When is the next recruitment drive?
#16

I'd imagine part of the problem would be organically getting it to the front page of the subreddit. If there's a coordinated effort to boost the post when it's new (the most vital time in terms of visibility) then that may be seen as manipulation, even if it's by members established in the subreddit.

CP has already reached out to specific subs to post on and is just waiting for mod approval from them as far as I know.

As far as vote manipulation, last time we posted in the Golden Knights sub a lot of users got warnings from Reddit with potential suspensions on Reddit if it was done again. It might have been from upvoting for TPE though.

i'm telling you guys lets recruit from pornhub

seriously though whoever had the idea of getting people from NHL twitch streamers or NHL youtubers is a legitimate good idea, even if we that means we have people who watch baconcountry vids here

I think the problem is that (like I think @charlieconway said) is that it's a coordinated effort to get it to the front of the subreddit (ie. upvote for 2 TPE). But it would be hard to get the traffic we need to recruit a good amount of people otherwise (ie. someone who doesn't give a fuck about the SHL probably isn't going to upvote a thread about the SHL)

if this is the case then postponing the draft until some reddit posts are up definitely sounds like a good idea

Are we not already postponing the season a bit for this at this point? I mean I'm all for getting as many people in here as we can, but at some point we need to get on it and waiting for 3-4 people to reply back might take forever.

Probably best to see what CP says when he gets on. If some sub posts go up today then a draft tomorrow is still fine. Otherwise that would be up to SMJHL HO and the GMs.

We were all ready to go Sunday after the SHL draft, but postponed it because CP had some things he was trying. The only day this week or this weekend we had at least one person from each team available was Wednesday. Part of the issue was the recruitment team not making any real moves before CP took over. This isn't on CP, he's done what he could in his short time in the position. But the fact no recruitment was done the entirety of last week kind of shot this draft.

If you see a post you like on reddit you upvote, no one would stop that. I think their issue was more with the fact that we were actively asking members to upvote and rewarding it.

I think thats the issue the more I think about it. As long as there isnt a TPE reward for doing so it sounds like it would be fine. The reward for doing so would manipulate the results

I would also agree with this line of thought. Like people have already stated it should be fine if you're already a user of r/Hockey who sees a post, as well as a member of an individual subreddit like r/Caps and the same occurs. If it's clearly visible that there is a reward for upvoting then that causes a problem, as well as if there's a clear call to vote like a big post on the SHL forums linking to the post saying to go upvote these recruitment threads. Reddit is a fickle place to say the least, and what's allowed in one specific subreddit may be banned by the mods in another, and that's not even touching what Admins might do if they actually do something for once.

As for moving the draft around, how much would it impact the start of the SMJHL season if it's pushed back, and how much would that affect when the SHL & SMJHL offseasons start? Obviously playoffs could always end sooner or later for either league, but it could mess up things down the line depending on how disjointed the respective offseasons are.

That was our mistake for posting in the sub of the worst fanbase in the NHL

Re postponing the draft, we've already postponed it from Sunday to Wednesday and iirc Thursday/Friday were the worst days for availability among J GM's so delaying it any further would cut way too close to pre-season.
