Remove defense from weakness options?

I feel like you meant this as a joke, but I think the idea is interesting. Would force some diversity in builds

I've actually spent the last 10 minutes pondering which one I'd choose but it's way more fun to make fun of Bojo so I wasn't going to admit it if no one else did.

Make it more a little more interesting and have it be a choice you need to make when you are called up into the SHL from the SMJHL and use up all your banked TPE. Allows you to slot yourself into a lineup a little better. No weaknesses pre-SHL

I am all for looking at the whole system and deciding if bigger changes are needed, but the reason I bring specifically defense up is that the smjhl interns now put players on hold when they create with defense as a weakness and ask them to talk to a mentor before being approved. The mentors then explain what defense really does in STHS and 99% of members change their weakness before being approved. This is a whole bunch more chasing down of new members when we could just eliminate the option. The other 1% are ones that go inactive anyways.

I just found all the players that are on teams with Defense as a weakness, here they are:

https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=91493
https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=87215
https://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=79523

All 4 are inactive. There are literally 0 active players between both leagues with defense as a weakness.

Ya that seems like a lot of extra time we could save by just cutting the option

Speaking of build diversity, how about size as a stat not correlating with size of your player in the sim? All the good goalies are 6'5+

no joke. simon always says are the biggest things that determines what you do, and I believe most gm's do lines based upon how these attributes play with other teammates.

but focus on DT's weakness suggestions first. definitely cool with defense getting cut. I'd argue checking as well since people seem to not want that attribute as high as possible anyway for being productive.

thats not a bad idea, strengths and weaknesses don't matter at all in the SMJHL and it could allow for general player growth before you set into your defined role.

It doesn't. The STHS manual specifically says goalie height does not affect sim stats, and that the sim uses the Size stat instead.

The size stat is supposed to be how the goalie uses their size. Some big goalies play small, some small goalies play big. I think the stat name was sort of lost in translation from french to english.

Then why is blue good

His build is focused and he has enough TPE to overcome minor inefficiencies
