Given the task of building a dream team of Calgary Dragons and Hamilton Steelhawks, I've taken a different route than most. Being unfamiliar with most players, my selections were based primarily on names.

The begin, my team's top line consists of Raymond Lindsay centering Christopher Raymond and Christoph Klose. The connection between Raymond and Lindsay would be one to fear, and Christoph's name is Klose enough. These three would be doing a lot of damage for my team. They would be my top forward unit in every situation. With just four men on the ice, it would be the Christopher Raymond Lindsay duo I'd want out there.

Other forwards who would quickly be placed on the roster include Kain Webb (I assume he's of relation to Spiderman), Roberto Martucci (we need an Italian), Ron Bolt (he's gotta be fast, right), and Justin Cunningham (he's cunning, and I like ham). At this point, to find five more forwards, I had to dig a little deeper. I first turned my attention towards finding my last center. I settled on Saku Perhonen (Saku = Koivu = Mikko Koivu = Minnesota Wild). In need of four more forwards, I turned to Finnegan Larsson (a decent use of a last name as a first name), Shawn Swerin (I randomly slapped his name on a sig I made, so why not), Corey Tripp (so I can have a Cory and Shawn playing together), and Audun Wissink (what kind of a name is that?).

Selecting the defensemen was easier, most notably because I did not need to find as many. The obvious first choice was Vladislav Smirnov, because I need a strong-sounding Russian guy on my team. I partnered him with Claude Malenfant, whose name for some reason makes me think "snobby rich guy." That pairing would be good for some laughs, I'm sure. The rest of the defensemen were a little underwhelming, but making the roster were Curtis Larade (for rhyming with parade), Ryan Powell (for "pow!" sound effects), Erik Chisling, and Shanye Steele (no particular reason for these last two, I just needed two more defensemen and when my first four were Dragons, I thought I should take two more Dragons).

At goalie, I was luckily able to select two good players in Sven Andersson and Ryan Jesster. Sven gets to start because Sven, but Jesster makes the team for comic relief.

Aight, this mishmash of players would be competing for the cup every single year. I don't see how any other team could consist of such amazing forwards, stellar defense and obviously the best goalie tandem in the league. But it is a dream team so that is definitely why xD.

I really like the line of Klose, Witzel and Perhonen. I think they would develop amazing chemistry together. I believe Klose and Witzel would be an amazing duo for any 4-4 situation. They provide great defense and can easily score from any position on the eye.

Ekblad and Dupont is my main pairing. I am a big fan boy of both these players. I think they will provide grit and offense from the backend no problem. This would be a very mean pairing to be playing against.

My goal was to provide depths up and down the lines which I believe I accomplished. From the first to fourth line, each are just as dangerous as one another. Each of my defensive pairings has a star on it.

Jesster wins the race for the starting goaltended over Anderson. Both could be in position to take the reins but I gave it to the vet. He is due to retire soon so I he deserves that position. I'm sorry Anderson, you are a stud and all but Jesster is the heart and soul of the dragons. xD

Sticking with the "if it ain't broke, marginally improve it" approach, my team is made up of most of the current Steelhawks Roster.

For the top line, I just couldn't bring myself to break it up, I tried repeatedly to make something else work, but it has been(easily) the best top line in the playoffs thus far, and I don't think you really could make it better, considering how many times it's come through in the clutch for the Hawks. Klose on the 2nd line makes the top 6 too dangerous for any team to handle. The bottom 6, though young, has proven to be reliable in 3rd/4th line roles, so again, I find it hard to change.

Defensively, again with the few changes, while I would play them more defensively, I see no reason to break up a winning core of defense. And having Schultz-Drake as a defensive pairing is a future I think every GM would love to have.

Goaltending. . .If this were all time, I'd have to go with Jesster, but for now, Andersson has been insane(11-1-1 to this point), Andersson played a huge part in why Hamilton was able to blow by everyone in the playoffs.

The Steelhawks first line is arguably the best in the SHL right now so it would be foolish to separate them in any way. Wtizel and Martucci are a dynamic duo on the ice and feed off each other very well. McKeil is a great complement to that line by opening up space on the ice with his style of play. They mesh very well together and are kept in tact here. Webb and Klose are two of the best players in the league and are paired together as well. The chemistry is there for both of them and will continue to excel with Lindsay. Lindsay has good vision and will be able to set up both of these stars and the points will rack up. The 3rd line, centered by Perhonen, is as solid as many 1st lines in the SHL. Bolt and Wissink are great wingers that play a solid 2-way game and Perhonen is very well known for his defensive abilities. They'll be able to shut down the opposing team while also having the skill to drop a lot of points themselves. The 4th line is also incredibly solid with Wilson, Smith, and Mucyk. They are similar to the 3rd line in that they can perform on both sides of the puck with great efficiency. They'll complete this impressive collection of forwards.

The defense is a coach's dream. Chisling is a HOF defenseman paired with a young, rising star in Ekblad. They'll shut you down and control the puck on the rush. They can and will do everything on the ice to generate offense and stop it in their own zone. Dupont and Carlsson are in the upper echelon of defensemen as well and they are just as skilled as the first pairing. They can play offense and defense tremendously well and won't be beat on any bad plays. Smirnov and Drake, who will bring their offensive style to help the offense gain control in the attacking zone, round out the defense. They are great puck-movers who will generate a ton of offense from the blue line. The goaltending is in very good hands with legend, Ryan Jesster. If this defense lets anything by them, they can feel very comfortable that Jesster will bail them out.

This is a complete team, capable of elite play on offense and defense. They are a scary opponent for any team in any league.

The top line, I decided to put Klose as a wing and team him up with Witzel and Martucci. I think this could be one of the more offensively dominant lines ever. Martucci would have two guys who can put the puck in the net, and excel at doing so. I decided to put McKeil, Webb, and Lindsay on the second line, and I think that would make for a solid 2nd line. Obviously they would not be as good as the top line, but they would still be a force to be reckoned with and can also put up some points.

Defensively, I would send out Grigorenko and Eckbald as my top line, and Chisling and Carlsson as the 2nd pair. I considered flipping Eckbald nad Carlsson, but overall I decided to go with this lineup. Both defensive pairings would be extremely tough and would not give up anywhere close to the amount of goals that the offense would be producing.

Goaltending, I decided to put Andersson as my starter, just because he has been an absolute monster in the playoffs so far. Jesster is certainly a capable backup, and I would feel very comfortable with him in net as well.

This would be a great dream team to make for sure. The 1st line would easily be one of the best in the league and have the most offensive talent. the 2nd line has loads of experience with top players in every corner.my 3rd line has a elite winger in perhonen who is going through his last season in the shl and kain webb and lindsay who play a complete game.

Defensively ekblad would without a doubt we my top guy, he is a great player and knows the game so well. he excels at driving to the net and has a great vision and mind for the game. Grigorneko has alot of experience and is a great defender who would be a perfect fit with ekblad. Erik Chisling is a living legend and a great player who will fit really well on the 2nd line alongside young star daniel carlson. These 2 will play a solid 2 way game and not hesitate to get going offensively. my 3rd d line consists of young D drake is always looking to improve and top d smirnov who sees the ice like no other. This team would be very strong and balanced and definitely a dream team anyone would love to make.

My starting goalie would be living legend Ryan jesster, his last season. Been there since s1, he is a top goalie and would be a gem in net.
