S82 mPT #4: Smoke Signal Due: Sunday, May 18th @ 11:59 PM PST

The Hamilton Steelhawks have a great yearly tradition they put on to announce their most recent signings. It consists of a giant steel hawk statue screeching as its chest lights up with the persons name in neon lights.

Post gifs of panthers doing things panthers would not usually do, or sitting in places they would not usually sit. We need to lean into the goofy cat angle for this at some point.

It is club policy that all interviews and media availability is required for players to be recorded from the waist up. This is because all members of the team regularly wear shorts and flip flops at anytime they don't have their skates on.

In Tamp, Dwight shares the full extent of tactics and the mindset used for player builds and such to anyone who wants to listen. No need to be in the war room or feel like you need to actively contribute. Just knowledge sharing for all.

When the Rage sign a player or make a trade, they buy some digital billboard space in times square to give details of the contract. This often results in the square erupting in cheers when the news appears.

Specialized pudding cups. What better way to commemorate a special occasion than a unique, limited edition run of pudding with flavor profiles designed by the new signing? Coveted both as a collector's item and a delectable dessert that is perfect for stirring.

San Franciso has a meticulously replicated Pride Rock atop from which they either lift new hires/signings into the air with chocolate on their faces, or chuck the fired/dismissed/trade party right off the edge, also covered in chocolate. If reporters don't cheer loudly, they aren't invited back for the next one.

The unique thing my team does to announce their signings is to actually write out contracts for two players for the same position.  Then they give each of them a sword and tell them its kill or be killed.

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE.

When San Francisco first unveiled their new branding they had a pet Lion named Mufasa on display in the main entrance, but they were forced to retire him back to the zoo after one of the fans had a few too many and tried to fight it.

I heard that back in the before times, NEW was known for their calm signings. Recently though with Hotdog Lunch on the scene we were met with more hotdogs at signings than ever before.

Inferno could create a family feud style game show where they announce signings and the winner of the show gets an extra million on their contract.

I'd love to see one of those weather reporters outside in a true blizzard storm announcing our picks and signings. That would be true dedication to the team.

With regards to our mascot, the Great Falls Grizzlies send newly signed players (and newly hired staff) to go find a wild grizzly and take a picture with it. Bonus points for creative poses and for how little you manage to disturb the wildlife.

For Toronto, I imagine people are sent to those plexiglass viewing platforms in the CN Tower for a photo op. As a person who's done that myself, I can imagine no more horrifying experience than staring down at the ground from so high up. In fact, I credit the experience for being the sole factor in my development of my crippling fear of heights!

The Anchorage Armada have one of, if not THE best way of announcing their signings. A Boat parade! Each players name, along with their salary and term, are printed on a massive canvas that’s is then tied to the side of a boat. Anchorage holds a parade each year, the longer the parade, the more signings!

Chicago is well known for their huggers, so every time a new signing happens we get together for a team hug and then proceed to hug the new signings one at a time in a giant line and they arent allowed to play for the team until they have hugged everyone !
