900 TPE Player that didn't get them to the playoffs, resulting in the first overall pick.

it's one season, we've seen teams go from out of the playoffs to top in the conference within 2 seasons. It's not like that 900 TPE player is retiring tomorrow.

It's not like there wasn't Victor Helstrom involved or anything.. LAP lost the deal, any way that you put it.

You're basing one season and 1 yet to be drafted pick on who won the deal, makes sense

I hate the fact I traded the #1 pick but really when you look at it Donini is a superstar caliber player and an awesome teammate so while Trading Helstrom and #1 for Donini seems like a lot but sometimes you have to trade good things to get a great thing.

If you trade your first for a roster player you had better not be finishing last. That's the whole truth. As much as I know you have to defend your player and yourself in the swap, it looks bad.

Helstrom and the first overall pick will likely reach superstar status.

List these "many"

Abdullah Muhammed Jabir
Drayson Williams
Simo Hayha
Christian Bauer

and then

Antero Salmelainen
Micheal Haan

they weren't busts but never really reached "superstar status" like you put it.

Not too sure about Jabir and Williams I wasn't around then but never heard of them before whereas I've heard of guys like Jesster, Hogan, Summers

Honestly say what you want but I'm not ashamed of the trade and I wouldn't re-do it either. Why? Because I was confident in my team and I decided to trade my 1st, did I think it was going to become #1 overall? Fuck no why would I think that? Adding a 900+ TPE player I don't care WHAT team you are on but that's going to make your team better and Donini has been a great player and teammate for us. But I gambled and rolled the dice, I told myself "We have a good roster and we're going to make the playoffs," and I WAS WRONG but that doesn't make Donini any less of a superstar talented player that's worthy of a first round pick that I thought would be a later round pick. Oh well we learn from our mistakes... New England did the same thing for Ask and they turned it around.
