Which explains why they were both among the league leaders in scoring in there respective seasons. If Yakupov didn't make the team he would of been playing in the KHL and that would not of been a good situation.

I will agree on one point, physically Nuge wasn't ready for the league, he came in at a very low weight, however he made up for it with his hockey IQ and dominated the league before he got hurt.

Good trade. I think saying NYI loses if Vanek leaves is kinda short sighted.
The only way I can see NYI losing, is if they miss playoffs. I think they're beginning to establish themselves in this league as being competitive and I think that goes a long way in bringing in talent through other means, be it FA or being on players trade list.
However, NYI make this deal with intentions on being a playoff team, anything after is hindsight, and hindsight is 20/20.
