The day after our interview with Halifax Junior Prospect Al Kayhall we are back with an interview with another one of the Raiders prospect group, Thicc Cheezy. This interview comes as a bit of a surprise to all of us here at the Press, as Thicc initially ignored all of our phone calls and emails requesting an interview. It wasn't until we posted the interview yesterday with Al that Thicc came out of the woodwork to do an interview.

A well known premadonna, Thicc Comes to us from a small northern town named Fairview where he has been a hero his whole hockey career. After having a local day named after him, a billboard of his face when you enter the town and a recurring spot on the local sports news station it comes as no surprise that the Halifax prospect was expecting to be drafted in the first round. Rumours have been swirling about Thicc since his arrival after the draft, and we finally had an opportunity to sit down and set the record straight:

Interviewer: "Hello Thicc-"

Thicc Cheezy: "-Call me Cheeze, Thicc sounds ridiculous"

I: "Hello Cheeze. It has been quite a week for you, can you explain the thoughts and feelings that you were experiencing leading up to the draft and how you're feeling now?"

Cheeze: "It hasn't really been exciting at all. I knew I was getting drafted so it was a matter of waiting to see who took me. Being a local celebrity in my town for so long, and lighting it up my whole career wherever I have played I thought I was going top 10. I'm a little choked that I went as late as I did so this week has been more of a piss off than anything else, but it is what it is." 

I: "About that, there have been some rumours floating around town that you're going to refuse to play and that you've made some very negative comments on the record to people about the skill of your teammates. Would you like to address these claims?"

Cheeze: "What the f-"

I: "- No swearing, please"

Cheeze: "This is news to me and absolute crap. As soon as I arrived in town I was welcomed with open arms in the locker room, this team is full of absolute beauties. I absolutely will not refuse to play, I can't wait to get going and prove to everybody that I should have been a first round pick in this draft."

I: "What about the negative comments you allegedly made about the skill of your teammates?"

Cheeze: "I hate that you're making me dignify this with a response. This team is very skilled, and I wouldn't be so confident that I will be successful this year if I wasn't surrounded by players who I believe are better than me who I can learn from. I'm done here, stay away from me until after preseason."

A player well known for his passion on and off the ice, Thicc Cheezy certainly showed his confidence and distaste for certain things being said about him during this interview. We will be sure to catch up with him after preseason to see if he is all sizzle no steak, or if he is in fact the real deal.
