasons, and while I am so thankful for that opportunity, I am also a realist and I know father time is catching up to me. So, to come into Atlanta where the roster has so many talented players, I will be able to still bring a high level of play I would normally have on the first line, to Atlanta's second or third and provide that depth. I also will bring that leadership that I value so much, and always have a positive outlook on our season; I know how grueling a season can be and I want to make sure I am someone who keeps the group's head up even when times get tough.

What should your inferno teamates know about you? 

I would like my Inferno teammates to know that although I have been quiet around the site and many may not have heard my name before, that I am as active as it gets and extremely committed to winning a championship, and making my player the best that he can possibly be. I have been a top earner of my draft class since I was selected back in Season 69, and I want to make sure my teammates know that even though I am in the back part of my career, I am still going to earn to the max and make sure I do all I can to get us that championship.

Do you have special talents?

The way I sat here for five minutes thinking about if I do...I wish I could say I did, but I can't think of a single thing! How boring of me.

What are your hobbies or favorite tv series?

My favorite hobby is golfing. I have always been a competitive person and have played sports my whole life. It was not until I got older that I realized how much I love golf. It is the most frustrating sport I have ever played without a doubt, but I love that I can challenge myself and always try and improve.
Favorite TV series would be Band of Brothers. I try to re-watch it at least once a year, and it never gets old. I have always tried to model my leadership style after Major Richard Winters who led the men of Easy Company; all of those guys are heroes and I have so much respect for what they did for us all.
