<div align="center">S15 Montreal Impact Awards</div>
Four words sum up the S15 season aptly. We didn’t do it. After many prior seasons of success, including 2 back to back Four Star Cup wins, the pair of new GM’s couldn’t do what we had set out. We felt we had stacked our team to a very high level, but we couldn’t get it done in the end. We drafted well last year and signed enough free agents that we were able to build on some really strong send downs. Add to that the trades for Helstrom and Cook, we were looking like an unbeatable team. Then we added Toews + Khan Jr. through the draft and everything was sunny in Montreal, how wrong things can go eh? The start was ugly. We dropped into last place and plummeted down the standings very early. We were able to try and kind of make a charge, but we never found chemistry. Despite constant line and strategy switching, if a combo worked it would only do so briefly and then disappear for us. I guess those are the breaks and when the sim hates you, you gotta accept that and move on. That’s what we had to do at the end of the season as we ended up in last place in the East, with a tough matchup vs. Detroit in the first round. The first round came against Detroit and we knew it was going to be a tough series from the start. It sure was as we battled back and forth, eventually losing and it was definitely crushing. You go into the season with such high expectations and one moment you’re on top of the world, the next you’re packing your bags for the offseason. So now you sit here as a GM and you wonder where you went wrong. Montreal has had such great success as an organization and they were poised to do that this year, but it clear wasn’t our destiny. You fight with yourself about it being destiny, or whether it was just some bad luck. You wonder if you failed the team, but I guess like I said you gotta move past it. Enough with the negatives, we had a fantastic group of guys in the locker room and I honestly won’t forget this season. We had leaders from last season in Byrde, Kladno, Bobrovsky and Labsvards return, which was a huge boost. Then with the acquisition of Helstrom and Cook, two elite players and arguably our two best players this season, we were all really pumped. Toevs and Khan were young, but they brought a veteran presence to the room. The Latvian Invasion continued and we hope it does for many seasons in Montreal as they’re all fantastic guys. With a nearly full collection of draft picks, some very good send downs such as Brick Wall, our future in net and a great group of guys, we feel we’re prepared to take the league by storm in Season 16 and reclaim our spot at the top. The rightful champs of the Simulation Major Junior Hockey League. [font=geneva]So now, after winding down the season and taking time to reflect on the events, the managers set to the task of handing out the awards to the players. Each award comes with a $500,000 bonus! It was especially hard to pick the award winners this season as we had so many phenomenal team members. Without further ado, the Season 16 Montreal Impact Award Winners!! <div align="center">The Kain Webb Award - Team Leadership Award Previous Winners: S11 - Alexey Kovalenko S12 – Taylor Deen S13 – Hans Schultz S14 – Emils Vilmenietis Lionel Byrde!!!! Well, I think this award kind of goes without saying for those who were in the Montreal Impact Locker Room. From the beginning, Lionel was able to take on a huge leadership role. When he first arrived in Montreal two seasons ago, Keenan and I saw great things in him. We were deciding on an assistant captain and we got him to post in the locker room and practically handed him the A. He took our challenge to be a big part of the squad and now two seasons later, he’s a guy who already acts like an SHL vet. He’s respectable and knows how to be a positive leader. No doubt in my mind he’s going to rock the SHL and I’m proud to call Lionel a good friend. Best of luck next year buddy, you’re always welcome back in Montreal. The Jordan Nugent-Hall Award - Most Dedicated Player Previous Winners: S11 - Jrue Harden S12 – Jamie Shetler S13 – Steven Jalopski S14 – Lionel Byrde and Mikhail Kladno Victor Helstrom!!! Ohoho, an award named after me! This prestigious honour has been awarded to our star defenseman Victor Helstrom! We got him in a steal of a trade and he was honestly a huge player for us this year on and off the ice. He was dedicated to improving his player, hitting the send down TPE max in no time and he was dedicated to the squad keeping constant locker room contact. I couldn’t have asked for a better trade acquisition and we may have done even worse had Helstrom not been in Montreal this season. Thanks for a great year and good luck in Winnipeg man! The Christoph Klose Award - Top Forward Previous Winners: S11 - Jrue Harden S12 – Oliver Harris S13 – Marcus Jones S14 – Emils Vilmenietis Ezekiel Cook!!! This one was somewhat of a no brainer again and we find another Detroit acquisition here! Congrats Ezekiel as Cook led our team in points and had by far our most points by a forward. He was great in both ends of the ice and was an outstanding on ice presence for us. We paid a handsome price of a 3rd to acquire him from Detroit and managed to bring him down from the big leagues, but it was well worth it. He’s a great friend of mine and it sucks we couldn’t get him and Helstrom a cup. Cya soon bud! The Quilha Agante Award - Top Defenseman Previous Winners: S11 - Curtis Larade S12 – Bohemund Hardrada S13 – Sergei Zherdev S14 – Kriss Labsvards Kriss Labsvards and Victor Helstrom!!! Well this is a bit surprising! Our first split award of the evening is between Kriss Labsvards and Victor Helstrom! Kriss defends his title from last year as he had a fantastic year both offensively and defensively. He’s a great guy to talk to and he was an important presence in the locker room as we had some great chats despite English not being his first language. The man with all the hardware seems to be Helstrom as he picks up another award! He was a god in the SMJHL this season and you could easily see why Winnipeg picked him so high. He came here with the hopes of finally winning an SMJHL cup and we couldn’t do it for him, which is why I must apologize. I don’t know what went wrong, a lot did but I really feel bad. Good luck this year boys, make Montreal proud! The Petr Klimek Award - Best Two Way Forward Previous Winners: S11 - Shawn Swerin S12 – Nathan Wong S13 – Carter O’Callahan S14 – Lionel Byde Mikhail Kladno!!! We got Byrde’s counterpart winning this award as Kladno was very good for us this year! Took a huge bulk of the faceoffs for us and was an outstanding player offensively and defensively. He was our 2nd best scorer and was logging big PP + PK minutes. Kladno was also a great presence off the ice and while it’s not part of the award I wanted to point it out. They were able to rejuvenate the LR when it was quiet and it’ll seem a bit quieter definitely next season. Congrats Mikhail! The Josef Heiss Award - Top Goaltender Previous Winners: S11 - Cyan Winters S12 – Jamie Shetler S13 – James Reimer S14 – James Reimer + Sergei Bobrovsky Sergei Bobrovsky!!!! This was by far the hardest choice to make of all the trophies. Throughout the year, both goalies made a solid case to earn the Josef Heiss award, but Velevra and I could not see fit to hand it to anyone other than Sergei Bobrovsky. And not just cause our other goalie was inactive and the other played 1 game for us. Haha, congrats man! You’re an Impact for Life and I know you’ll tear it up this season in Manhattan. Make your mark buddy, you’ve got it The Armin Brovalchuk Award - Season MVP Selected by the GM's Previous Winners: S11 - Nathan Wong S12 – Oliver Harris S13 – Hans Schultz S14 – Emils Vilmenietis Victor Helstrom!!! Isn’t this man just cleaning up the awards? His name gets called again because on the ice he was a force for the Impact in each end and then he hit the locker room and was tremendous there. We looked to him to lead the team and he stepped up to do that. I can’t say much more for him as I’ve already sung his praises in the last two awards. Congrats Victor! Honestly, I can’t believe we were able to trade for you and I think it’s absolutely unreal how you were able to dominate the league this year. The Darian Scherbluk Award - Playoff MVP Selected by the GM's Previous Winners: S11 - Dave Smith S12 – Jamie Shetler S13 – James Reimer S14 – Kevin Marleau Ezekiel Cook!! Sigh, a short playoffs meant for a quick decision on this award. There was no doubt that Ezekiel Cook deserved this award as he continued his regular season domination, leading the team in points. He was solid in both ends and as I’ve already been praising him through the last awards, I’d just like to congratulate him as this is a huge honour! Thanks for a great season man! The Kurtis Hunter Award - Season MVP Selected by the Players Previous Winners: S11 - Dave Smith + Kovalenko S12 – Taylor Deen S13 – Hans Schultz S14 – Emils Vilmenietis Kriss Labsvards!!! Haha the award stays in Latvia! It was a close vote, but ultimately his teammates chose him and they get to see sides of him I don’t ! I’d like to congratulate Kriss on a fantastic season, his two trophies and I’d like to wish him luck on the <s>Latvian</s> Calgary Dragons Well that concludes tonight's award ceremony! Congratulations to all of the recipients of the awards and good luck to you in your SHL careers! VIVE L'IMPACT! :impact:</div> - -

Great write-up, Jman! Even if we didn't get to take any hardware home, I'm still proud and happy with everything. Good look to the Impact moving up to the SHL, and to JNH and the future Impact. You're in good hands!

Late reply, but a great article and a way to say goodbye to the old season! Sad that I probably won't play for you guys anymore but I didn't really settle in in the terms of activity anyways haha.
Good luck for the next season and win that cup finally!
