Official 2014 Winter Olympics Thread

These past 10 pages have been the most asinine thing i've ever read, my IQ has dropped after reading all this. You're all talking in circles and talking shots at each others' countries.

I never took shots at Canada in the least.

To clarify in hopes of staving off my execution:

All Canada has is the Winter Olympics. In that, it is the only thing they, as a country, dominate in. Every event is crucial to them, regardless of quality or anything because they are dead set on trying to win the medal count or come as close as possible. Now, not to say they don't support Canada in the Summer games or anything. However, they are more willing to let events slide and are simply proud when their countrymen medal or when their showing is particularly strong (not sure if slide is right word, but I guess what I'm trying to say is, they don't get as mad if they don't medal or disappointed due to expectations and realities). Canada's emphasis is simply on the Winter games and not the Summer games. Women's hockey becomes crucial as it is something Canada should be medaling in and is a key part in Canada moving up in the medal count and chalking up another Gold. Compared to the Summer games, if Canada loses in women's basketball, they may be disappointed, but would not be as insatiably angry if they drop the game. Same thing with men's basketball. Now compare this to men's hockey or women's hockey where they would riot if they lost and got Silver. In both of the Summer sports I mentioned, they'd be elated with a silver. It's a matter of expectations. So essentially, all Canada has is the Winter Olympics, because it is the thing they are expected to dominate and have great success in, hence it's a silly to ask Canadians if they actually cared about the women's hockey game today, because of course they did. They were heavily invested, because the difference between gold and silver is massive when it comes to the Winter games. Just looking at you guys freaking out over luge or the biathlon or whatever, proves this. Every event is massive in the Winter games, while you guys may let things like basketball or the marathon or whatever slide because, "Oh well, we weren't supposed to win anyways."

More than Half of these are winless streaks in regular season, and it contains a individual tennis player and nascar driver.

How didnt they include the Leafs 1967 drought?

No I agree, everyone took what you said the wrong way, but there's been a lot of other shit said that hasn't been called for.

Because it's not even close to the worst streak lol. Browns, Red Sox, Cubs, those are bad streaks.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Actually id agree, in terms of worst championship droughts it would be those 3 than the Leafs.

No. Lions, Buffalo Bills, Capitals. At least you guys have a cup. These franchises have NEVER had success. I'd take one cup 50 years ago to no cups/championships ever

Buffalo Bills went to what? Like 4 Superbowls during the 90s?
Caps went to the finals in 98?
Lions? well they are the Lions

Toronto has had it far worst IMO. At least those teams except for the Lions had a chance at their respected championships before 1967. Im talking about before 67, I wasnt alive to see the Leafs to ever at least come close to anything, at least those teams have came close.

That's even worse. Look at how bitchy you were after a game 7 loss in round fucking one. Imagine doing that... 4 years in a row That's what Bills fans went through, Capitals have been to one cup final period... They've been around since 74

You wanna know torture!?!? My team has won about 1/4 of all Stanley Cups and I have been alive for 1..... and I was 3 months old!

Also Dion, 14 NBA teams have never won a championship, 3 of those have been around at least 40 seasons. Sacramento hasn't been to the finals or won a championship since 51, The Hawks haven't won one since 58, The Cubs, Indians, Rangers and Astros all have a longer championship drought than Toronto in the MLB and the Cardinals, Lions, Eagles, Titans, Chargers, Bills, Falcons, Vikings and Bengals all have longer standing championship droughts than the Leafs.

The Leafs streak isn't nearly as bad as Leafs fans make it out to be when you factor in they've won more cups than most NHL franchises and at least have a storied history of success. (Albeit not recently) At least you have that history, some teams don't even have that.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!
