If they hadn't been as aggressive or unnerved they probably wouldn't have had that problem. USA set the tone in the game with the early goal and Ghana became more desperate as the game went on with no goal. I still think Ghana was the superior team on paper and with US injuries in the game. Ghana didn't capitalize and US did, simple as that. Luck has a factor in sports and I guess we'll see if it was luck or skill that USa beat Ghana. I want to see them matched up against Portugal though. Great match imo. Also, I don't find that many similarities in the two sports. ![]() Registered S38 Challenge Cup Champion
Draw Portugal, keep Germany at 2 or 3 and we're fine.
But I wouldn't count us out against either team. Porgugal, minus Ronaldo, is not that much better than we are. Ghana looked to be in MUCH better shape than we did, however. Hopefully we can run with our Euro opponents. ![]() Registered S38 Challenge Cup Champion Quote:Originally posted by Underoath10@Jun 16 2014, 08:08 PM Ghana only had 8 SOG as compared to our 7. Shots and SOG are both recorded in soccer and are different stats. And really Shots not on goal don't mean much. Ghana was in better shape and played better but you don't get points for that. We did what we needed to. Onto the next one! ![]() Registered S23 Challenge Cup Champion Quote:Originally posted by Dooley@Jun 16 2014, 08:24 PMYeah, I know. I played soccer for a large portion of my life. Shots not on goal still keep a goalie antsy and love the World Cup because you get to see some great match ups, and the littlest of things can change the momentum in soccer. I thought US was playing to defensive at the start of the second half. I'm not sure my nerves could take a game like that against Portugal or Germany. ![]() Registered Senior Member
Brazil vs Mexico is the big game tomorrow. Wednesday Spain vs Chile is crucial. If Spain loses, they are in shit creek.

If Portugal beats the USA, then your not sitting pretty anymore. Because once that happens the US would have to beat Germany. Assuming Ghana loses to Germany and Portugal beats Ghana.

Even if USA draws Portugal and keeps Germany to 2-3 goals. Portugal could beat Ghana by 2-3 goals also. So really it's tough to tell at this point.
Fkn awesome game, wish it ended as a tie though ![]() ![]() Registered S23 Challenge Cup Champion
Yeah, at this point it's really hard to predict what's going to happen. I can't wait to see the match ups, but tomorrows game looks good so I have something to entertain myself with as I wait.

These next two are going to be something to get through lol. Portugal without Pepe is a bit friendlier. We should certainly be confident that we can play with them. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
