#1

Kraken Carolina Kraken vs. Vancouver Whalers Whalers

GAME LINK

Day 31 of the season and the champion is still struggling heavily into the season. The same situation for the Vancouver Whalers. Both are playing against the bottom of the standings. Carolina with a 10-13 record and Vancouver with a 9-14 record. Both teams met 5 times already and Vacouver took home 3 wins and Carolina 2 wins so far.

1st Period:

What a crazy period this was. Vancouver go up to 4-0 with two goals in a very short period of time two times. A little bit more than 8 minutes played and Jean-Paul Boivin intercepted a pass from Ravyn Tedisko, send the puck to Marcus Ohlssen via stop by Samie Rieder. Ohlsson brought the puck into the Carolina zone for a shoot on goal. McMahon let down the puck for a rebound. Boivin was there to pick up the puck for the goal at 8:44. Just 10 seconds later a face of in the Carolina zone was won by Zacha, he send the puck to Francois Breton and he scored for the 2-0 lead at 8:59. At 12:37 Bobby Pobcalf set the scoring to 3-0 on the power play. Nolan McMahon had enough and he left the net for Mike Horch. 3 goals from 6 shoots was too much. Only 14 second later the Whalers scored again. Cullen Gray put the standings to a 4-0. It was about time for the Kraken to wake up or get destroyed. They woke up and found a way on the scoreboard. Ricky Bobby brought the Kraken back into the game with his goal at 16:02.

2nd Period:
Carolina tried hard to come back and had some good shots in the first minute, but then a penalty broke their neck. Phineas Gold in the box and Bobby Bobcalf said thank you. Whalers up 5-1 with a power play goal at 2:14.But Carolina didn't stopped working hard and fired a lot of shots against White Goodman in the net. A shot from Alexei Rykov was the only one that put on the lamp behind the goal. 5-2 after 12 min of play in the 2nd period. Carolina was still running and gunning, but couldn't do more.

3rd Period:
With their backs to the wall the Carolina Kraken continues to dominate the game with the offensive power they have. But White Goodman was to good for them today. He only allowed one more goal at 06:38. Alexei Rykov beat him a 2nd time this evening to cut the lead to 2 goals.

Finale Score:
Carolina Kraken 3
Vancouver Whalers 5

Three Stars:

1 - Alexei Rykov (CAR)
2 - Bobby Bobcalf (VAN)
3 - Marcus Ohlsson (VAN)

Plug of the Game:

The second episode of POTG takes us to Carolina, where they hosted the Vancouver Whalers in what turned out to be quite the offensive showdown. Vancouver kicked off the scoring with four goals in the first 13 minutes, and in no small part to Carolina's top center Tom Fiddler. The final score was 5-3 in favor of the Whalers, but the leading forward for the Kraken registered no points on the evening. For that matter, he was a -1 and didn't even get a shot on net. To top things off, he won just 6 of his 15 faceoffs in the dot, good for a lowly 40% success rate.
